This guy starts asking around if you pay for slices, so I responded that yes, people have to pay for slices. Convo goes like this

Him: Okay, can you slice something for me.

Me: Sure, I charge 4k per slice.

Him: Okay, that's fine.

I'm somewhat in a hurry. He hands me a locked container. I'm wearing my Slicer title so it's obvious I don't need container XP. Normally when someone hands me a locked container, I explain to them it's probably best to find a novice smuggler who needs the XP, and to ask them again if they want me to open it for 4k. However, I'm in a hurry, so I go ahead and unlock it for him (after stating it will cost him 4k).

Here comes the suprise.

I hand it back

Me: That'll be 4k.

Him: Where's my money.

Me: Umm, you're supposed to tip me 4k.

Him: Since when do people pay for slices. You owe me money

Me: Look dude, if you arn't going to pay for your slice, you're not getting your item back.

NOTE: It only had a CED pistol in it

Him: You @&#%* thief. Give me my money!

Me: Dude. You asked me if people pay for slices, I told you yes, then I told you that I charge 4k to slice your items, and you agreed. You don't pay up, you don't get the item back. Simple as that.

Him: You ripped me off! I'm reporting you. You'll be banned tomorrow.

Me: The only person I see getting ripped is me. You made me waste 3 slicing components plus time. Not to mention, all trades are final.

He then starts following me everywhere shouting "THIEF THIEF HE STOLE MY STUFF"

We're finally at the starport and people start asking what's up.

Me: /shout Okay everyone, JUST to get this settled. Do people have to pay for slices?

Someone: yes

Him: Ha, that's one person. People paying for slices is stupid. The slicer always pays to slice the items.

shortly after, people start laughing.

Me: Look. People have to pay for slices. The slicer does NOT pay for slicing. YOU pay to get your items sliced.

Him: you're full of @$(&%, no one pays for slicing. I get all the money from slicing. I'm reporting you, you're gonna be banned.

Me: Whatever.

Used the ticket and never saw him again.

Goodness freakin sakes....I know you get bad customers....but my first one was completely insane.

Some might think he was asking if I paid to slice containers.

1. He never mentioned anything about containers

2. I told him twice that I charge 4k to slice an item

3. He agreed

4. The doctor that was near us said he ripped one of his friends off the other day

so...

5. Obvious Ripper or Noob

All of this over a CDEF pistol......

Good thing it wasn't a weapon with a, god forbid, 30% damage slice!

I am an SOE customer, now only if they'd treat me as one...hell, I'd be happy if they treated me like a McDonald's customer.

I don't slice containers any longer either, I simply direct them to a novice smuggler to get it done. But for those customers who fuss about paying after I've finished slicing something for them, I give them a few moments to come up with the money, then I just take it to the closest bazaar and put the item up for sale at 6k (my usual slicing fee is 3-4k) but I figure the extra 2k is worth the aggravation that the knucklehead has caused me. So at that point they have a choice of retrieving their item at an increased cost to them, or if they really don't want it post-slice, then someone else has the opportunity to buy an expensive piece of equipment at a greatly reduced price.

Just a thought, you ought to take more enjoyment out of situations like this. It's not often you get a good laugh out of the game like this.

It was like the time when someone asked me to train him insurveyIV, and then demanded that I pay him money before training. I just laughed it off. I thought I was doing him a favor, and he was asking for money. Then he followed me for about three minutes lowering the price for training not realizing that I just didn't need any apprentice points.

But at least you gained some entertainment value out of this.

With containers it's very difficult because the vast majority of smugglers that the average player happens upon will pay to slice a container. If the guy had only a rudimentary grasp on the English language it would be easy in that circumstance to get confused.

With the weapons things it's entirely unforgivable. If they don't pay at that point tell them to follow you and walk to nearest bazaar. Trust me on this one when I say they will follow. Place the item up for 6k ( this is why it's handy to set your price dead on 5k per slice ) for instant sale and say this.

The new stats on your armour/weapon are ............ after a .....% slice. Not a bad weapon for 6000 credits if some newbie happens upon it. I'll leave it you to decide how much you want it.

2 minutes later you'll get the e-mail because even if the slice is a low one the guy will know it's worth more then 6k.

When you do forward the mail to him with the reply "Thank you for the prompt settlement of my slicing fee - Please feel free to find another smuggler in the future"

I haven't gotten too many "Bad Customers" but I do get a few dumb noobs, nothing realy funny.

This should be in the "Chuckle" thread I agree this would make a great addittion...I wish i could find a funny customer.
I always charge 5k per slice, very few people will dissagree with the price. And I will employ that tactic of selling on the bazaar for 6k if anyone gives be sass for pricing or the quality of the slice (its not like i can do much, I make guns and armour better...I dont chose HOW)

Ugghh what a pain in the arse.

What I do is have a macro that says "Do you know how this works?" and another that explains.

Once they agree, I ain't gonna hold their hand.

If somebody gets too annoying during the process, just give them their stuff back and tell them to get lost.
