Thread: Opinions on complementary professions to smuggler

Ive been master smuggler for as long as i can remember, and since the CU ive been master smuggler/master bounty hunter. It was fun hunting jedi for the first week, but thats now lost its charm, and apart from that i find the combination somewhat lacking, espcially now that concussion shot has been fixed to correctly be an escape type move. I was thinking on possibly going combat medic instead, as i like the idea of being primarily a support proffession. Im woried however that this combo will leave me lacking when in combat solo.

Does anyone play this combination? Any other possible ideas? I absolutely will never ever drop master smuggler, so any ideas here on what others have found useful will ereally help.

I was considering dropping my entertainer skills and picking up CM as well, so I'm curious to see how smuggler/CM fares


On a side note, do the effects of Concussion Shot and Panic Shot break if the target sustains DoT damage?

Also, how does combat medic compare to doctor for heal? My simple understanding is healing wise they are similar, doctor can buff yourself, whereas cm can debuff an opponent?

I'm finding that M.Commando/M.smuggler/CM 4000 is a great template if you like being a support person. I can daze entire groups of people with the AoE commando weapons (use an Acid Stream Launcher), and I can heal like a banshee. With a 100 rated medical droid, I heal for 1700 using bacta shot.


It is great for groups that could use a healer and a mezzer. Oh, carry a nice rifle so you don't aggro everything with your commando weapons when you need to hit just one target.

Mixing commando in sounds interesting, any one pure master cm, master smuggler + extras?

I'm M.Rifles, Pistoleer 0204, Nov Commando


In a group, it's a great template. On my own, I really miss healing skills.




Commandos out there - if I transferred the half tree currently in Pistoleer into 9 Commando skill points, what would be the best option? I'm looking for long range AOE abilities with no DOT. Can it be done?

I'm master smuggler/master TKA, I mainly just have smuggler for the money-making that comes with slicing and faction points, however I'm thinking of using my respec...

Sorry you are dropping MBH- I railed against this combo in the beginning but fell in love with it right away. Then we had a little spat when Pub 19 came along and changed things for CS and Panic shot but I'm back in the swing with it again.


Now if you ARE set on giving up MBH- M Commando and three lines of Pistoleer sounds really good. Stopping Shot is an excellent addition to the new CS and Panic Shot- Commando gives you the AoE to put the CROWD in crowd control.


On top of that you get THREE lines of specials instead of the normal two lines you would get when you try to combine any other three ranged elite profs.

I would suggest 0002- but you really need 0003 to get that Acid RIfle Launcher. It is EXACTLY what you are looking for- a huge coned weapon with a stateeffect (blind) that won't breack your Panic Shot or your CS when you apply it. Besides, You still have Improved Stopping Shot with 0003 Pistoleer, right?

Just letting everyone know i took the plunge and dropped most of bounty hunter and now have medic 0440 and am getting through the combat medic skills quickly. Without having even used the dots yet im really enjoying it, i can heal really really well. I may drop the 3 line of medic and give commando a try too, not really sure yet.

well i'm a bit of a traditionalist, and i've stuck with master smuggler master pistoleer... but now i've dabbled in carbines to go x-4-4-x in that as well.. i'm finding it good for grouping, and i can usually get myself out of any binds soloing as well. i'd ove to hear what you think of commando... i've always been tempted, but i felt the heavy weapons side is kind of anti smuggler-ish, in so much as a smuggler should be quick moving, imo any way

The grenades are kind of smugglery, you blow out a back room of warehouse when stormies charge in and cheese it out back

Im not convinced im going to go commando (no pun intended), as im a pistoleer at heart. I currently think ill just be cm/smuggler with the 0440 lines of medic + fs skills, and slowly drop the 3rd line of medic as i get the ranged speed/accuracy and 2 defense branches.
