Hi guys
Just trying to get a feel for the prices i should ask for when slicing peoples equipment as i did my first one tonight and had no idea what the currant rate was.
I don't want to start a price war on my server
I ended up asking for 2k per item and the guys seemed very happy with that which gave me the impression i undercharged.
So any advice Guys, and Girls too?
Thanks...

Well,
I charge 10k per, with a 5k increase if the slice is over 30%, and a 5k decrease if it's below 20%. However, I don't always stick to that. Containers I usually just say whatever.
Many players tell the customer to pay what they think it's worth, because some will under pay you, and others will extravagantly overpay. Meaning that you can actually make more, but I've found that I just don't make enough for my time relying on people jugding what my time and skill are worth.
Having said that, Last night I was in Coro and someone was offering 100k to a Master Smuggler to slice a weapon for him. Right before I started the slice he told me He wanted a damge slice. As it wasa Pike with Max Damage 754, I could understand that. But he cursed the slicing gods and I got a 23% speed slice. (Sorry SikFury) I told him it was free, cause I felt bad, and people remember those kind of things. He, of course, understood that it wasn't my fault. However, I still refused payment.
My advise is try and gauge the customer. Don't be mean to newbs, they don't know. Don't fall prey to veterans, there are a bunch off jerks. Place a price in you Bio that you are comfortable with, that way they can't say you are chargin more than usual.
That's all I can say.
Have fun.
P.S. Pray daily to the slicing gods, they are your worst enemy.

I charge 10k usually. I let them know how much I charge first off, and if the slices are horrible, I usually just say pay me what youd like. If they pay me crap, then I add to ignore list.

I charge based on many factors ranging from very cheap (for noobs) to very expensive (elite weapons when I am busy)
Very expensive has been well into 6-figures per slice.

I charge 12k per slice and have never been turned down due to that. If people hand me already sliced items i still charge them for the time and annoyance of having wuks/auks pulled into my inventory. Most people hand me the items before even checking the price, so sometimes i feel like charging outrageous amounts, but dont. I dont charge more/less depending on the slice i get as i have no control over that. I slice for friends and guildies for free, and i also do free slices to people who do me favours (healing, programming a droid chip etc). If someone wants a container sliced i tell them to go to a novice, if there are none about i will do it at full price. My bio details this all, and even says ill negotiate for larger orders, but people seem to never want to haggle. Made more than 500k just slicing this weekend while sitting around cantinas and such (3 suits comp + weps). I blew 250k on a blue rug adhesive to finish my second loot kit though

I used to charge 10K a slice.
Now I tend to just say pay what it was worth for you (I am averaging about 30K a slice due to this policy!) Then again I do get more than most of our sever for having won a the Smuggler of the year award from our 2004 awards.
I still charge 10K an item for bulk as that is nothing but a chore, only time i discount is if the order is over 1K items.

From a non slicer point of view... I will use anyone who advertises 5-10k per slice. If its a good slice I always tip extra, and a bad slice well its not your fault so I tip the agreed price.

Not sure when flat rates were implemented. I still charge 200c per percent over 30. Free otherwise.

Originally I charged 6k per slice flat fee, anything under 17% free.
For public slicing now I charge 8k per slice, anything under 17% free.
Bulk slicing (25 items or more) is still 6k per slice. I figured 150k/crate was a fair price for my time
Largest single slicing order: 63 weapons.
Largest single tip for ONE sliced item: 100K (on a Hammer that came to 700 max dmg post-slice)
I also took the liberty of adding a "contract" to my BIO and I make all customers agree to it before I accept anything from them via trade window. I'll have to copy/paste it here...
I've done a few hundred (conservative estimate) face-to-face "can you slice my gun" slices since mastering smuggler and ONLY 1 person has tried to give me troubles.
You don't pay the slicer, you get /addignore'd and your weapon becomes my property.
I find myself somehow attracted to Doc/Buff lines, targetting specific players with some canned macros I have. Response I've gotten seems pretty good so far. I usually /tip the Doctor(s) who's customers I am "bothering" or ask them if they would like a free slice.

I would dare to be so bold as to say I am, and have always been Eclipse's most known smuggler. My pricing has never changed. Nor has my guarantee. I think marketing of one's self is the key to growing your smuggling business. Make people WANT to choose you instead of any other of the million smugglers out there.
For me, it was sexy spice names. You won't hear the names Muon Gold and Neutron Pixie much on Eclipse. You will hear Mindjob and Wren Dust. Just creative branding. I also am heavily into RP, which ties into the crime organization threads here, pirating rings, live RP events, etc...
Become infamous and your business will not fail.
