Minutes ago, DigiDante and I were teasing CSR Melissa with the power up slicing and the lack of action taken, we ended up by getting the way to handle the situation :
CSRMelissaL: kgm If a player has asked you exploit then you need to /report him and they submit a Harassment ticket.
CSRMelissaL: kgm You need to do both
She also admitted that though it's not SOE's policy to discuss sanctions taken against players qith other players, there have been account deleted for cheaters, including power up slicing exploiters.
That's not a fix yet, but it's better than nothing, now we know how to react.

I think the last time I got someone suspended caused me to stop getting the requests
... it helped that I came to the forums and said "I do report"

I honestly thought pup slicing was apart of the game, i never read anywhere in the SOE agreement thats says pup slicing is against the terms and conditions. I also dont understand why everyone is agianst it, how does it negatively affect the game? By the way i have never been able to get it to work anyways but i am curious as to what the uproar is about.

hey Offem, I have just one question for you?
If you have never been able to get it to work, how can you concider it "part of the game" and not some exploit of the code? Think about that, if it was meant to be part of the game it wouldnt be some magical mysterious function that only a few new how to do correctly!
just my $.02

Maybe I should fly my tag and get requests and potentially ban these people...but then I'd lose my bugged "Foot Soldier" tag.
Maybe just make myself searchable again.

The agreement never stated that double slicing was an exploit either but there where alot of banned smugglers that found out the hard way that it was. SOE stated a long time ago that pup slicing is an exploit and is not working as intended.

An exploit is defined as anythign in the game that can (but not specificaly) gain a person an advantage over other players that was NOT an intended effect. Namely by-passing the PUP removal of a weapon is an exploit. Since the removal was an INTENDED effect, and by-passing it is an UN-INTENDED effect.

I tested the pup slicing again 2 days ago. I sliced about 10 melee weapons all with 15% powerups on them and guess what.... each one did not gain any additional damage for the pup added. I think they have fixed this or my character is bugged.

to my knowledge, it only works for ranged weapons.

I know that we can't discuss the actual mechanics of this exploit, but for the sake of clarifcation my understanding is, its more involved than simply slicing a weapon that has a power up attached....I have read on this forum that it can't be done accidentialy..wich leads me to the above conclusion....so simply slicing a weapon with a power up on it is NOT an exploit, right? its more involved am I correct?

Slicing a weapon having a power up on it and reading the message "you detach the power up of the weapon" (or whatever message it is that says you remove it) is not an exploit, if the weapon is given you to slice with a power up attached on it, it will be removed by the slice, so that is not an exploit.
If you're clear with that you wan detach yourself the power up before slicing, it will destroy it the same way.
