To get the best prices, find the planet with the best ratio of gcw bases.
And... anything else? Are there certain skills that help? Does rank help? Wearing vaders shorts? Anything else at all?

You are one of the many who would appreciate the wisdom and knowledge contained in the Smuggler FAQ.

Become a Colonel. For every 1 point of faction your client gets, you will lose 1.18. The lower ranks can have NASTIER penalties.
Besides going to a good planet, GET AN INSPIRATION BUFF before you buy it. In addition, have your client get an inspiration buff as well, as this buff increases the amount of faction you receive whether you buy, kill for it, or are delegated it.

I have read them. and then again. and again. and again. I've been browsing them for months and started seriously reading them a few weeks ago and saw no answer there.
I use the chart showing the cost to transfer fp daily, but i'm asking about purchasing faction items and reducing their cost.

The only thing that helps is Master Smuggler and going to the planet that your side is pretty much slaughtering the other faction. For Imperials the other important thing is race since the Empire seems to hate non-humans. As for rank it's only used to help you hold the faction you need to buy your items, like for example a private's FP cap is too low to buy say a Special Forces HQ base.

Nope. You are right on, find a planet where the GCW score is lopsided. 700 to 60 or 2000 to 200 is ideal. Before the Rebels decided to sack up and fight in the GCW I was buying SF Detachment HQ's for 22k Imperial Faction. They are costing me 29k now so I'm busy blowing up Rebel bases.

Several things will help you, depending on what you want to do:
- Being a Master Smuggler will help you no matter what (obviously) due to the discount on faction items and the ability to buy FP.
- If you're buying faction items, you need to find whichever planet your faction is winning by the largest margin on. This includes the planets that aren't 'starter' ones. For example, on my server, Imperials get the best deal on Dantooine.
- If you're buying faction items, being a Bothan gives you a discount.
- If you're buying Imperial faction items, being Human gives you no penalty. Aliens typically have 2x the cost. Honestly, I don't know if Imperial Humans or Imperial Bothans get a better rate (see #3), but I'd assume it's the Humans.
- If you're buying FP, an inspiration buff gives more FP for your money.
- If you're selling FP, your delgation ratio is better if both you and the recipient are of the same factionAND are both inspired.
- If you're selling FP, the higher your rank, the better the ratio
So, the cheapest way to get faction items is to be a Bothan Rebel Colonel Master Smuggler with an inspiration buff buying stuff on a planet where the Rebels are in total control.

Another way to look at it is as higher profits for you. Lets say you make a profit of say 5 credits per point then selling a 60k FPbase gets ya a 300k profit. But if the Imperials were winning and the bases cost 20k FPthen you would only make 100k profit. So losing can be good if you can find buyers with deep enough pockets.

as far as i can tell(unless i'm doing something wrong) buying fp is a waste of credits, it's almost impossible to make any kind of profit selling fp. for example.
a customer wants 5k fp in order to give him the 5k fp i would need to buy around 10k thus spending all of my profits and diping into my own money just to deliver. thats whats happens when i sell fp for around 100-110 credits per point, in order to gain anything i would need to double that, and i don't see anyone paying that much.
it seems much easier to go out grind out fp and tell sell it, now buying the fraction perks and selling them seems like better way to make credits by buying fp, but just buying fp from recuriters to sell is a complete waste in my eyes.
like i said i couldl be doing something wrong or something that i don't know about, if this is the case please imform me : )

Braum,
Uninspired, your at-cost selling of FP is just under 100cr per FP. If both you and the recipient are uninspired, that drops (though I forget exactly how much... I've got it written down, but I don't remember where). If you sell for between 100 and 110 cr per FP and both you and the recipient are inspired you should make a decent profit. Of course, you need to have large sales and lots of 'em to make a significant profit. Before inspiration buffs, I'd sell FP for 150 cr per FP and made a goodliving that way. But no one will pay that kind of scratch now.
