Thread: Smuggler Alliance question...

I thought I remembered reading that it was "True Neutral" ... but today in reading, I see that CorSec is "True Neutral" and Smuggler Alliance is "Rebel alligned"

Is this correct? Are there any Imperial Smuggler Alliance pilots out there? Did I shoot myself in the foot by going Imperial (obviously yes on many levels, but more specifically on pilot)

I don't think any of the paths are true neutral. RSF shoots down the Rebel Vette, CorSec does the Imperial Vette, and Smuggler's Alliance does the Imperial Vette.

I had heard once that CorSec had a choice, but I don't think they do.

This just goes to show you how screwed up and complex the Devs can make things (most of the time) when you can get someone like Geevo turned around.

space factions have no conection to ground factions..if you fly for corsec and have -5000 corsec faction on the ground they will still attack you...the only alignment privateers including smuggler's alliance have are the one the player has so if your an imperial and fly for the smugglers your an imperial smuggler

I was a ground Imperial, space Smuggler's Alliance for a while. It was annoying to have to be attacking Imperial stuff all the time, but I pretended I was being paid well (and I suppose I was), so my underdeveloped sense of ethics wasn't much troubled by that situation.

As far as I've heard, RSF pilots can't attack anything Imperial, but both CorSec and SA can attack either side with impunity. They might be "Rebel aligned," but that doesn't really mean anything in terms of what you can and can't attack, just in terms of what types of missions you tend to receive.

What about going overt for FP? Is it possible to grind Imperial FP? Is it possible to grind Rebel FP? If so, how?

Imperial on the ground, Smuggler's Alliance in the air. My understanding was that RSF was slightly Imperial-aligned, CorSec was slightly Rebel-aligned, and Smuggler's Alliance was the true neutral. There are a few missions that require you shoot Imperial ships, but it's only in a law-breaking capacity, rather than a "Woo! Rebel terrorist!" capacity.

I haven't had any trouble being a ground Imp and a space Privateer... although I am kinda disappointed that the Ace corvette is an Imperial one, as I only know 2 other Privateer pilots, and lots of Imperial ones. In a strictly roleplay sense, I'm sure the Imperial Ranger guild I work for wouldn't be too happy to hear that I've been shooting down Imperial corvettes, especially since I'm in charge of "Deep Space Reconnaissance." (P.S. Thanks boss, for the really hard to spell title. )

As for FP, and PvP in space stuff, being a privateer actually gives you options. You can always declare overt Imperial (or Rebel) and fight whom you want to fight, whether it be PvP, or shooting Rebels out of the sky. You do have to go declare at an Imperial space station, in order to get faction for it, so it's a minor hassle, but not too big of a deal.

One last tidbit about having Imperial friends, though... On the missions where you have to fight Imperial ships, even though the Imperial NPC ships can't damage Imperial player ships, and vice versa, they can and will target Imperial player ships, and shoot at them, instead of you. So all else fails, have a couple Imperial shields fly with you.

Hmm. In my experience as a privateer, I could only declare in space for the faction I was on the ground. Furthermore, when I went to Deep Space as an Imperial, once I left the sector Imperial ships would start showing up as white dots instead of yellow, and the only way I knew of to fix that was to redeed the ship you took to Deep Space.

It's also my understanding that true neutrals without a ground faction can't declare at Rebel or Imperial stations, which means they can't gain FP for either side. I haven't tested this myself, but I've seen it come up on the pilot forums now and then.

That Deep Space issue is a known bug, I just haven't been paying enough attention lately to notice if they've fixed it yet or not.

I've had no trouble shooting at Imperial ships. I haven't personally tried to declare Rebel in space, but going either side was talked about a lot in the Pilot boards. I also know that you can go merrily into Kessell and shoot whatever you want there.

The reason being is that CorSec will fight Imperials just as much as they fight Rebels, and they get a choice on which side's Master Trainer to visit. When the "Smuggler's" Alliance attacks Imperials a bit more often than they do Rebels, and they have to visit the Rebel Master trainer.

Well, the way I see it, late entry into threads is my punishment for sleeping for a day(get home from work, curl up on the foot of my bed; midday, wake up and get under the covers; evening, actually get out of my work clothes, and then get back under the covers).
