some days i just feel this game hates me, personally - i have a 12-pt MWS on one char and a M.Smuggler on another - now, when i make weapons for other people, i get amazing assemblies & amazing experiementation rolls, yet when i craft for me i generally get average and goods. And, as if that weren't bad enough, it's the same when i slice - i get 33%+ for other people, and >20% for my own
case in point: since yesterday, i have made a krayt scatter, 4 krayt laser carbs and 2 krayt EE3 carbs, all for my own use- not only were my assembling/exp rolls typically crap, but after slicingi've gotten 15% speed, 2 x 16% speed, 18% speed, 17% speed and 15% speed (in that order)
i'm soooo bummed. i generally tell my customers that any slice is better than nothing, but as a speed capped carbineer-totting BH, it just bums me that i've used all those tissues and my best resources and not only is the assembly mediocre, but the slicing is even worse.
i'm going to start getting someone else to slice MY stuff, as i am less bummed when someone else gets low results
sorry to vent and moan, i normally save that for the Gorath boards, am just a little frustrated and dissapointed right now

I almost quit again today.
This guy spends his life savings on a nice Laser Carbine. We have a laugh /kneeling for the Slice Gods etc and I give him a 20% Speed slice. What a sickener.
The fact that a hard speed caps exist and so many professions cap with relatuve ease is the root of the problem. It instantly makes the speed slice worthless.
I pray this is addressed in the CU.

I had the same happen to me as I'm sure many others have had.
My own story I bought 6 decent damage VKs for my own use, I'm capped for speed as a TKM plus I has FS melee speed not sure if that even works lol. Sure enough 6 slices all speed. I cried IRL. Just had to suck it up and gave them to somefriends that were working on TK. Just hoping for one to be a decent damage slice. Even 15% I would have been happy with.
/sigh

I keep forgetting the blood! That's the problem!

Eh, I know the feeling, Martha. Always seems you get the worst and others get the best.
But I'll slice you stuff for ya if you need it.

Something has to seperate the good stuff from the awsome uber stuff.
I personally dont slice the weapons that my weaponsmith sells. The reason is that I dont want to take the business away from other smugglers and I also dont want to take the risk of getting a "bad" slice. I sell all of my stuff pretty much so I have no worries.
I personally like the current slicing system, where any joe blow smuggler can slice for someone. If we did make it quality based then it would lose its common man style and there would be the dozen or so good slicers that everyone would go to.
Im not picky though and will go with whatever way the developers want us to go.

little update from the whining smuggler: because the idea that this is random and that i can't just keep getting crap slices has been killing me all day, i just made 3 more EE3's using the last of my good tissues and sliced them - i got 16%, 17% and 20% speed.
i'm so bummed. that's 9 potentially beautiful carbs (for my own personal needs) essentially wasted

Very simple. Master smugglers deserve to choose thier attribute. It is such a simple thing, Master Smugglers get little to no reward for mastering the profession, they need some kind of bonus to crawl over the Slicer 4's other than a "phantom" slicing bonus.
Nuff said.

Well, I'm probably going to be crucified for even thinking this, but I hate the idea of being able to choose. Even at Master.
I would be 100% happy with a simple floor at each Slicing box; i.e., Masters can't slice any lower than 20%-25% on weapons and armor, respectively.
I don't know, I just think that the combination of uber-weapons + ability to choose type of slice + anti-decay kits = disaster.
Since we're already at 2/3, I don't think it's a good idea to go for the win.

I always like it when an idiot of an customer gets a low and wrong slice. Karma I say. I don't want to choose the type of slice.
