Way ahead of you, I already don't do any of that, for some of these reasons. But I don't think anyone's noticed yet rofl.

When one person does it, it is easy to ignore. If the entire profession does it, it will change the way the game is played. Stay strong Max.

Though I've pretty much done the same...once my tools run out I'll not make or buy new ones...I don't think this has ever worked. It has been called for on more than one occasion in the past and there are always enough scabs to make it ineffective.
I'm basically done with 'smuggler' as SOE has implimented it. I'll earn my money in space for the time and if they don't hop to it and get around to the smuggler revamp fairly soon I'll be gone.
Unfortunately a few patches ago I started experienced very loooong load times and huge lag that I don't have with other games like CoH. While I like the complexity of SWG much more and have much more time invested I am really getting frustrated with the lag and load times.

There will always be someone making spice and someone slicing. Efforts are futile...

Yep sad but true. I stopped Spice and Slice for the GP months and months ago. Has made no difference in the big picture. Now if there was an emote that let us set ourselves on fire woo that would be a statement. 1000's of smugglers lighting up the night sky in a flesh burning blaze of glory!

Boycotts can't work when people don't participate.
People dont participate for mainly two reasons, either they don't belive it will work, witch is a self-fullfilling prophecy that can be easly broken. Can't you see that you have the power to make this work?
Or they see an opertunitly to raise prices, and make a fortune for themselves.
That is why you must belive this can work. For participation from all smugglers, we need to do two things.
1) Solidarity among smugglers. We hold true to the boycott, and we convince those who don't belive that it is in their own interests to participate.
2) Tell the SWG communitly what we are doing and why. If everyone knows that the smugglers are boycotting, anyone slicing or spicing will be known for what they are, a scab.
inaction is easier than action. all we have to do is not slice or spice.

Can't you see that you have the power to make this work? - while your enthusiasm is great remember there are a ton of Smugglers who dont read the forums and dont really care.
Or they see an opertunitly to raise prices, and make a fortune for themselves.

1) Solidarity among smugglers. We hold true to the boycott, and we convince those who don't belive that it is in their own interests to participate. - we dont have jedi mind trick skills.
2) Tell the SWG communitly what we are doing and why. If everyone knows that the smugglers are boycotting, anyone slicing or spicing will be known for what they are, a scab. - lol I wish that were true but remember one persons scab is anothers slicer.
inaction is easier than action. all we have to do is not slice or spice. - all we have done is fight and post and b*tch all to no avail remember your talking to smugglers who have been around since day one and have fought hard to try and make a difference. The fact is you will not rally all the smugglers only the few who follow the forums. Inaction is a poor word to use, look at the pages apon pages of text we all put together and offered to the dev's time and time again to improve our profession.
I support what your trying to do and since im not slicing or spicing anyway I guess Im behind you, just dont get to bummed out when nothing comes of it.

Call me negative but I don't see this working at all. This is placing a hold on services we provide to the public and has little bearing on those who actualy make the decisions. If you think for one minute that the public will suddenly realize our plight if we refuse to slice for them you are mistaken I believe. It will only make them angry with us. Have you not noticed from the non-smuggler trolls to our forum that our plight is not seem empathecally from the other professions? I believe they call us whiners and the like. In truth there is nothing we can do that will get any notice other than cancel our accounts. And that is something I for one am not ready to do yet. I still hold on to the hope that we will be fixed.
HAVING SAID ALL THAT!!!! I want to know what happened to our unseen order? The cross server smugglers den??? Because although I don't necessarily see the point I would be willing to participate in an organized, peaceful, and non bannable offense smuggler move. In other words...if the smuggler community unites...I will unite with you. However I feel that we would need more organization that just the boards. Something that the Smuggler's Den may have provided. Unfortunately it seems to have faded. Maybe I'll go bump that post to see if it is still in the works.
I wish there was something we could do...but...I can't think of it. I don't want to punish the wrong people.

There is a fatal flaw with your planned boycott...
If people really *needed* us, it would work...but the general population doesn't really need us for anything...
I personally don't slice anymore...not because I chose to stop...but because I stopped being asked. When you can stand in Coronet on a Friday night, tagged and searchable, for a solid hour, and only recieve ONE (1) /tell asking for Slicing, you know you're done.
I'm not gonna say "all", but a fair number of WS and AS have Smuggler alts, or have Smuggler / WS or Smuggler / AS templates, and provide their own sliced weapon and armor vendors. Therefore, cutting out the need for after-market slicing.
Doc buffs and Chef foods did away with the *need* for Spices. Granted, some powergamers still hold onto their Spice addiction, but it's nothing that they couldn't do without.
So, yeah...we could go with your boycott...which wouldn't really change the way I play. But, the people with Smuggler alts (who don't really care about the Smuggler profession), would just fill in the void that we leave...so the general populace really wouldn't know we weren't around...
