No argument here.. We should move spice, not make it/sell it.

Why is it that a classic Star Wars profession like Smuggler is so borked? My biggest peave is that you guys have a whole skill column devoted to creating "spices". HUH?!? What does Smuggling have to do with drug manufacturing? Shouldn't this ability fall to medics or Docs? (even if it is illegal).

It's obvious to me that the Devs just plain ran out of ideas when making the Smuggler profession. Honestly, we really are a space-based profession, and at least one skill line should go to something JTL related. That will never happen, though.

I must admit, I don't particularly like the spice tree. I don't want to be a drug dealer. That my be my "real world" feelings coming into play, but thatis how I feel. Besides, would it add more complexity to the character to just be a trafficer and have said character try to rationalize with themselves they don't sell it, they just move. Maybe a little too much philosophy. But we all love Han Solo (who is honestly who every smuggler wants to be), so maybe a spin of a criminal having a "heart of gold" and having "priciples" that would only allow him to move spice "as a last resort" of the finacialy strapped?

Probably would be a "no questions asked" unlabeled cargo run... As long as the money is good.

Yes, I like that "no questions asked" idea a lot!

Eh. In order to be drug-dealers, there need to be BUYERS, which are long gone since the Chef revamp.

And no, apparently SOE created smugglers when they couldn't think of enough skillboxes for "Slicers."They thenadded a few lines of random garbage and claimed they'd fix it right after release. Hah!

And unfortunately, calling Han a "smuggler" now might be a little optimistic, as apparently he was a "Freelance Pilot." They're the guys that pack illicit cargo into their spaceships and sneak or blast it through the authorities. We.. well apparently, we're gonna be thehippies that sneak backpacks of weeddown fromthe Canadian border. Yay! I think.

Han was Master Freelance Pilot, Master Smuggler, Master Pistoleer (theonly person who could hit ANYTHING with a pistol pretty much) and had both novice artisan (fixing the ship) and novice medic (he patched up the princess when she got shot in the arm). I think he had some scout too, cause he moved over the hills on Endor pretty quickly.

I've heard a lot of stories about how Han was a TKA too, but if so, he would have just powerboosted and took out that whole squad of Stormtroopers with a Dizzy+KD on each of them. Besides, his unarmed speed was far from capped. He was really slow.

This is horrible! I return to find my new title on the forum is "Jedi". What's up with that? If they wanted to confer that I'm rare and learned, they'd make my title RANGER. and then make it camo colored.

So: they "plain ran out of ideas" with one of the two professions that is expressly named in the Trilogy (BH of course being the other) and we wonder why there is so little unique Star Wars content in the game?

And anyway, according to the Trilogy, spice is mined, not crafted.

When (IF?) you guys ever get a revamp for your profession - wouldn't that entire column be better used for some kind of "smuggling" ability useful in the ground or space game or both? Maybe abilities like being able to avoid Stormtrooper scans, modify your ship to carry more/hidden cargo, etc?

When I think of a smuggler in Star Wars, Han Solo (or any other rougish scofflaw) instantly jumps to mind - not some "crack" dealer. Just had to get that off my chest.

i dont have any problem with the spice tree. sure, han was a smuggler and didnt make spice, but think about how many smugglers there were out in the glaxy that did make spice for their own personal profit. reason spice is in smuggler and not in any medic class is because its suposed to be highly illegal, plus it has dangerous downer affects.

edited just to add more-

we also have to remember that though your smuggler might ot be a "drug dealer", he is still seen as a criminal in the eyes o the public. what smugglers deal with is all sorts of contraband, all sorts o fhighly illegal things. if you think that spice should be removed from the smuggler tree, then slicing might as well be removed also, since smuggling is more about moving things from point a to b.
