Is there a chance for better slices at Master despite there not being any mods for slicing (or anyhting)? I seem to recall that people generally get better slices at Master than at Slicing 4...

yes, you want to find a master. they have a 5% higher max slice than slicing 4.

Let me ask a new question (opinion type):

Is the bonus you get for slicing at Master 'worth it' for a non-professional slicer. Does Slicing 4 tend to give more cruddy slices than good slices vs. Master which tends to give more good slices than bad?

Of all the people who would ask something like this, I never expected it to be a Blue Glowie...

If you plan to be a "professional" slicer, the bonus is more than worth it. Alot of people just won't take slices from anything other than a Master Smuggler.

If you're in it just to slice the occasional item for yourself or your friends / guildies, Slicing 4 is probably enough for you.

The bell curve is shifted upwards for master smuggler with the high limit being 35% on weapons instead of 30%. The lower limit is increased as well.

I'd say it's worth it, but I'm somewhat biased . It really depends on what you want from your own slices; do you just want an enhancement and not really care if it's a few percent less than it could be, or do you want the best chance of getting the best possible slice.

Should you want the chance of the 1337 slices and you don't want to spend the SP on Smuggler because of other interests, I'd advise finding yourself either a guild mate or to make friends with a reputable Smuggler on your server.

On a personal note, I find slicing anything for myself ends in disaster, hopefully you'll fair differently

Hehe...my 171 max damage VK's got and 18% Damage slice (at Master). It knocked them up to 201, but a 30% slice could have meant millions on the trade forum.../sigh.

Anyway, thanks for the help guys, and I would have to say that Blue Glowies should be exempt from having to read any stickies...

Oh and now that I am a master, can y'all let me in on the secret to getting damage slices every time?

The truth is the range is so generic that unless your sliceing large quantities of items you probabally will not miss the master slice. Example you just want to slice a few things for yourself. Then the randomness of it aint doing you much good anyway.

On the other hand if like me you are a weaponsmith/armorsmith then you absolutely want to master smuggler.You are going to be sliceing a ton of items and if you get the golden 35 percent slice on the right weapon expect the value to skyrocket. Example 600 max dam laser rifle. People will pay handsomely for those, and you generally will get some higher slices over the long haul

You are in a PA though so I am going to assume you have one master smuggler in your group. Plus if you are a highlevel crafter. You may opt to use your PAs smuggler to slice all your items. That way you can master artisan and your elite crafter, and have the ability to be more flexible.

Its all in the resources you have at hand and what you want.
