Thread: Lets do like the wookies did
There is no other way around that. There are other things they need to accomplish before our revamp can begin, and the major thing that must be accomplished is the CURB. Why revamp something that may be useless after the CURB?
Protesting, refusal to slice, shouting, so forth will do nothing.
Ab-so-lute-ly nothing.

Seriously, if people have so many issues with Smuggler, drop it. Has it really changed so drastically since you mastered it ? I'm curious about that. Since I Mastered it a few months ago the only thing that's changed for the worse is FD and honestly, is that such a big deal ?If you want a positive, we now have no artificial faction cap, 1 all
I really am getting the impression a lot of people have mastered smuggler, find it doesn't fit with their idea of smuggling so are screaming for it to be changed. So we've been lied to and promises of revamps have been broken, big deal, if the ethics of that upset you so much, pick another profession or stop paying SOE and do something else.
Now I certainly don't want to upset anyone and I'm sure you will all have different views on this, but this is my opinion on the profession I chose and enjoy playing. This community has always been good and it was the one board I read repeatedly even before I became a smuggler but just lately it's been getting pretty tiresome and more like a BH or Jedi board full of whines.
but apparently that works, since they are listened to, in some cases. u know the saying: if u can't beat em, join em.
if that wasn't invented by a smuggler, im not spice-addicted...

The thing is, a lot of us mastered smuggler a while ago and have since been strung along by a number of broken promises about fixes and revamps. So it's both that big investment of time and the significant connection many people feel to the smuggler profession and what it could become that keeps people sticking with it no matter how frustrated they become with its condition.
We're a little whinier and unpleasant than normal, yeah, but I see it as a generally healthy and definitely legitimate expression of anger that will probably simmer down over the next week or three.
And has the profession changed since I took it up? Hell yeah it has; we used to be downright evil in combat: Panic Shot and Lowblow were spammable if you were with a group that could dish damage, you could bleed a krayt and FD for the ten minutes till it died if you were alone. We were so effective at fighting it took a lot of our minds off the small fact we couldn't actually smuggle. Were all these abilities unbalanced? Yeah. Was nerfing them what's best for the game? Also yeah. But with the removal of all our combat prowess came no upgrades to our suddenly meager ability to fight or any additions to our content, which remains pretty much at zero.
The smuggler profession was slapped together in the last few weeks of beta and a lot of people assumed (wrongly, if I even need to point that out) that it would be given the attention it needed in a semi-reasonable amount of time. However, it's the kind of identity that draws a base of players who don't really want to do anything else, so we keep the profession beyond the point that is reasonable or sane. Honestly, our extreme frustration is partly our fault--because we can't give it up even when we probably should!
But at the same time, the only significant changes we ever see are nerfs, and the fact they've been spread out lately doesn't matter when you've got a memory as long and bitter as we've developed. To me, on the one hand, we should learn to deal with this state of existence and shut up already. But on the other hand, this is completely unreasonable, it's utter BS, and I'm not going to feel bad if I occasionally get more angry and sullen than I prefer to be. I'll get back on the bright side eventually; it's hard to maintain strong anger for too long. In the meantime, being negative's something I just need to do.

Ahh ! See now THAT sheds a lot more light on the situation and I can more clearly see where the long term Smugglers are coming from.
Thank you.
Not sure what you mean by that there, but look at it this way. Why do Smugglers continue to get the nerf bat for balance sake while other professions get to wait for the CURB? Why do our specials get nerfed to be the equal of a novice profession skill we already have as a prerequisite? Why have other professions not so screwed up gotten revamps when more broken ones have not?
I love Smuggler, always have. Not because of what it is necessarily, but because of what it was supposed to be and what it should be. All the changes, attention to others when we were supposed to recieve it, and the fact that we are treated in a way that no other profession in this game has been makes the people who have been in this profession for a long time all the more annoyed.
The day I stop playing a Smuggler is the day I drop SWG. The problem is that the poor treatment by SOE/LA is causing more people to examine exactly that, how long they want to continue to pay to be treated this way.
So is that like a "time out".

In case nobody's laid this out clearly. Protesting = not allowed. Big group of people in Theed spamming for revemp = warped into space, then possible disciplinary actions.
