I'm afraid that the removal of the 500 faction point cap might not be enough to help our rapidly dwindling faction point sales...
As we all know, JTL introduced a new, rapidly accellerated way to earn faction points. Let me stop and say right now that this is not a bad thing! The problem is not the new, more easily accessible faction points, the problem is that the rates at which we buy faction points hasn't changed since implementation and as such, we can now be easily undercut but anyone with a ship and some time. Again, I'm not saying that the JTL FP is a problem. The problem is the (now) too high cost of faction points bought by smugglers.
In short, this is our problem.

I agree, thats why I think we're screwed as far as this goes. Sure a smuggler can get the fp quickly, and there is still a market for that, but a semi-faction farmer (even if its just for xp) can gain it a lot cheaper.
Also, this game is old enough, that most that want to be colonel, already are, meaning they have just been getting faction with very little to spend it on

Actually, with base timers working again, I'm forseeing a return to the sale of faction points... but if we can't get it cheaper than what we currently can, allowing us to sell it for less in turn, then it's not going to be smugglers doing the largest part of the FP selling.

That is kinda a problem. Perhaps we could still find involvement in faction deals though because of our 25% discount. Even still, the 25% they would save on faction purchases by hiring a smuggler to buy it is nowhere near the money they would save just buying it themselves.
Hmmmm. This does suck, for lack of a better word.

I've sold around 100k FP in the last couple of weeks. I don't see it being an immediate concern.
And with the new patch (I really wish they would hurry and push it live) allowing us to stock up on FP, we'll still be the most reliable regular source of FP on our servers.
The farmers can still only /del 51k tops at a time, then they have to say "Oh, give me another day or so. I'll be back."
For Smugglers, once our orignal 51k is /del-ed, we can always hit the recruiter for more and be "recharged" in 10 minutes or so.

You must be funding the Imperial front lines to be dealing with so many faction points.

Not really...just a few odd jobs here and there...
But, it's really been picking up in the last couple of weeks.
4 of the deals have been former Rebels defecting over to the Empire.

Beyond that though, I've sold 3 AT-STs in the last 2 weeks...most likely for the instant solo-group they provide.

Hmm how about buying it from the faction farmers? If you can get it for 80C/FP or even below...
