Thread: If they made a Hero profession similar to Jedi- would you play it?

Basically you would choose an Plain Elite (Carbine, Swords, Pistols, Fencer, TKM- etc.) and be able to achieve MAD bonuses andthe use of some specialty weapons. The down side is it would work JUST as Jedi does- meaning:

  • You would have to take quests to earn the right to train the boxes.

  • You would have to earn millions of XP in order to earn a box.

  • You would gain Visibility for failing missions.

  • You would lose XP if you were killed by a BH.

  • You would have to give up your regular boxes to get your hero boxes.

  • You would unlock a second character.

  • There would be a most wanted and most Heroic list for every server.

  • You would have to be Special Forces all the time

This would be one way of making things even with Jedi- So that all players can be equal (not that I think Jedi should be the same as other professions BUT if they are going to be more powerful then I think an extra tier is a step towards leveling things out).

I think a Hero profession would be good. Maybe even better if it was tied to the GCW-

You could go to a "military specialty school" and take on high risk missions in order to gain boxes.

I don't wanna leave out the Neutrals though- however a third faction would work!

I bet there would be a lot less people playing Jedi if this option was available though.

EDIT:

Oh yeah! And I wouldn't mind if Heros had to play on an Elite tier either.

I do not think hero can be a class. It is much more far reaching into a character. Jedi playersand mostplayers interested in that sort of thing tend to focus on aspect one, achievement, and discard all the rest:

Achievement - extraordinary results, from hard work

Compassion - sympathy with a desire to alleviate suffering and remove its cause, more than empathy, like altruism

Courage - taking an unpopular position, standing up for principle, persevering, forging accomplishment out of adversity

Discipline - proper conduct or action, the training effect of experience

Integrity - sound character, honesty, virtue, honor, sincerity

Intuition - direct perception of truth, keen insight, like decision-making

Leadership - causing good things to happen, being earnest

Responsibility - reliable, dependable, accountable

Self-expression - individualism and originality

Teamwork - cooperative effort, common cause

I don't want classes that arethought heroic, I want heroic characters/players. That's my two cents.

ive always ranted about this i didnt call it hero i called it legendary.... i never like the idea of jedi and i dont want to be one and i have played since start but if u could

earn your way up and boost a elite prof to a legendary profession i would have been straight in there.

a legendary prof should be equal to a jedi....

It sounds like a good idea, whether it is "hero" or "legendary". I personally wouldn't do it simply because I can't bring myself to "grind". Basically everyone in my guild isgrinding. I went out on a few dewback hunts with them and was incapped by boredom.

The concept is sound -- just not for me. Now... if doing piles of quests got you in....

No, I wouldn't for several reasons:

First, and most importantly for me, not the kind of character I'd like to play.

Next, I'd rather they fixed not only my profession that I have and love now, but also all the other broken professions and see how many people pick up those same broken professions and love playing the game that way.

Finally, and I think this is really important. The creation of another profession which is regarded as more 'uber' than the others may well lead to the same problems that a lot people have with Jedi: they start to think that they deserve more from the game as they put in more time. Then the Devs start to pander to their demands as they are seen as the 'special' class, leading to animosity amongst the player base, griefing and the ever present napalm nerf to every other profession.

I'd prefer they fixed the game we have now, in all honesty.

I made a post on here the other day about the exact same thing. I want to play an advanced smuggler. We need something to do endgame besides become jedi

HOTDOG, I love you. As much as this idea could solve alot of problems in this game, I don't think it would be fun to do an eternal grind just to play this game in a competitive realm.

I have proposed something similar on the GCW board. In fact, I called it the Hero Profession as well... It has also been suggested that it'd be implemented alongside with Aura's proposal of segregation, so Jedi and Heroes would be placed in the same tier. This would make it so the grind is optional, and you would not need to be a Hero to compete in the GCW. Here's a link to the thread for those who are interested.
