Thread: Does this sound suspect to anyone else?

I am an Imperial Smuggler and have a thriving business in selling FP's.
I was approached the other night by a well known player on Chimaera who is the mayor of a rebel city who wanted 5200 imp fp's in a hurry to allow him to convert to imp. He could offer no further explanation as to the use of the FP's and got quite insistant, eventually rude because I wouldn't drop everything to go meet him to sell him the FP's. The following night the same thing happened. Now this guy is well known for ganking imp Jedi's and my guildies have warned me not to do business with him so I am not going to do this.
There is a distinct smell of Smuggler gank squad here so be warned, because there are not official bounties out on us it doesn't mean we are not seen as fair game. (Finally some real content 
). If I could have got a protection team together in time I would have happily walked into this and had a bit of a barney.

They will loose alot of money if they want to gank you.
Get paid 100% before you declare.
Say he has to come alone and ungrouped.
Say him if his guildies show up declared, ready to gank you, the deal is of and there will be no refund.
Have your FD-macro running.
Declare and go instantly covert again.
WIth this you hold all cards in the hand, this is the only way to do FP-Deals with the opposite faction.

I saw a post on the SS trade forums a few nights ago from a guy wanting 5200 Imp FP. And, being the opportunist that I am, I quickly sent him a /tell offering him my services.
I got really wary though when he responded, asking if his being an overt Rebel at the time would be a problem.
Anyway, while I was very suspicious of this guy, I had been farming faction for a few days and actually had all the necessary points already on me for a quick transfer. So, just to take a few extra precautions, I had him meet me at my house. While I waited, I dropped my armor, just in case something happened and I ended up with a trip to the cloner.
Then, I hopped over to the Imp base about 300m away and declared.
Then, as he approached, I kicked in my FD macro.
He insisted on getting half the points before he paid, which I kinda agree with, since we've never done business together before, so I send him 2500 points, he pays me 625k, and I send him the rest. Done deal...
Afterward, I waited a few minutes to see if he attacked me or if any of his buddies showed up, but neither happened. He went on his way, and I went in my house and logged out.

Just runs FD over and over again in case you do get ganked in a FP transfer. You don't have to worry about hunting your hotkey...

click my clicky on faction selling and read the rules. its got the best rule going:
My rules:
I will choose where I will meet you.
You must pay all money up front for the faction to be bought. If you would like me to do it in 1000fp chunks or whatever then that is fine. However you will not get the faction until you pay me.
If you are rebel then come covert.
If you are rebel and I am jumped by another rebel and believe you are involved I will keep all the credits with no return.

exactly what I was thinking. I get paid 100% plus I drop everything in a house just incase of this. As you become more well known you will start this as this is about the only time I have to worry about dying .

my fd macro goes one better, it takes off my armor and puts on my empty armor. (armor removed this way is instant, and plain clothes go on instantly as well, whereas comp armor etc. has a delay).
But be sure you test it to make sure you have it working like you want it too, and test every couple days or so to make sure you didn't make toolbar modifications or anything that would disrupt it...

Thanks for the FD macro...always glad I jump on this board, always something new to learn. I have noticed a dramatic increase in the amount of folks that have been asking for FP....especially Imperial. I must have had 5 different offers tonight alone. I know that doesn't sound like alot but considering that the most I have had prior to yesterday was 2 in the last 4 months i consider this strange....anyone else notice this?

I seem to get bombarded with deals shortly before player events, people want ATST or faction armor etc.

Yeah. Get the money up front before you even declare. Then let them attack you all they want. Hell, they're paying you to die. And of COURSE there are no refunds if you get ganked!!

You should of seen my situation when Ez and Honor defected to the alliance on Chimaera. Groups of imps coming to a remote reb base on Dantooine, from guilds famous for ganking, and there I was selling each one 5200+fp. Some of them even turned up still overt imps, yet i kept my cool and kept on delegating, cash up front.
Ranks as one of my strongest memories as a smuggler so far, not to mention a well paid day's work.
My opinion: There might be some ulterior motives for someone you know as a member ofthe opposite side buyingfp from you,But nooone pays750k (or whatever you charge for 5000fp) just to kill a smuggler.
