Thread: Does anyone else think the devs play bounty hunters.

I just dont get it. Smuggler and jedi are the two main character types in Star Wars. All the bounty hunters in the movies die. But in the Star Wars Galaxy they are the uber kings of PvP. Why is that. Well the title says it all.

P.S. this is just me venting.

For the amount of points that BH has to spend, I think they should be one of the top 3 in PVP. Smuggler unfortunately should not be in the top 5 alone. But we refuse to accept that for the love of our class. After seeing my roommate as a Commando at work today, I am dropping my ENTIRE Pistoleer tree and going Commando.

Quick answer. There are more MASTER SMUGGLERS on my server than there are MASTER BOUNTY HUNTERS IN THE WHOLE GAME. I could master smuggler about 10 times before I could master Investigation in BH ONCE.

You will be as strong as the amount of skill points you have spent. That is the PURPOSE of the skill point system, the devs have said this since the begining. I wish I saved all of the dev posts in beta.

I have spent 217 points in Master Bounty Hunter and 33 in Novice Medic.

If you spend all 250 points in combat professions, and spend them WISELY (aka not be 4 different professions at once) you will be just as strong as a bounty hunter spending the same points.

Bounty Hunters are extremely gimped right now. We are masters of one on one combat (read the descriptions of skill boxes in BH tree), but we are not that dominate in PVP.

Dizzy is extremely broke. Knockdown can take up to 20 shots before it lands. LLC is totally innacurate if our target is moving.

I don't know what pvp experience you have had, but you need a serious re evaluation.

Try being a smuggler or a pistoleer.

I was a pistoleer first, mastered it in a couple days and dropped it.

I wanted to be a combat class, not a crafting combat combo, so I don't care for smuggler.

You can't seriously want to be able to create spice, slice weapons, get all those faction bonuses, AND be able to touch a pure combat class with none of these abilities?

Why do you talk like this is EQ, you have enought points after mastering bounty hunter to become a decentself healing medic. I have more points in combat skills then any bounty hunter. This is not a class based system you keep putting labels on every thing but all you do over and over again is say bounty hunters should be better then everyone else well screw that,

i have more mods and I have more skills but none of them work all a bounty hunter has to do is spam dizzy and any ham specific shot and they win every time. This has been tested by alot of good players not just me.

I feel the same way, San. It makes me sick that any player who wants to be good in PvP must be a BH or they'll be disappointed. Should I be punished for not being a BH like the masses?

You are half crafter half combat. Your main class is smuggler and it is not intended to be a class that is oriented in PVP.

Even the majority if your own population agrees with this.

I don't care if you spend 500 pts in combat professions, if you don't spend them wisely you shouldn't have spent them in the first place.

Wow. Someone hasn't played bounty hunter.

The skill point system in this game does serve a point for balance, in case you hadn't figured that out. But try out your own advice and try playing a BH for awhile, then you can continue with your whine.

Umm...all those faction bonuses? Like +100 comprehend languages? Like being able to buy a whopping 125 faction points? Zippity doo dah. Yeah, I grant you the discounts are nice, but it's not like we're Han Solo, doone good mission and it's General this and General that. And faction bonuses are all well and good, IF you're DECLARED which many of us aren't, so that's wasted skill points because we want the title of master. And while spicing and slicing can be lucrative, it's expensive and really hit or miss. I'm not whining, I'm just saying we're not exactly the Lords of Creation over here. We just would like to have our skill points well spent. We get NO mods, and to me that's fine, and only FOUR abilities which don't always work really well. The only one that you can count on to be a good idea every time is Last Ditch, because since they switched us to a timer they also managed to give everyone mad breaking ability on our knock downs and delays. They don't work NEAR as often as they did, and Feign Death, while cool for PvE, isn't always your savior when you get the sadist who wants to sit there and burn your body down to NO wounds, which is WAY more time consuming to fix than just dying and getting it over with.

And all this would be kinda ok if half the profession wasn't pistol xp based, and both pre-reqs weren't combat pre-reqs, one of which is USELESS to us because we don't get any benefit for having it. Unarmed Specialist isn't exactly Bruce Lee in terms of effectiveness, and nothing gets added to it as you climb the smuggler tree. Again, I"m not whining, I'm just interjecting a little perspective.

I agree bounty hunters and pistoleers need to be the best at PvP. But Smugglers shouldn't be laughable. You guys should con yellow to us. Not red.

When your correspondent goes on a crusade to nerf other classes, instead of focussing on fixing your own class, I think it might be time for a new correspondent.

Actually he's not calling to nerf the other class. What he wants, and I think this is rather reasonable, is for us to get the same defensive mods to the dizzy attacks that everyone else seemed to get against our knockdowns and delays. Our special attacks hardly work anymore, because they rarely beat the opponents resist. However, we got NO defense mods against THEIR special dizzy attack. NONE. TKA's get a dizzy resist. Smugglers don't. So pretty much what that means is, either be a BH or a Smuggler/TKA. And that's not cool.
