Hi,

Just a quick question, what advantages do Master Smugglers have over Slicers strictly in terms of Slicing?

Thanks,

Magda

A slicer can only slice weapons up to 30% while a Master Smuggler can slice them all the way to 35%

On the armor I think it's 35% for slicer and 45% for Master...not sure on how high a slicer can get on armor.

Take a look into the FAQ-Sticky.

Yes, you're right, I should have looked at the FAQ, it was a lot easier to find than I thought it would be. That said, I just can't see wasting 43 skill points to get a 5% boost in slicing, I don't see any other tree of the smuggler profession as being worth my time. But thanks for the information.

This is true. A lot of people won't let anything but a Master touch their stuff. Though I'm sure there are some poor peeps out there or those who don't know the difference. *shrug*

Besides, it's not about the skills....It's about the title.

Hmmm, then I would probably be better off forgetting about smuggler, titles don't mean anything to me, it's the character concept I want. I suppose I could do master smuggler instead of TK, my main goal is dancer anyway, I just like the concept of the unarmed dancer being able to kick butt, and wanted to expand my horizons a little with smuggler. We'll see, thanks for all the input.

You could always go up the slicer line for the ability to open containers and slice terminals.

And by it's all about the title...what I mean is the people that put the time and effort into Smuggler and keep it are usually people who role play that aspect of their character. It's not so much what we can do...it's more of an underground brotherhood of those willing to take the hit to be the character they want to be.

That's also a good point. Btw, how do you include other people's posts in your post? I'm only doing smuggler because of the roleplaying, I don't really care if I get a lot of business. I make the vast majority of my credits hunting or dancing, I'll never be rich but I do okay. As I said before, I just like the concept of a dancer/TK, and a little danger on the side as a very minor smuggler appeals to me. So in reality, I probably don't even need the weapon or armor blocks, just enough to slice containers, to sort of keep my hand in, so to speak. This is also, by far, the most consecutive posts I've ever done in the forums, and it's really nice to have an intelligent exchange (at least on your part, you may think I'm alittle dim about smuggler)without any flaming to accompany it.

Click on reply on the message you want to use. On the message tool bar next to the smiley face on the left is a chat box looking thing with " " in it. Click on that and voila!

If you're going for the roleplay aspect of it go ahead and pick up Novice Smuggler and go up the slicing tree. It's always helpful to be able to open containers. I personally only wear my Master Smuggler tag when I'm looking to slice for the public, very very rare, or I forget to take it off Being a Master Smuggler to me is all about the attitude/role playing aspects. Though being able to slice for me and my guildies/friends is a VERY nice little bonus

As always...happy to help

You mean the completely empty "Master Smugler" box that has had zero, zilch, nada information in it since the dawn of this game didn't inform you of all the wonderful benefits of being a Master Smuggler entails?

I don't know why, but the fact that no one can be bothered to so much as add some simple lines of text to the box to head off all these questions and the fact that people have to go outside the game to these forums to find out what the profession does, just makes me want to have an aneurism.

If you have the points available, dabbling in slicing can be great help for those occasional Locked containers you will find as TK. Also if you are a hunter, it can help in higher payouts from terminals when getting missions for your prey. In the long run it can be worthwhile. But for true use of slicing skills (Weapons and Armor slicing) you have to have Master Smuggler. I just did a job recently. Sliced 7 full sets of comp for 300k. Easy work and money. I make all my Knives and Clamps. Guild members supply me with WUK's and AUK's. So profit on the deal was great. Now that I can travel for free in my Yacht it's even easier.
