I'm on a roll today. So anyway, to go with a real crackdown... Jail. I know its been suggested, but bore's my idea. the ST's arrest you, you are warped to a major city Jail, or aplayer city Jail.At this point you car attempt to bribe the Jailer, which would not work all the time (and the chance for success would go up withe Underworld tree.) , or you can serve your time, or you can either slice your way out or hire a Slicer to get you out. Smuggle would be useful, the crackdown would be a concern, and you wouldn't be forced to sit in jail. (either hire a smuggler, be a smuggle, or don't do what you did to get arrested. BH's could be included somehow too.

Man, I'm bored right now. can you tell?

This makes Smugglers too needed if you get what I mean. I would love to seejails and prisons, but allow a Slicer to access the terminals and turn off the alarms when a group goes in with some fire power to bust someone out. In other words, if a Slicer turns the alarms off, you only gotta fight the guards, but if you don't shut em down reinforcements come.

How's that sound?

"Jedi claims of being "broken" are like saying "But my TV isn't widescreen! It's broken! My TV can't show high-def pictures in 1080i, it can only do 720i! It's broken!" Meanwhile, crafters are saying "We'd really like to have a TV that's larger than 12" and gets more than 4 channels and doesn't constantly lose vertical control", and entertainers are saying "Can we get some color instead of this B&W piece of junk?" And smugglers? We're listening to radio programs of "The Shadow" and "The Abbot and Costello Comedy Hour" and hearing FDR's Fireside Chats. We don't even HAVE a damn TV, much less a broken one or a "broken" one by Jedi standards. I'd LOVE to be as "broken" as they are." - The Legendary Solo4114

Well, I don't think I shouldbe looking at that! I'm a lady!

EDIT: on a side note, I really like that idea...I bet if you really refined it and fleshed it out, it would be of interest when our time comes. It's certainly different, and gives an element of danger to people in game.

Theed was a bustling commerce city...people hawked their wares, danced, laughed, dueled, and had a rollicking good time. Cantinas packed with Entertainers of every race, shape and size...along with scoundrels, Stormtroopers, and drunks. People grouped up and stuck together in the wilderness, and you ALWAYS took a Scout or a Ranger with you. We lived our own Star Wars saga. We created our own personas, our own histories, and it all blended into this wonderful, magical experience that I will always remember...

That magic is gone now, but I'd pay 50 bucks a month to have it back.

Editor's Note: The author of the above post has quit giving SOE her money. She suggests you do the same, because this game will never be what you want it to be.

I've brought up the whole jail idea before as well... didn't seem anyone liked it. Thought you could either stay there until your sentance was up (which would probably be only a few minutes and a fine) or break out and fight. But no one really seemed to like it.

Problem is... the Empire would rather shoot you then take the time you arrest you. It's easier to have you dead then have you in a cell.

Great idea, would love to see this happen to players trying to leave a planet with illegal goods.

Didn't even think of the fight your way out method... Good idea, but I'd like the just straight fight to be TOUGH for once...Make the other options more viable.

Here's my take on your idea. Do not make being put in jail something that would happen without player consent. I know, sounds wimpy, but listen up!

Have a player or group of players be able to be put in jail as a sort of quest they would do for fun. They would talk to an NPC to get them involved in what is happening. Now while in prison, they could do a number of things that you mention, and having a smuggler on this quest would be a definite bonus.

There are an asston of stories you could implement, including gathering information/materials from other cell mates or guards, accessing facility blueprints, etc. etc. etc.

Being put in prison is a very big deal, not something that could or should happen at random. Make it a special quest, where a smuggler would be quite handy in.

LOL man, I dunno. Unless the person put in jail could call a smuggler on the outside with a radio (and then put the mission on the smuggler terminals), I don't see this happening.

It all comes down to this: bondage. Yep, bondage. Some people like it. Some actually love it. It gets them off.

My point? My point is that the only people who are going to accept being locked up are the people who would get their rocks off on it.

Another good note about bondage: it is only fun if the other person is comfortable with it.

Some people aren't ready for bondage man.

Make being jailed voluntary, and part of an interesting adventure!!!

(Disclaimer: I am not into bondage)

Give it as an option when scanned.

Imperial - Lose rank and pay fine or go to jail

Neutral - Pay fine or go to jail

Rebel - Turn over or pay fine and go to jail

Just like going to cloner, you are sent to nearest detention facility. While in jail, all items are clouded in inventory meaning they are unuseable. All weapons and armor that are equiped do not work or give bonuses, including AA's/CA's.Jail is on timer depending upon offence (# of illegal items picked up in scan / Rank in Imperial or Rebel faction). Paying fee can reduce time or let you out of jail. Timer does not continue while loged off so player will be punished for actual game time. Upon leaving the jail all items are unclouded and useable. Having Smuggler slice the lock can get you released. Or if ALL guards are killed, lock can be opened from access panel in guard room. Not accessable until all guards are killed. If it get's bugged then smuggler slice will always be available.

Rebels trying to break out a friend will be killed. Imperials trying to break out a friend will be imprisoned with no fee option.

Oh,I like that idea Elpucko!!!

If only they could give you more interesting things to do in jail, like stealing your inmate's applesauce.

No, seriously, give the inmate an option to send a /tell to their friends so they can bust them out. You could also give the prisoner the option to put a mission on the smuggler terminals begging to have them sliced out!

Anyways, great idea on implementing prisons Elpucko!

I think it goes without saying you'd be able to send /tells. Also, I don't see it as involuntary if done right. But I just don't want to see Some way too easy way out. If not everyone is on an equal footing with things in a game, there's no point in anyone doing it. Like my other post today, with crackdwon teams. I love the idea of them, but have yet to see any of the new squads, because I don't go to Espa. I suppose I could go seek out these squads, to get my fix of "content" but unfortunately, not everyone plays by the same rules, and so I am discouraged from doing so. Maybe this idea wouldn't work, because people would complain about it taking away from their busy schedule of grinding the fun right out of the game...

The devs shut down the idea of Jail ages ago. As has been said here, players just won't like it. They won't go for it. It will bore them.
