Thread: Has it come to this??

So I've been gone for a good bit now, I am one of the "old guards" I was one of the original smugglers since launch. I have always been, and will always be a smuggler.

So I jump back in today for the first time in a long time... I do my homework on the new slicing deal and so on.. put some spice up on the vendor to sell... then I travel to Coronet to try out the new slicin' techniques.

I'm expecting to sit near the steps of the starport, send out a few shouts.. and then proceed to slice away....

Only one problem.. THERE IS NO ONE THERE!!! I mean.. NO ONE!!! No spam, no threats, no shouts, no doc lines for buffs.. NOTHING!

So I guess what I"m asking is... since the CU.. has it come to this.. is there really no one playing SWG anymore???

Coronet's been dead since JtL...

Try Theed or the Dantooine Mining Outpost.

So there still are many people playing this game, then?

Don't know that there's as many as pre-CU, I don't have the numbers, but Coronet is definately dead.

Sure there are still a good portion of people playing. But not nearly as many during the days when Coronet was at it's most populated.

As the previous poster saud, Dant is a good place.

It's too bad really, I kind of miss Coronet being busy back in those days... sure it was laggy and full of comotion, but it was Coronet. It's supposed to be busy, not a ghost town

Actually, Radiant's entire population seems to be dropping so yeah. I've had over half of my old friends quit the game, a couple others get uberminded because they made jedi, and most of my old business associates have retired.

"Jedi claims of being "broken" are like saying "But my TV isn't widescreen! It's broken! My TV can't show high-def pictures in 1080i, it can only do 720i! It's broken!" Meanwhile, crafters are saying "We'd really like to have a TV that's larger than 12" and gets more than 4 channels and doesn't constantly lose vertical control", and entertainers are saying "Can we get some color instead of this B&W piece of junk?" And smugglers? We're listening to radio programs of "The Shadow" and "The Abbot and Costello Comedy Hour" and hearing FDR's Fireside Chats. We don't even HAVE a damn TV, much less a broken one or a "broken" one by Jedi standards. I'd LOVE to be as "broken" as they are." - The Legendary Solo4114

Yeah... Coronet is dead... There are no buff lines anymore in -ANY- cities...

Though I have to admit, a few weeks back, I was looking at the bazaar in CNET and I got a tell to slice something

I don't stand in starports anymore, not enough business. Instead I just run around doing BH missions, space stuff, etc with my smuggler tag up and searchable. The majority of my customers seem to be merchants or BH, so what better to do than BH myself and go where the customers go? The merchants, they'll usually find you if they need some things sliced. I get tells all the time when I'm shopping for ship parts and stuff. I can't stand Dantooine or Lok on Bria because of the lag, so I try to avoid those planets.

I thought the NGE couldn't be any worse than the CU, but I was wrong.

Well I tried to find something to do the other night... spice isn't moving at all anymore, I have my char maxed out (Master Smuggler/Master Pistoleer), no one seems to want to buy faction anymore, and I offered FREE SLICES on Dant for about 10 mins.. NO TAKERS! So I guess my only options are: wait for the smuggler revamp (ROFL), start another character (no desire to), or just quit????

Can anyone give me a good reason to continue to play this game? I really liked it at one time, there were tons of things to do??

What i discovered is more important now more than ever is your reputation as a Smuggler. I aint refering to any sort of game mechanic that doesnt exist but YOUR repuation with the player base. Slicing certainly isnt what it used to be and the days of coronet being full of slice monkeys is no existent. Kaadara (spelling) is a good spot on most servers since its full of BH's and lets not forget Mos Eisley. Sure its full of new players but you often get Jedi and BH's hanging out and showing off to the newb's (is it just me or does anyone else really hate the show-offs in eisley). Get a good reputation for slices with a couple of players and word of mouth will do the rest. If you group with an especially good group offer them a discount next time they need a slice. They will come to you get a good deal and then go and tell there friends. Even throw in some spice (free or discounted) since there are still a few players that take it.

Trust me i was in a similier position several months ago and realised that to be a great Smuggler now is all about Reputation and Attitude not about who has the best afk slice macro

Oh and maybe start putting a small Smuggling crew together in preperation for Smuggler missions, i'm praying they make it so you can group and do the missions otherwise whats the point of owning a YT-1300

good luck mate

I find being a querky and corrupted politition of a Smuggler-Themed city to be quite fun (unless I'm giving instructions on where to put houses for the seventh time!!!)
