Thread: Am i a bad smuggler

As a Master Smuggler i get alot of greif.
I didn't become a smuggler to slice for people, to make spice for people.
Including my friends, i will ofcource if they ask, but it wasn't my intention to do it when i choose the profession.
I didn't become a smuggler because of feign death or the other specials in the Dirty Fighting tree, but the are a nice bonus.
I didn't become a smuggler be for the faction bonuses or other stuff in the Underworld tree.
I choose smuggler for the basic Star Wars concept of a smuggler, it had nothing to do with what a smuggler is in SWG.
So i get alot of greif, because i'm not a slicing smuggler, and will only slice if i get a good experiance out of it, it has nothing to do with credits, it has something to do with the creative side of the person who asks for a slice.
If people send me a /tell then the answer is automatically no, if they follow me around a corner and goes *pist* and /whisper excuse me, are you able to modify something for me?
So unless i get some role playing out of it i simply won't do work for people
I personally don't think i'm a bad smuggler, but i get alot if greif for it.
So do you think i'm a bad smuggler ?

Just dont let them break your RP spirit cause its hard to gain it back once they do.

Yeah, as far as I'm concerned they could take away my slicing and spicing if ONLY they'd give me smuggling to do... *sigh*

I kind of like weaing my master title these days and telling people I won't slice. I'm thinking of telling them I will only slice for them if they post on a forum in support of the smuggler revamp, but I figure such seditious behavior will probably get me banned.

Hell no you are not a bad smuggler! That's why a good number of us chose to play smugglers. Me personally, the second I heard SWG was being developed I knew I wanted a bothan smuggler (been playing one in the WEG pen and paper RPG for years 
). This is the reason I think you will find such a large amt of players with true passion for the smuggler profession. We simply love smuggler, and it hurts us because we know what if could be.

No way bud In MY book that makes you an elite smuggler! they take us for granted who says we HAVE to slice for them? im damned tempted to stop slicing for any body ever RP or not and if I were the only smuggler I would but any benifit from not slicing would be lost as others took up the slack.
Here we can modify weapons and armor, the one thing that gives us any sort of edge in combat and we provide this srevice to the players..thereby nullifying our edge so don't let the whiners get to ya man keep on doing YOUR thing!

nope man for me your a good smuggler.
i have been bored lately of the game and i have tried to roleplay a bit not being quite succesful.
i still give it a try once in a while to see if i can mingle with RP'ers
people have the same atitude with us as same as doc's,we have to slice or buff whenever they want,and that really pisses me off!!

this goes on everyday dont despair,make your own way of working,slice WHENEVER AND WHOEVER YOU WANT.
if u dont feel like slicing dont hell you have /ignore use it

that sure doesnt make you a bad smuggler... if anything it makes you a smuggler that is true to himself
no where is it written by the devs or anyone else for that matter (except some 1337d00d that wants a slice) that you HAVE to slice for them...
honestly the only people i slice for are friends and associates... and dont charge for guildmates or other close friends
so hey... someone comes up to you in theed... yo man can i get a slice?

Dude, thats exactly what i strive to be! Its just too bad I'm kinda poor, soI'm stuckplaying the role of a slicer and hopeing toget a big break someday...

Bad smuggler.. no.. good role player.. maybe.. hehe most times when someone askes me if I can slice (i happen to wear my slicer title just for this..) I will emote a confused look.. tell them I dont know what they are talking about.. emote being nervouse.. look around .. and run away ... then I laugh my ass off thinking about what their faces look like ....
Rock on dude.. I dont make spice other than for personal use... or if a Doctor askes for it. With as many buffs as I buy I kinda feel like I owe the dudes sittin in the star port buffing but other than that I'm with you on the no slice thing. but then again.. read my post on being a recycled n00b.. im a bit out of touch these days..

I used to roleplay, but I got enough grief where I started losing business. So credits are alot more valuable than roleplay to me. Although I do /bow to my customer after they thank me for the slices. If they give me a negative response, I /shrug.

Wow, I was going to post all my thoughts on this, which, in summation are, I fully support you, but I just had a revelation. I had nevereven thought about it this way before, in over a year, and it's all so clear now. Slicing is for us. The idea being that as the rogue class, we can do more damage, block more hits, with our cunning, than our brute strength. It's been corrupted. I've seen suggestions that we should be able to slice our own weapons better and not make them tradeable. but that's almost what it was meant to be from the beginning. wow, I mean, I just never looked at it from that point of view before. Always as a sort of service like doctor or entertainer... This is going to take some thought.
