Well recently got the game about 2 days ago, and im wanting to make a smuggler. just dont know what skills to use like novic Scout, dotn know if i will need this to harvest stuff of dead creatures for making spices when i finally get around to the master smuggler tree. And novice medic, i dont know if to use this so i can heal myself in combat. but then i cant make stim pack things without artisan skill, im kinda stuck in what to chose as im an uber newbie.
But if anyone can post with diffrent templates and what not or advice on keeping scout and medic i would appretiate this very much.
sorry if none of this makes sense as at the moment still new and dont have a clue what im going on about

Hey if you want to contact me to give you a hand to start in game name is GRUK
as far as waht skills to invest in it wont hurt you to take a few novice skills such as scout, medic, marksman....etc you will have enough skill points to play with a few character building options.
i play as master smuggler master pistoleer. i love the profession even though it may seem to be a bit lacking by observation of forums.
once again if you need some help to get going please contact me in game

To become a novice Smuggler, you need UnarmedIV (from Brawler) and Pistols IV (from Marksman). Other than that there are no requirements.

Amdora...
As far as the smuggler spice tree is concerned, you only need TWO resources to finish the tree: meat and some metal. These are the two ingredients to the spice Shadowpaw. If you have enough meat and enough metal, you can craft shadowpaw to finish all four boxes of the entire spice tree. Obviously, Scout can harvest meat from dead animals. However, if you don't have a mineral extractor, you will have to buy metal or hope for kindness from strangers.
Another tip: Buy three or four (or more) identical crafting tools that make Shadowpaw and try to keep them crafting continuosly. You should be able to finish that tree in one (BORING) night. Put them in your toolbar, and look for a macro to use with them. (I did it all manually with lots of mouse clicks).

That was a very long time ago, and by this time buffs were non existant when i did my smuggler grind, so it took me a while. But what i figured is that i needed some side skills to help me along :
novice scout and exploration branch ( at least explo II so that you can mask scent, Explo IV is better though)
novice medic so that i could heal myslef (grinding unarmed can take pretty long if you spend more time incapped than fighting.
novice entertainer so that i could heal my wounds and BF in places where there are no entertainers (even though it's pretty long, at least you don't have to shuttle to corolag city).
novice artisan and survey 3 or 4 so that i could gather ressources to make a living (selling radioactive power is a good income source for beginners)
as long as you don't have any problems with skill points use them all, it will give you lots of skills, so lots of skills to teach and make it easier to get the 620 app points.
As you'll be going up the tree, you'll have to surrender skills to be able to learn some new ones, first to go off, unles syou enjoy it, will be netertainer, then certainly artisan, and some scout skills maybe.
Another way to help you to get the large amount of pistol XP is to get a little bit of Creature Handler so that you have a tank to help you, you can drop it when you don't need it any longer.
Generally speaking, using all your skill points allows you to have a feeling about the whole game, see what you prefer, and hemps you handle your career on its best way.

Cynicism is innateto us smugglers. You'll grow a thicker skin once you get into the profession some more.
Until then, send a PM my way if you're on Bria. ill set you up with cash, armour, weapons, and most importantly....advice.

Talk like Yoda, he does.
Novice Medic with some good Stim B's is really nice to have. Scout is nice, too. The Triple Master Might interest you.
Master Smuggler, Master Pistoleer, Master Teras Kasi (Unarmed fighting)
