Thread: Spice Downer ... what's that?

Ok .. the words "Spice Downer" and "nerf" are mentioned all the time and to be quite honest with ya, I don't know what the nerf was/is. I never use spice and I don't make it either (shows how well spice fits in with Smuggler, huh?)
Can someone explain?

You use to get the HAM reduction back immediately after the downer passed. Now you have to wait for it to regenerate, adding to the down time.

Ahhh Thanks.
It's been so long since I used spice (and lived to see the downer) that I didn't know that was a nerf.

That is correct, and it's a real b!tch. It only applies to Neutron Pixie if I remember correctly making half our useful spices even MORE undesireable.

No, it happens to all of them. I routinely use Booster Blue when I'm not buffed, and am alwaysaffected. This is one of the reasons I cant drop novice medic to free up some points for much needed pistoleertrees.

Oh yeah...they did spread it to all of them. There was a time when it only applied to neutron.

Its better than getting incapacitated by the Pixie when its downer hits.

Although it may be better, its a seperate issue. What your ham bars do after the downer isn't really related to the initial effect of the downer itself. The ham bars will drop regardless. Its getting them all back or having to waste time waiting that is the issue. Not to mention:
The smuggler community was never informed that this change was coming.
This change destroyed what little spice market there was after the chef revamp.
This change was made and the reason for the change was never shared with us. The correspondent at the time knows they reason, but he is forbidden to share that reasoning with us.
So it was a negative change to a suffering system, without warning andSTILLno explanation.
I think we have a valid gripe.

I used some Vasarian Brandy spice and didn't see any downer at all, after it gave +400 to mind, focus, and willpower for 45 minutes.

Good one...
I remember when the spices were the top buffing stuff... Then, the doctors came and started the buffing... All fine, since everyone still buying stuff from us. Then, the chef revamp... And I lost all my addicted costumers.
I really do not see why insist on the spice stuff. There is too much HAM buffs already... Only if we got impact on crafiting/fighting mods...

im not too fond of these downers. people wont even except my spice for free, which makes me wonder, do ireally wanna get into the just plain neutron pixie market? id like for all spices to serve a role.
