Thread: The major concern I have noticed

The major concern I have noticed among smugglers with the release of all the CU info is our ability to do damage. However, if you look at the how smuggler's 9 'power points' are divided you will see that we have 3 out of a possible 5 in offence. that's hon estly not bad. It's more than some profs got. We don't know if they have given us a new damage special to justify that rating of 3. I think untill it hits TC or they release some sort of profession docs (stop laughting Team Low Blow! ) then it's pointless to play chicken little. I mean, some of you are starting to sound like jedi in your negitave predictions.

I'll admit I'm excited about this role. This role means that even the person who is master smugger/crafter, ent, non-combat whatever will have a place in high end PvE as well as PvP.

My concerns do not lie in what damage we do, but what damage dabblers will be able to do with our profession.

I've got another thread going on it, so I'm really not going to get much further into it than that.

"Jedi claims of being "broken" are like saying "But my TV isn't widescreen! It's broken! My TV can't show high-def pictures in 1080i, it can only do 720i! It's broken!" Meanwhile, crafters are saying "We'd really like to have a TV that's larger than 12" and gets more than 4 channels and doesn't constantly lose vertical control", and entertainers are saying "Can we get some color instead of this B&W piece of junk?" And smugglers? We're listening to radio programs of "The Shadow" and "The Abbot and Costello Comedy Hour" and hearing FDR's Fireside Chats. We don't even HAVE a damn TV, much less a broken one or a "broken" one by Jedi standards. I'd LOVE to be as "broken" as they are." - The Legendary Solo4114

just going by the numbers the pistoleer/smuggler/bh pistols and tk dabbler templates are going to be extremely well balanced (in terms of the 3 categories) templates, with pistoleer/smuggler/commando dabbler being a little heavier on the offence and crowd control but weaker on the defense. Should be interesting to see.

Fish, I understand that we can 'mez' and have decent defense BUT...

When a BH is after us for our smuggling escapades exactly WHAT will get the BH off our ass?

We're not likely going to be able to SOLO them and win.

Dying will end the bounty.

Mezzing and running though? Indefinitely mez and run? Or will the bounty end if they don't catch and kill us after a time limit?

How exactly do we win against a BH...NPC or player?

These are good points, and things I've noticed as well, as seen in the document, we are made for crowd control, so in a scenario Pure Smuggler versus a Pure Bounty Hunter, both players of equal skill and preperation, it appears that the Hunter would win, due to the emphasis of the Hunter being a one-on-one fighter while the Smuggler geared towards controlling a crowd's aggro. However, that's the problem that most people make when comparing professions, they compare Pure X from Pure Y, temporarily forgetting the fact we can be X & Y simultaniously, or X & Q, or Y & D.

Anywat, my point is the best Smugglers aren't/won't be pure Smugglers, but the Masters who've added onto Smuggler to do one of two things. Make thier character well-rounded, or make thier character primarily Offence(sometimes, the best way to avoid a fight, is to end it abruptly ala Han versus Greedo).

Again though Nicholas,

How does the bounty end? With either the Smuggler or BH dead only? If so a Smuggler/Pistoleer combo would be a failure at actually smuggling since there is no way to end the bounty with the Smuggler alive.

To successfully smuggle...in a world were death only ended the bounty...there would only be on reasonable combination; Smuggler with a damage profession like rifle.

This I think is utterly rediculous.

Either a Smuggler will need an alternate way of ending a bounty or the whole thing is broken IMO.

I dunno mezzers are notoriously hard to kill in other game systems. You need real skill to take them down as a player and its a very frustrating fight its long and drawn out and for the most part if they want to they just leave and your lefted stunned and bleeding and hoping something nasty does not come along while you recover. Heck you might even blunder into a sarlac pit in such condition.

Just gave me a funny thought, what if one of our skills was to temporarily replace our opponent's waypoints with some of our own. So an Imperial Smuggler might replace a Rebel Bounty Hunter's "Home" waypoint with one that leads him directly to an Imperial base?

Just kidding, of course.

I gotta tell you fish, I am pumped that we are getting a damage output rating of 3. It is a helluva lot better than the rating of ONE that we currently have.

What makes you think our Damage output at the moment is 1? Remember, we have the most powerful pistol special there is damage speaking...

Sure, It feels like 1... but my evil Cynic side is telling me the Devs won't see it like that :/
