Excuse me if this has already been posted, I've been away for a few days and I'm just catchinh up..

I was reading what apear to be 11.3 patch release notes for the TC, I'm not sure if there official or not as I can't see them anywhere else.

This section caught my eye:

Talus:
Players wishing to receive missions from this station must be a ground Smuggler of Alliance or Privateer faction.

(my highlight).

If those notes are right its a step in the right direction.

Edit: Ok, the original page is here and it does appear legit.

If the devs are true to form, the reward will be a nerf- remove all our pistol specials or something.

Heh...alas...I am locked out of these so-called "Smuggler-only" missions...because I chose to fly as an Imperial with my friends instead of lend credit to that sham they call the Smuggler's Alliance.

I only hope this doesn't carry through to any content we might recieve in the mythical Smuggler Revamp. It'll really suck if 1/3 of the profession is locked out of content because they chose to work for the Empire.

I believe some of these are Ground Smuggler or SA pilots.

Yeah...the missions in question a for "Ground Smugglers" (read: us)...however...you must be flying as either a Privateer (Neutral) or Alliance (Rebel) in order to take the missions. At least that's the way I read the patch notes...

Therefore, the 1/3 of us who chose to fly for the Empire are still locked out of "Smuggler-only" content...

I assume there will be sometimes down the road some mission aimed at Imperial ground Smugglers. I sure hope so, or it would be cheap!

Yhea but if you think about it, it really makes no sence for the Empire to even employ Smugglers. They would have no need for black market merchendise as they are the galactic government with nearly unlimited resources at thier disposial. They should have just made it impossible to become an imperial smuggler when the game launched but oh well.

Well, I always saw Imp Smugglers are being Imperial who do Smuggling on the side. Not being employed by the Empire AS Smuggler.

Now this is something that i have witnessed first hand. I was a Imperial for the first 365 days in swg and a colnel, i saw many ups and downs but i liked the faction rewards. i also became a smuggler last year in January, well sence they year was up i switched sides and being a Smuggler was suprisingly easy. and proceded to climb up in rank, made colnel again and discovered that the faction rewards were CRAP as a rebel so no wonder no one wanted to be one. well 2 months later im still a rebel, havent finished all the reb content, its just a pain. But ive been thinking about this, the Empire is in a war, and has the vast resources of the universe at its beck and call, why should they imploy smugglers at all? hmmmm

Well when it all comes down to they shouldnt. But I understand that somepeople would hate not being imperial and a smuggler, cause faction selling is a great market. THERE should be a price, say a tax or a duity/BRIBE for the privlage of X to be in the Imperial Navy, and this say 10,000 should be paid every 14 days, if you dont pay faction points drop at the rate of 100 per day, till your BRIBE is paid. this first off this would keep smuggling on the DOWN LOW in the empire,

second thing they should do any Smuggler showing smuggler tag in a Imperial controledcity with in 64 meeters of a Stormie or officershould be added to the BH boards. Yes this will greatly reduce the people who show a smuggler tag, and keep us in the underworld. ALSO smugglers SHOULD NOT have to be overt to deleget faction or buy faction, but they would have to have there smuggler tag up...

i realize that those 2 things seamingly conterdict themselfs, you cant beinfront of a imperial with your smuggler tag up and still get faction. but a sugnificant BRIBE anything can be overlooked. this would jsut add to the underworld tree and make it more meaningfull.

Well RP wise I don't thinkg the Empire would KNOW that it had employed a smuggler.

My Point of view on this is.. if I had an Illegal cargo to be hauled from my space station (talus) Id would have serious reservations about loading it onto an Imperial Warship (Decimator).

Still I hope some content comes along soon that allows our Imperial Partners in Crime to partake, that perhaps the rest of us wouldn't be able to do, like a special covert imp mission to get a cargo past a small rebel fleet to a damaged capital ship etc...

Well, as an imperial Smuggler (the one with a big fat large S) i see me as the man (ok, the bothan) who knows someone who knows someone who can help... i'm the guy you have to visit if you have a specific problem, be it your promotion to next rank still delayed, or your house needing furniture...

Every one in the Imperial army or Navy needs some attention, since they are on duty they have no way of spending all their money, except for single priviledges...

Never heard about art loving Moffs, or about this Gouvernor that hijacked so much furniture from the Navy that he managed to build and decorate a new palace?

That's the way i see the Imperial Smuggler, we don't bring bacta tanks or grenades crates to the headquarters, we provide services to the guys inside the headquarters, guys that have credits in proportion with their egos.

On a side note those guys may be able to help you in some troubles if you're cool with them. Be it by telling you where the customs don't look, or by getting you out of jail if you're caught (even though i agree you should better not try to verify this one).
