Everwhere i read about this new 3 Second armor and 5 second gun delays. Sounds to me that this is going to make FD even more fun then it is now. So now we dont get a choice at all we either run with armor and accept a beating on it or we wear clothes and get torn up in about 2 seconds.

Yay things just keep looking up for the smugglers............

Can anyone elaborate on these delays. What are they?

Thanks!

Well if there is a delay in equipping armor, sure no problem. It's more realistic instead of magically tossing on armor in 1 second.

I don't however know if the delay takes effect when you are trying to remove the armor. Anyone know?

Only then wouldI say it affects Feign Death. Equipping armor is all well and good, but when I try to feign death, removing the armor is my #1 priority.

...

ok read a bit further, it seems it applies to unequipping as well.

NOW I can see it affecting FD. Pardon me while I take this up on the c-forum.

That was a PM, not an official statement from a dev in the c-forum. I also feel I should go to a seperate source than Taurin for this matter. Hes a great guy, but I wonder as to the validity of that statement.

In short, I've brought up PvP and Feign Death multiple times in the c-forum and never once have they told me that getting griefed was part of game design.

Yes but according to the CSR's in game it is. I have seen many CSR come to where someone has been laying for 30 mins or so being griefed and they basicly say "I see nothing wrong here"

Everyone bags on us for having the skill and hate us for it and want to torture us as much as possible for using it and keeping them from the precious 30-40 FP by spending a hour keeping us Inc and toasting our armor.

Copy of what I've written in the c-forum just now, regarding this issue.

Armor Equip/Unequip Delay and the decreasing viability of Feign Death.

"With the new Equip/Unequip armor delay code being placed into the game, there is aneed to address the concern of Feign Deathwith this new change.

It is common practice for most smugglers to have all armor removed prior to feigning death in a combat situation. Not only does this remove the problem of slow regeneration while feigning death, but it also is a much required tool to prevent griefing in GCW/PvP situations.

If a player in a GCW/PvP situation succeeds in the use of feign death, they leave their bodies up to all manner of grief tactics. Poisons, diseases, flames and any other method designed to increase your down time are used without concern or regard for the player they are being inflicted upon.

As players who are in a feigned state are open to further attacks, if the player is unable to unequip their armor before attempting feign death, they leave themselves open to players who wish to reduce their armor condition from 30k to 0.

Smugglers leave themselves open to grief just by feigning death no matter what. Now they don't evenhave the option of removing the armor to prevent players from destroying their equipment.

This new change, while admittedly realistic, addsanother reason for smugglers to shelve this skill.

Could smugglers get an official statement regarding the use of Feign Death in a PVP/GCW situation? There is a rumored PM supposedly from Taurin saying that Feign Death was never intended as a pvp move.Shouldthat be the case, please allow me to formally address the issue with the smuggler community with a comment from the developers.

If Feign Death is not intended as a PVP move, there should be some way provided by the developers to prevent this kind of grief from happening to the smuggler. By not allowing Feign death tosucceed if the shot to the smuggler is in a pvp situation, or some other option. The smuggler should not be open to such grief tactics. It needs to be a viable skill, or it should be prevented from being used in a pvp situation outright."

amen

why cant they just make it so that you cant shoot/hit someone while FD...you have to wait till they stand like the PvE mobs do ?? (There may be a very good reason...I'm seriously asking...why allow someone to continually hammer on somone who is down?)

I hate the fact that armor takes a beating while in FD ...... But it DOES make sense that a person won't really believe another one is dead just because they let out a YELP and fell down and held their breath. I could 'maybe' see an animal that will leave you alone if you're fallen and play dead, but not a person.

In real life ( I know, I know .... just bear with me ) King Arthur and Sir Lancelot fight each other with their armor on. Arthur knocks Lance down and he plays dead. Will Arthur just walk away and accept that the fallen guy is dead? I doubt it. He'd beat the snot out of the armor/body laying there until he was sufficiently certain that the guy inside that was oozing out all over the place was indeed dead. This would, by the way, totally destroy most of the armor I'm guessing.

FD is not a PvP tactic I guess, so don't use it during PvP if you have on armor that you love ...end of story...... unless you got enough $$ to buy more.

I like the delay to remove / equip armor pieces. Its kind of lame to autoMagically pop into new armor...... just like its stupid to instantly pop a new weapon without putting one away, find the other, then taking the other out.

I think that ONLY Masters of the profession should be able to re-equip a new gun/weapon in 1 sec and NO attachment or tape should change that.

Griefed while in Feign Death? I got the fun stuff right here. Screenshot of me being griefed.

Yes that is me in the middle of that dogpile. For a while, I couldn't stand up for some reason.

Those people were there doing that to me for 45 minutes. No CSR showed up at all, even after submitting a ticket.

Too bad too, b/c they kept saying "anybody got posture up to pull him out of Feign?" and other exploit-riddled comments.
