I think it would be interesting if slicing weapon was only temporary, if each slice lasted only for some time (way longer than weapon attactchments, but not permanent). This would make us all some more money, eh?

And it would prevent people from complaining about bad slices... they would just get it sliced again after the slice wears off.
Good idea.

That would be pretty cool. Very nice idea. How long are you thinking it should last? A powerup lasts 100 uses, so are you thinking more like 400 uses?

Maybe if it were tied directly to the weapon's condition? So make that 400 condition points instead, since crafted weapons generally have between 800 and 1000 condition you could probably slice that gun 2 - 4 times (depending on if they successfully repair it once or twice).

Yea, maybe something like that.
I never even thought about this solving the problem of unsatisfactory slices on weapons. I dunno about how armor should be.

I'd like to see smugglers given the option to take a combat medic component and attach it to a weapon to make a temporary dot. Say 1000 uses or so. The % slice could determine potency and so forth.

Hey DigiDante, good to see you around bro ![]()
I think any addition to the DoT weapons in the game would really suck, hehe.

how about instead of setting a # of uses the slice lasts till the weapon is repared? and any components added only last till the weapon is repaired? that way dot weapons ware off and dissapear, and its kinda like an npc skill tape attachment

I'd like to take that a step farther and suggest Smugglers get an ability to REMOVE DoTs from opponents' weapons with a special attack. Sorta like Disarming Shot, but like De-DoT Shot.

Too bad disarming shot doesn't actually *do* anything except hit the player for low damage. :?
Instead of making an attack that completely removes DOTs, because we know people will start kiting themselves with that attack for PvP, how about an attack that removes X number of remaining DOT attacks from the weapon? Where X equals the amount of damage that would have been done if it were aimed at the character.

i like the sounds of this. the DoT-adding ability will be nice. finally add a good mind-DoT on that T-21 of mine
idea: perhaps even have some "add-ons"that add skillmods?
For armours: make sure that the mod that can be applied, is armour-type specific. Explanation: adding a flexibility-fluid on your composite chestplate won't have nearly as much effect as when u use it on a Padded armour. Thesame goes for weapons: setting apart Ranged-components and melee components. no use adding a rancor-bile compartment to a T-21, since it only shoots energy bolts. But add the bile-compartment to a melee weapon, and u got a nice disease/poison weapon. for the ranged weapons, a heat-generator component might be used to create a fire-weapon. offcourse, there might be several other add-ons for weapons/armour.
idea2: perhaps a further dmg/speed/wound/range/HAM increase that can be added.
Instead of slicing it, we just add a component to the weapon/armour. this way, we can choose what to slice, and it will not be permanent, since the item we add can be "deep-fried" after several uses. this would require several components crafted by other professions(like the WUK/AUK are atm) or looted ones from NPC's/creatures. Melee examples: sharpening kits for more damage, lightening kits for higher speed. Ranged example: energy-cap overrider for more damage. Coupler-wiring kit for better speed. for the DoT's, either creature loots might be used, or possibly a poison-kit from a CM. Offcourse, only 1 slice might be active at a time, and a slice can be enhanced with a PU like it normally would.
How does this sound to u guys?

how about actually being allowed to powerup slice at a very very heavy cost to the weapon in terms of condition loss?
