Thread: Rant on getting griefed for faction pricing *sigh*

I'm running late (as usual) out of Mos Eisleyto a hunting party with friends on another planet when an MBH in the starport asks if I sell faction.

*sigh* I tell him yes...figuring I can probably do this pretty quickly out of Bestine and not inconvenience my friends too much more.

He asks what I charge? I tell him 150 credits per faction point.

He says WHAT that's really expensive you sure charge a lot more than the other guys.

*Incidentall, I got my price from our own NickHeel/N'Joh...whenever I have a smuggling question in-game, I go to him...he's my mentor on such things.*

I say Fine...you don't have to do business with me. Go to the other guy. You're paying for my time, the inconvenience you're putting me through, the missions I could be running to make money.

He gets sarcastic and says oh sorry to take up your precious time and be such a problem, karma's gonna bite you in the ass, etc.. ( I am really surprised he didn't whip out the b-word)

Was I out of line? And *am* I charging too much for faction? I just made Lt Colonel, I'm Imperial, Twi'lek.

I wouldn't call that greifing myself. Now if he said ok, got you to go overt to transfer, didn't pay you, then got some opposing S.F. players to keep you kded and paralized while they took screenshots of teabagging you and send them to your mom, even of you're 30, then that would be greifing

Charge whatever you want. Your price really isn't out of line especially if you don't want to be bothered, but are still willing. My prices are set simply based on how much I don't feel like doing whatever it is. If I'm S.F., right there, and have all the faction they want on me it goes down in price real fast.

150 is a little bit much. Someone talked me down to 110 a while back, and that will never happen again.

I admit it, I'm a horrible monster. I sell for 95, sometimes even 85

But then again, I almost NEVER sell, and when I do, it's to guildies or previously established clients who make selling worth it.

He wasn't griefing you so much as he was giving you grief. While I admit that 150 credits per faction point is a little high, that's not even double of what it costs you up front to get it, not to mention how much you lose in the transfer. Personally, I sell for 130 credits per faction point. If I get people giving me grief or trying to haggle, I tell them that my time is thier money, and if they don't want to pay my price, they are free to find someone else. If they keep trying to haggle or continue to act like an ass, my price goes up untill either they get the hint, or I leave.

Just remember that you play this game to have fun, not to be the instrument which makes the game easier for others. Or, at least, I hope you do.

I thought you sold for 110...

It's really the deep space grinders that are ripping everyone off at 90 cr per point.

I had a very funny thing happen to me a couple weeks ago. I was standing at the faction recruiter on Rori when this guy walks up to me and asks how much I charge for FP. I tell him that I normally charge 120c each but that I can work with him if he wants to buy a good bit. He then laughs and tells me that I am ripping people off. I then explain to him that it costs me about 80c per point and I do like to make a little proffit for my time. He then calls me a liar and says that it only costs 74c per point and even less with an entertainer buff. I politely tell him that well 74c is pretty darn close to 80c and honestly I didnt know about the buff thing. I thanked him for the info and considered the conversation over.

This is where it actually gets pretty funny. I was actually there transfering FP to my alt armorsmith so he could buy armor schematics. As I am tabbed over to my alt I get a tell from the same guy. He asks what I am doing standing in front of the recruiter for. I simply tell him I am buying some faction armor. A few seconds go by and he then tells my alt that I shouldnt buy fromGordlad (my main character) because he is just ripping people off. He then asks how much Gordlad is charging me for the faction. I tell him that I am getting it at a good price. He asks if Gordlad was charging me 120c per point. I told him no lower than that. He then tells me that he will only charge me 70c per point. I tell him that I am getting it cheaper than that. It goes back and forth like this for a few mins and the guy even trys to ask Gordlad how much I am charging Damyotes (my alt). He finally starts to catch on (I think for the first time in about 20 mins he realizes we both are wearing the same PA tags) and says oh he guesses I am cutting a guildmember a deal. I simply reply close but no cigar and then head out.

The whole time I stayed polite even though this guy was being a total jerk. Its amazing although this guy was so "concerned" for my alts well being in this deal he really couldnt care less about the fact that he was being a total ass.

The funniest thing was a guild member later saw him and noticed he had changed his BIO to read something along the lines "Selling faction points for XXX per point. Lowest in the galaxy except if you are buying them from your alt" Not exactly what it said but you get the jist.

Entertainer buff when buying gives 1375 instead of 1250 for 100K. Makes it equal something like 72.7272 credits each.

Got to love those entertainer.

I alts also enjoy buying faction from me, should I chage them?

Also if the person getting them from you is buffed they get a 10% bonus as well.

I use that as a way of talking that customer who can't quite aford how much hey want into still buying knowing that they will still get enough.

Btw, I sell for 125 each, unless I don't like who I'm seling to then it's 150.

Just tell them your price is high to keep the bozos away, kinda like those fancy restaurants that charge a ton of money for a meal. Luckily I am neutral so I have the best excuse for not selling faction. =)

120 imp, and I make a lot of sales.

Ran a "sale" not long ago for 100, but it's no longer neccissary.

To be honest, I've yet to hear someone complain other than "Wow, FP is expensive". My reply has always been "yup".
