Yep. Thats what every class besides Jedi is nowadays. We're NPCs, the Jedis talk to us, leave, that's it. They don't need us.

This is basically what I feel everytime I logon. Now, i'm a lite roleplayer, non-grinding, game-playing guy. I don't play and grind to master my profession, 1/2 the game IS mastering my chosen profession. It's fun, I make friends, i'm apart of a guild. But this just feels like KOTOR..except the NPCs are infact players..I don't feel important anymore. Unless i'm a Jedi, i'm no hero in the galatic war. And I got this game because I could play online and be a hero where everyone could see me, kinda like Han Solo- but that's why i'm posting in the Smuggler board, am I not? Jedis get nurtured and we get absolutely nothing. We sit and slice containers all day, sooooo much for the Smuggler title, eh? We should be renamed to "Slice n' Spicers"..

Literally, when I play this game, I get the sensation 'Oh god, I can't take anymore.'

If we don't get one huge ass, mother**edit**ing publish, and many others to come, that revamps the NON-JEDI section of this goddamn game, for god sakes, i'll go insane.

Why the HELL won't the devs listen?

my solution: Kill Jedis. I find it very entertaining and highly rewarding on a personal level.

I have to support the intitial poster - we've been shafted for more than a year, the combat system has been stuffed since day one and what do we get?

2 whole publishes dedicated to Jedi? Before fixing the Combat system?

Jedi are now running around in the open duelling each other. To make matters worse BHs have been stealth nerfed - instead of being tuned up to be worth the points they spend , they've had their point cost reduced - go over and read the Bh board - they don't stand a chance agains the hordes of 'LEET' jedi out there.

This is pointless - at this rate in 6 months all there will be in this game are Force sensitives and Jedi.

You've got to wonder which Jedi players are giving the Devs 'Oral relief' to get this treatment.......

All comes down to marketing.

How can they sell more coppies of the game as efficiently as possible? plaster Jedi all over everything. Don't know if you've noticed, but any advertisement you see, be it the JTL trailer, screenshots on various websites etc. Jedi are always there, a big frickin flag saying, "Join SWG, immerse yourself in the galaxy that is Star Wars!... by grinding like a little **edit** (in the process inflating the economy, ruining the immersion factor for everyone else and completely borking the game because everyone's changing profession every 5 minutes) and then running around in the open with a lightsaber waving around, your Jedi robes for all to see and no sign of the huge presence that is theEmpire, an Empire that has a "smite as quickly as possible with any force necessary (including good old Vader paying a visit)" policey towards Jedi..", doing anything to stop you.

Oh yes, marketing has a lot to answer for, namely the single largest hindrance and scourge on a game that could quite possibly have been the best in the world otherwise.

If I was a designer for this game, I'd be very pissed off that Jedi had received precedence over the key, global systems of combat, weapon and armour crafting and the Galactic Civil War. But, there you have it. There's nothing we can do, they've made their mind up.

The best we can hope for is to provide feedback and ideas (whether you think it's their job or not, the more people thinking the more chance the best solution will be reached and I'd rather that get into the game than something substandard). The priority changes that have been made are undoubtedly wrong, but we have to deal with that and prepare for and help out as much as we can when the time comes for all the game changes that are relevant to the community as a whole. If the community persits in telling the Devs just how immersion destroying the current Jedi system is, if they persist in striving for excellence in all areas of the game, then hopefully that will rub off and we'll see the changes that will increase this games playability and ultimately its and our (fun at least) success.

Talk to people in game, ask what they think (the majority of the plater base, at least on my server, don't read these forums and don't see them as a method ofaquiring change), spread the word, ask if you can quote their views, suggest alternatives, get them to post in support of said ideas. The more voices speaking against unpopular changes (that are unpopular for the right reasons, not because someone's uberSmite2special was changedfor balance purposes, but game breaking things like "Everyone feels like they're a frickin NPC!"), the more likely we are to see more changes to set the situation right.

Jedi are a real complicated issue here. Many people play the game to become Jedi and many others who play it because they enjoy it still want to become Jedi. At the same time Jedi has been a detriment to the game. Holocrons almost destroyed the game and now the prevelance of Jedi everywhere in the game has begun to upset the balance among players that is already shot to hell. The dev focus on Jedi is due to marketing issues, they have to make it work because thats what people want.

There is no easy solution to this issue. Jedi can't be removed nor can they the only focus. Our only hope is that once this next publish is done they Devs will avoid Jedi entirely and fix everything else and make other professions just as exciting as Jedi appear to be to people.

Exactly.

These next couple of months will be really painful for the playerbase because the Jedi are getting their attention ahead of many other major aspects of the game that have long needed it.

It's understandable because the majority of the playerbase has the desire to play a Jedi- BUT if they continue to favor the whims of the jedi after publish 10- it's not going to be pretty.

I hope they know that. It's why I think they arebending over backwards to make sure everything goes right.

I will always speak out with ideas and what I think is best for our profession in the hopes to make the game everything we all dream it should be- but after that CM thing. I'm starting to feel as though we would stand a much better chance if the Jedi would say "You know, you Devs should pay some attention tootheraspects of the game afterour revamp."

Is this your first MMORPG?

You are not going to 'be a hero' with 5000 other people on the same server as you also trying to 'be a hero'. The only way you're going to get that is by playing the Knights of the Old Republic game you just mentioned.

You can be 'well known' in an MMORPG, but that is more of a social thing.

You are not going to find the gameplay you want in any MMORPG.

There are missions in which you "deliver an item while hostiles attack you" in every profession. I still don't consider [Smuggler's Alliance] pilots to be Smugglers, nor 'Smuggling' - at least not any more than Rebel Pilots or Imperial Pilots might sometimes "smuggle", with a lower-case s - JFreeman - 10/6/04

Maybe we could pay a bunch of Jedi to start screaming that they really need Smugglers and that Smugglers really need a revamp so they can help all the Jedi more.

I ran the holo-grind for about a month before i got tired of it and dropped it. I went through 2 holos and went silent, mastered commando, then gave. Ive been a master smuggler since december 4th and I know that Im going to enjoy playing a smuggler more than I ever could as a Jedi. I got to play as a Jedi on TC2 a few weeks back and I quite frankly wasnt that impressed. This just brings up a great point that my best friend in-game made a while back: This game is run by a group of people who are not true SW fans, they just do what will sell more copies of the game. Pub 9 has done nothing but porve that point over and over again. Unless this game is set in a parallel universe, this is supposed to be the middle of the GCW, which means that Jedi are few and far between, and more importantly hidden. Jedi at this time did NOT have enclaves, they did NOT walk around with their lightsabers in the open, and there were NOT very many of them.

Lets just say that they keep everything in pub 9 the way it is and lets change a few other things:

Give Jedi a reason to fear for their lives:

-Jedi TEFs, make it so if a Jedi has their lightsaber equiped they have a TEF for everyone-

-BHs have marks that they hunt, make marks that hunt Jedi, NPCs that pop up every once and a while that hunt the Jedi-

-Cortosis Weave armor, even the playing field for Non-Jedi who hunt Jedi but make it rare of course-

-NPCs, have the Devs play as either Boba Fett or Darth Vader, or other powerful NPCs, and hunt down Jedi, even make Live Events out of them, weekly Jedi hunts-

Well, Im just going to cut it short here because I know that Jedi who read this are going to call me a jedi hater, and someone is going to disagree with me, and the Devs will never take into account what Ive said here so if you want to flame this post go ahead, I don't care. This is a free forum and im just posting my opinions.

These are ideas that would make being a Jedi during this time period be the risk it is supposed to be. I believe, however, that our Star Wars galaxy has evolved beyond "cannon", as any game involving so many people would.
