Not bad.I guess the dream of actually smuggling is over and we will just have to continue to pretend. Seems like the "loot drop system" is the cookie cutter system that all professions have now.
Oh, and I love the "illegal" part too, as if there was an actual "crackdown". ![]()
/shrug I roleplay all the time.
What MADE SWG differnt in the past was its HAM system (now gone) and the theroy that the best items in the game would be player made and not crafted. When looted weapons with DOTs got nerfed i had some hope for the later. Now this is going away to. The reason to play and to stay a smuggler was a hope for roleplay content not waiting in lines to camp mobs at dungeons. I left evercamp for that reason.
Now this game is turning into every other game out there.

Dont camp or loot at all then mate.
the better answer is dont play the game if this goes in. I want to play star wars not crawl around a dungeon. I am already paying for looted parts as an armorsmithI have no desire to have my smuggler have to do the same its either a massive time sink which I wont do or its massive credits which I can do but if i do nothing but pay for loot and craft items from that loot thats about as exciting as watching water boil.
I want to SMUGGLE not loot camp.
I'm thinking it's a little more along the lines of:
"Sorry kid, unless you have one of your Jedi camperfriends bring me the completely legal but somewhat unobtainable components, then you're out of luck. I can't get it myself, but if you bring it to me, then I really have no sound reason to charge you anything for the slicing job, do I?"

heh... what if the loot thingies were *always* found by scan teams unless you have the smuggler scan evasion, then only found 5% of the time at master? Increase the drop dramatically, but make em hard to transport... oh and the team could confiscate em...![]()
STOP!
The Devs solution has always been to allow a profession to do something, and incorporate loot into it.
Weaponsmiths, they can use loot to make better weapons, but they still make better weapons than what can be looted (wasn't that way for a while, and there's the ROTW stuff, but I still use crafted guns with looted components.)
YOU are still using these looted pieces to slice the gun. You're not being replaced. The loot is interacting with the player-economy, not replacing it.

Well actualy it is kinda replacing you... it is replacing you with Random_Smuggler_001. When the Customer isbringinghis own components for the slice, why should they come to you and not go to someone else who is is right around the Starport, or lives in the same City as they do? Also, dont forget that, if they bring their own stuff, thats way less money for you.EDIT: And lets not forget, the numbers of Smugglers on the Servers is going up pretty fast. More Smugglers means more competition, which leads to less money for you.Just take a look at the BH Forum how many of those are dabble into BH/Smuggler. They dont need you or me do slice their gear.. they will do it by themself and pay nothin for it.Message Edited by Thomen on 06-23-2005 04:00 PM
How is that any different than if a weaponsmith made the uber component? or the system currently on TC? ANY smuggler can ALWAYS do the best slice. The "best" smuggler, will just like the "best" Weaponsmith, the one with the most loot. Take away the loot, and every Weaponsmith has the exact same maximum potential. sure, on guy might have a supply of better Minerals. But Minerals ARE in fact,a form of loot.
Minerals, in fact, come in greater numbers as Mob drops do.. atleast i thought so..
on the other hand, i recently heard a rumor that the Mineral loot on Corbantis sucks *hides*
For my part, when i m out shopping.. which is my favorite hobby these days in SWG.. i look for a good mix of Price and Quality on Weapons and Armor or Ship Components. I dont just buy stuff just because its the best. If AS 1 has Armor that isslighly better as AS 2, but charges150k more? Heck.. i got to AS2 and buy from him.
