The ol' Station email just reached my inbox and saw a couple of interesting notes:

Smuggler revamp / non-combat profession upgrades The smuggler revamp is important and detailed design work starts on it and several other of the non-combat professions in January. We need the context of the Combat Upgrade to be finished though before revamping the non-combat professions completely. This doesn't mean we are not going to address critical bugs and issues with professions, see the next item….

Underworld Adding to the underworld is not part of our near term plans, and probably is a candidate for a future expansion given its scope. Sorry!

Guess I would've felt better if it said "The smuggler revamp is important and detailed design work, based on the years of user feedback we've asked for, starts in January".Given that it is January - does this mean the detailed plans are already underway?

Yeah, I'm nit picking - I'm sorry - it's all the grains of salt I had to swallow

No wait - I will view this as a positive and look forward to the results!! OK - I feel better now!!

Cheers Dat

Hmmm... it's Jan now... and we've still heard nothing on the revamp. Infact, the month is almost over.I think the Devs lied to us again. I don't think it looks good for us, as always.

But here's hoping for the best.

The real question is if underworld needs to be an expansion why are master smugglers required to have it. Why not pull the two skills that might be in it into the other three lines, and then all you need is three lines of smuggler to master it.

Q: How we doing?

A: Same as always.

Q: That bad, huh?

/sigh

When will the devs give a answer and stick by it. Not say Jan and wait until Feburary. Yes I do know that the recent patch was big, but if it is going to take the devs along to time to do it then don't plan something that can't be done. Just tell us in Feb instead or something else. Then we won't get as mad. Just fustrated.

The worrying bit in that statement is "and several other of the non-combat professions".

We were all hoping for a dedicated revamp, much like the Chef's, Jedi, etc, but it seems that we may end up with one Dev working on us within a given time frame.

That could mean that instead of a well thought out, complete and balanced revamp, we will just end up with a "That will have to do 'cause that is all the time and effort we can expend on it" piece of cr@p.

Something like what was offered last year as the "This'll shut the whining Smugglers up" attempt at placating us.

I started cackling in a sorta masochistic and amused way when I was reading the Ranger boards earlier, and saw a couple people complaining about Rangers were getting passed over, and the Smugglers were getting their revamp.

The grass really is greener on the other side of the silent dev, it seems. I guess what I'm trying to say here is... keep in mind we're not the only class in need of some work, and feeling left out.

Instead of becoming a Triple Threat, I'm considering picking up parts of Squad Leader so I can be Triple Masochist.

That was my first though when I read that. I went back and re-read it to look for any justification or loopholes.

Considering that we've known for a while we're just going to be one of multiple professions getting a revamp after the CURB, the fact they titled it the "Smuggler revamp/non-combat profession upgrades" actually raises my hopes a little. I'm concerned we're not going to get the dev attention we need (though really, all we need is a few barrels of coffee and three or four weeks in a small room with GreenMarine), but if we're special enough to get our own mention in the profession revamps, it gives me the notion they might be considering taking us seriously for once.
