I heard a rumor that this was part of that laughable hotfix today...so, you KNOW I had to test it...
So, I bought a 200 cred DL-44 from the bazaar and got a power-up out of my crate.
Low and behold...
I was unable to apply the P-up at any point in the slicing process. It basically appears that they've found a way to lock the weapon while the slicing process is active.
Put a check mark by this on our long-time list of things to be fixed, pour you a Brandy, and celebrate!!!
FINALLY some Smuggler love.

I was told 'Soon' a few days backbut this is so much faster than I ever imagined after I was told that. Awesome work!

Congratulations to all you long time smugglers who have been batteling this. I'll try to get hold of a chef and have him make some low filling, high alchohol brandy for the devs

well, just let's say nothing at all, they may not have done the fix on purpose, and if they know they have down it they could break it again, just to watch the magic of the mysterious code they have come up with.
Dev A : Hey look, this routine makes some checking on slicing!!
Dev B : Woot!! who could have guessed that? I always supposed it was to display gnorts
Dev A : yes, me too, but look if we just hold it slicing odesn't work as intended.
Dev B : you're right, well let's bring the info to someone who'll know what to do with it!
5 floors upstairs ...
Dev B : did you leave the routine on hold or is it working?
Dev A : err, don't remember, i'll verify this next week if i get into some coding again
Dev B : ok, so let's week until then before telling the boss about it, come on, let's take some coffee.
