I love Feign Death, I use it in pve.

There seems to be a lot of peeps crying for a nerf to FD, asking for a timer, and time limit etc. PLEASE leave it alone, dont let PVP gripers ruin it for us all.

Thank you

Something has to be done about Feign Death.

I know it, we know it, the community as a large knows it and the devs know it.

It just has to be done on our terms if at all possible. Strengthening it while at the same time limiting it's use.

BTW the devs had no set plans at the summit concerning feign death. I am most interested in how they are going to address it in the combat revamp as they did acknowledge it as an issue.

Most of my discussion on this though was at lunch and I had to let Keldarin eat something I guess...

Translation= bend over while dev team sticks it in and breaks it off.

IMHO this dev team has seldom to never made adjustments, fixes or nerfs in any form of moderation or "balance". They deal in extremes, going from broken to unbalanced or visa versa. I could list many "fixes" to weapons, professions, specials, ham, timers etc, where the dev team went overboard in either direction. I would be pleasantly surprised if this were not the case in any "fix" to feign death. I am however already disappointed and prepared to drop the skills, since this trend of extreme measures continues from this dev team. Which will most likely result in a great special being broken to uselessness.

I understand thier are issues of griefing and what not with this special in pvp, it's a shame that the griefers game play seem to always result in a nerf to the non griefer game play.

Well one way would be limiting it's effectivess to dabblers by making large mods at master.

I would guess if they look at who is using it in unintended fashions it is mostly the dabblers. If it requires master to be truly good at then the dabblers will drop (if thats all they are dabbling for) or at the very leat be less effective

yes, I thought this might come up as this is another trend. Mostly brought on by "Master Elitist", the answer to every thing "move it to master".

I am a dabbler, with limited skill points, a player shouldn't have to be the Master of each profession to be effective. I have Mastered 1 profession and dabble in two others. Since my temp will not allow me to master a the profs I have chose, I have to dabble. My temp has next to zero defenses, I could dabble somewhere else to get defenses, but I chose FD to be my defense.

Agree. If it takes master to be really effective it will be much less interesting for people who aren't "true" smugglers.

ok, so low level jedi are using FD to keep from being killed.....correct me if i am wrong but isnt this exactly why we have FD in the first place? instead of making FD a timer and nerfing us non-pvp'rs. we make it so that a person who has used FD cant be targetted. that means the BH has to hunt them down another day. i dont care that it will take longer to get your mark killed. i am not saying that FD ends the mission. just has to catch them some other time. the only reason this is a problem is that the real people behind the cpuknow the toon isnt dead. there is no way to compensate for a pve ability to pvp ability. whoever uses FD in pvp gets their punishment with blackbars and useless equipment. i think that is enough. now if they are gonna put a timer on it, it better be one so long that there is no way the npc is still standing over me when it wears off. bah! i am so tired of the jedi/bh crying nerf the smuggler. first it was the force spice, now FD. this profession gets more more aggravating to play all the time.

I hope they FIX it and don't NERF it.

What they need to do, plain and simple - with Feign Death - is when you Feign, you show up as a non-attackable Corpse. This should BREAK combat, so you and your opponent are NOT allowed to attack each other. It should also automatically turn you covert, so you have to go redeclare to rejoin a fight. You should not be able to invite people to your group or do anything - and there should be a 60 second timer on Feign Death till you can get back up.

"When Sony and Lucas set out, we said, How can we do this and not make another EQ? We didn't want it to be all about Luke, or combat, or lock our players into a class. So we created a system that would allow players to switch professions during the game, and there would be a lot of gameplay around making that change. If you want to go from architect to scout we've created a system to make that happen."
