Thread: Amount of credits Fined to People who fail scans?

I think that this should be based on the amount of money someone has in there Bank/Cash. That way it can hit everyone equily hard. I think 1% of your total credits seems like a good idea.. that means that people who have 1 million credits get hit for 10k but people who have 100 million credits get hit for 1 million credits.
Some type of system that hits everyone equaly hard. You could have something like a floor and a ceiling so that you would always be fined at least 5k and never find over 1 million or something like that.
Sure there is a loop hole that some poeple might have mulitiple accounts and keep all the money on one account but still not everyone will have time and want to do that and that is there right if they buy more than one account.
Any thoughts or problems with the idea.. maybe they should be fined more or less?

While I think that fines should be stiffer than the couple hundred credits they are now, I think a percentage of your total wealth is a little unreasonable. Good lord, I'd have to morgage my home if speeding tickets worked like that.
I think they should be in the thousands of credits, however. And to simulate hard labor in the event you are broke and can't pay the fine, they should warp you to Tatooine, issue you a CDEF pistol and have you knock down 100 rockmites or something before you can take the shuttle off planet.
Back on the chain gang...
Actually, I kinda like this idea. If you cannot pay, you must work for the debt.

However tongue-in-cheek, stuff like that would be interesting. Obligatory missions to earn/keep factional ranks would be interesting too. And not to mention daily errands for the Jedi Council in hiding (that doesn't really exist

And not to mention daily errands for the Jedi Council in hiding (that doesn't really exist) you would have to perform in order to play a Jedi character. Or bounty missions you'd have to do for Jabba in order to get various perks from him. Etc. I would love to see actual profession content somehow 'forcing' people to really play the profession they chose. But there would be so much people complaining about all of that...
Would that include... Smugglers... dare I say it? Smuggling?!? It'll never happen!
(Meant entirely in jest of course
My god, welcome communist HELL. No way!!!

Im with ya Surseance, % based fines only punish the ones who go make money and hold onto it if the fine is 1k or 5k or 100k it should be that for EVERYBODY! if you only have 6k and the fine is 10K...well i guess now your broke..dont do the crime if you cant do the time.
If I have 100 million and you only have 60k and we both have a crate of Moun on us, get scaned and fined, you'd pay 600 credits...and I would pay 1,000,000.
HOW is that even remotely FAIR?

As I have said only the seizure of the illegal item will have appropriate sting to it.
Sadly I think we have to accept the fact that if the new tef systems fly through the imperial crackdown is truely over. Thats why we got the mooey mooey good faction point cap lifted.
We just have to come to terms with the fact that the crackdown is probabally going to be a memory soon.
I am also willing to bet that sliceing armor will be simplified to one peice affairs, and weapons sliceing will be reduced or even removed from the game to prevent inbalances.
The future is pretty damn bleak for smugglers in my oppinion.
The future is what you make it to be. Granted, its hard to make good things with lousy tools, but on the other hand I've seen some very creative people do fantastic work with limited resources. Its all in the amount of thought you put into it and how you adapt to the changes coming towards us.
If you want to log in for 90 minutes to 2 hours at a time, and just be able to play, then maybe this isn't the best profession for that kind of play style. You might consider finding a profession in which you find to be entertaining if your outlook is so bleak. No sense in being miserable, especially since you are paying for the game time.

Wow, what a thoughtful, well argued point, an intellegent and wise posting, I don't know man, you just seem far more mature and studied recently, it's almost like, like, you broke the 1,000 post mark recently. OH Wait...
Sorry - I'm just a jerk before 8am in the morning
Couldn't have put that better myself, I don't believe the smuggler profession is on it's last legs, I am waiting to see what the CU brings, and I'm sure the Devs are watching the smugglers closely to see if any of these changes affect the Smuggler (and I don't believe they're doing it because they love Smugglers, but because we have the most opportunity to wreck their world with the faction cap lifting among other things) So to make declarations that we're in trouble - man - it's just too early.
Cheers
