Sorry folks... just had to tell this one quick.

Like many of you, I've got my slicing info aliased into standard responses: "I'll slice anything you want for 10k a piece... Bargon wan che kospah."

So I get a tell the other night: "You available for slicing?" /rprice Alias executed.

"Sure... no problem... meet me here" he says.

I'm on my way out to his waypoint... I haven't sliced anything in awhile, thought it'd be fun for a lark. Get another tell. "How much inv do you have?"

"Plenty... Why?"

"I've got 35 piece of armor for you to slice."

BOING!!!!

I'll say that again. "I've got 35 pieces of armor for you to slice."

Some quick math and I begin to salivate.

Get there and start slicing my happy a$$ off. BTW... whoever put the tip for macro pulling tools from the toolbar... THANK YOU! Made slicing okay again.

Naturally, not a single slice that this guy wants... Was hoping to get a 90% suit... I think the highest he got was 84% on one piece... had a 44% enc slice though. That was cool.

So he hands me another 11 items... Slicey.

He tipped me 40k on top of it.

So a 500000cr slice job. Woot. Freakin' woot.

And no... I'm not posting the customer's name. I hope he comes back to me.

Ive had a few jobs like that, always nice. I also seem to always get into a situation where im doing a 8-12 item job in coronet for someone, and while im doing that ill get 2 or 3 tells from other people wanting big jobs too. When im charging 12k a slice that makes me a fortune.

I seem to be inundated with Armoursmiths wanting massive 300 piece slice runs. Don't they realise the CU is weeks away and might render all that Comp worthless?

Oh well, it's not up to me to tell them

So 10k+ is the going rate that smugglers charge nowadays? Sound promising, if they decide to add the smuggler missions, we gonna have a quite a few reliable ways to get money

Do em now... *gets worried about having to explain the new system to customers and then having to do all this new UI stuff for 300 armor slices*

You won't have to... it will be not that random, and more individual to each customer. I expect more people comming to my place to do the slicing.

thats the promise i guess

but it does come with the inherant need to have to explain all of those options to the consumer.

and then my own thinking is that month post revamp there will be favorite options people settle on and there will still be bulk slicing... or worse... "ok.. slive 100 suits like this, 55 like this, 43 like this and the last 2 like this just for me"... all while having to go through what on my first read looks like a more time consuming ui in general.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not trying to bad mouth the changes, they could be bery good overall... i'm just saying "enjoy" the simplicity ofbulk slicing while it lasts.

*shrug* if that person wants me to slice 200 suits, so be it. I think I will charge in the amount of customisation, maybe 1k per 1 point of customisation... on your example it would bring 180M into my pocket.

I charge 15k non negotiable, most people pay. Some go "Noooooo way!" but it's not like I really want to slice anyway. Even thinking about raising up to 20k

Yeah... I set my price to 10k to get rid of the whiners... I may up it to 15k for under five pieces and 10k five and up. They'll _think_ they're getting a deal then.

Had one of these the other night. Guy wants me to sell him FP. I'm thinking "ok, cool: so I ask him where he wants to meet with me. Bear in mind I am in the middle of a space mission and I am basiclaly asking this guy to wait for me. He got my name from the forums and had 3 other smugglers recommended to him and chose me anyway, so already this guy is earning brownie points in my book.

So he's being patient and asks me to meet him in Bestine, since on our server, its pretty much void of PvP, very nice for selling FP in. Being the wary individual I am though, when he asks me how much, I tell him and explain the extra is cause I have to go SF to delegate and given that my life is on the line (unbuffed, unarmored, crappy at PvP) I kinda take it as a "risk fee." He's cool with it.

I get there, we start chattin up the recruiter, bribing the guy and I get all the FP he wants bought (guy tipped the whole amount off the top). I go SF, I delegate, bravo, all done, back to Combatant I go. Uh oh, guy needs more FP, that batch didn't get him all of what he wanted. So we go through and get him the rest of the FP, not a problem, all done, piece of cake.

Then guy wants some furniture and I think "ok, cool" cause I am a furniture hound myself, I love furniture, what can I say!? So I buy the stuff for him and trade it direct, saves him creds, saves me from going SF again. He says he has to go to the bank, I follow him and he asks me "so how much was it again?" I tell him. So he asks "and what do I owe you for your time?"

"My time? Gee...um..." I think for a sec and I tell him "well, its xx for the stuff and my time is worth whatever you believe is fair for the time spent." So up goes the trade window, over goes the furniture and I look at the credits bar under his panel. "Whoa! Holy guacamole!"

Turns out my time was worth an extra million credits. That's one guy that is definitely toppin my Best Customers List.
