Alright, I try my hardest to tell all my customers for slicing that I require payment after the slices are done. 9 times outta 10 this is not a problem, but every now and then you get a guy who claims to have paid you while you were slicing or at some earlier point. I always check my spatial/combat chat windows to verify this, but when I dont see them and the customer is claiming he DID pay me, red flags start flapping in gusts of wind in my head. In my opinion, I have the right to hold onto the customers armor or weapons until I can verify payment. One time, I even held a weapon for about an hour until the guy admitted he did not pay. But then you get people claiming they will call CSR's down on you and stuff, and you have very little choice but to hand over the free sliced goods.
I am curious, what are we to do over such things? I've had this happen to me as a doctor as well, wherin I just refused to buff the character in question, but as a smuggler I am holding their 250k suit of armor or 100k krayt weapons, and unsure weather or not I truely did recieve payment or am getting screwed. Is it justifyable to hold onto the goods until payment/veryfication, or do we just have to give up the stuff and lose our money?

1. Take all money out of your bank account when slicing. If you only cash you can spot fake bank tips right away.
2. Slice in lesser populated areas so spatial doesn't get too clogged with spam.

A couple days ago there was a pretty long thread about this that you might get some info about. It was called Just so I'm clear on this...
There, fixed.

People will always bank tip you when you least expect it. Or /tip you at the worst times. It's tough, but try and keep track. No policies on God's green earth can save you.
Except this one:
If you don't think you have the money, DON'T give them back their stuff.
That's it. Pure and simple, cut and dried. Let them call CSR. Let them complain to God himself. Until you confirm payment, it's your stuff. This is what I tell them...
"Because of your lack of payment I am now going to place this item on my vendor for DOUBLE the amount of the slice. You may buy it back from there. If it is still there in one week's time I will take it out and sell it to the highest bidder. Thank you."

I have a buddy who has a perfect example for how to fix this situation.
If he is not paid, he will post the item on the bazarr for the amount he was supposed to be paid in the first place. He tells the scammer/slacker this. After five minutes he beignes to /shout that there is a pre sliced whatever with good stats for only X on the bazaar.
He alwaqys get what he was owed.

awwwwwwww yeah.
If they bank tip you it's great because you get an e-mail telling you they did so (although sometimes it comes a lil' slow).

I dont care if they call the CSRs on me, If I dont see any money in my bank or on hand then they arnt getting their weapon or armor back intill they do so. I Higly doubt they will come. If they do they will know if anything has happend or not. If I was wrong about him not paying me then Ill trade it, honest mistake.
I always take SS befor any trading happends of my enventory
Always check your inventory after they have "Payed you" so you can check your fundage. And take a SS.
Always say pay me after I have sliced the weapon or armor. I like to use the % instead of a even amount, So they will have to wait intill Im done to know the amount.
I dont like bank tips so I always try to say "No bank Tips." Im going to start saying " Dont bank tip, or tip me the money use the trade window" So I will adviod people from trying to pay me befor and try to screw me over.
Dont give in to lowering your prices or give out a free slice. Otherwise you will be deemed as easy, if they dont got the money then its yours intill they pay you. I had a CRS agree with me that I was in the right about keeping the weapon intill the he payed me.
In the end I hope they have a trade window for smugglers like they do for Image Disigner.

I was curious to see if my actions were justifyable. I'm more or less worried about what could potentially happen if I did get tipped and me believing I did not, despite checking my logs, and holding somebody's materials.
Last night I had a run in with a rebel player (wont state name) that did NOT pay, but was raising @#!$ about how I ran a dirty business and yelling at my other customers and stuff. The guy wouldnt lay off, despite me KNOWING I did not get paid (he was the first one that I sliced, and my account was dry as I always put all my money on my alt character before I do these things). In the end I just gave up, cause he was ruining my business in coronet and making more of a scene than I cared for. 4k was his bill, and he wouldnt pay it. Heh, he deserved his 15% speed slice on his krayt scatter. Random game mechanics working on my side I suppose.

Dude...don't give in. SLice for enough people and your reputation will carry out for you. Most people don't listen and they'll want to believe you, not him, because they want you to slice their gear too.

Every times this happens, I keep the item. If I'm feeling particularly generous, I'll offer it up to the public on my vendor at market-value. The scammer will never learn until he gets burned!
And I've *never* had a CSR care about this. They're too short-handed to deal with game-breaking problems, let alone some crybaby worried about his sliced equipment.

While I was playing a musician, I went into the chat colors and set it to highlight in blue any messages saying I've been tipped (I use red and orange for other messages, but they're effective as well). At the time, it was so I could thank whoever it was that tipped me, but once I went smuggler, I find it to be invaluable for being able to easily notice whenever I'm tipped, especially while my screen is covered in UI windows.
I don't know anything about bank tipping scams. How does that work? Does it happen often?
I have noticed a tendency of people to pay me either before they give me the item or while I'm slicing. I think I'll start stipulating payment in the trade window from now on.

What i don't understand is why people don't just use the tender box in the trade window. it is there specificaly so that people can feel secure when trading goods or services. I understand that doc's need the bank tip so they can keep track of who is next in line, but when trading goods there is no reason why people should not use the tender box if not so that they can avoid having to wait while we verify their payment
