Thread: Master Smuggler Slicing
Just sliced two extremely expensive krayt enhanced FWG5's (stats 51-275, 1.3 speed) both for un-wanted speed enhances (23%, 28%).
Thanks for nothing. I am done slicing weaponsfor anyone but myself.I guess I will still slice armor because it's prettyprofitable. Butit's just not right, when half the server can't use weapons with more speed.

Not to imply "Oh I can top that"...
But I agree. I've proven time and again that quality / conductivity has absolutely ZER0 affect on slicing... I used 998 conductivity metal - producing 98% experimented tools (kits were 90%+ also). I recived a 13%, 18%, 20%, and 21% - almost consecutively (with a random 30% to break that up.)
Then on top of that received a 33% encumberance slice on a composite helm - and the guy asked for 40k for the helm!! Fun huh?
I stopped slicing for anyone other than guild members, unless I get caught by someone that knows I can slice. I do not like slicing, and do not treat it as a profit making skill.
Slicing in the current state that it is in is just messed up.
I make my own WUK'S and AUK's...I made my own crafting stations for experimentation. I use 98% clamps, knives..because thats the copper I had. My slices for Master Smuggler on Advanced weapons run from 18% to 35%.
I can make clamps at 6% using the worst stuff I can find...Iron..Steel..Aluminum and slice CDEF weapons made from same junk and still do on occasion >30% slices.
I have kept a log of every slice I have done starting with the first person I sliced for. I can see that my slicing % has increased over the last few months, but it is from gaining xp, and not from resources. I have used this same 988 conductivity copper since I first started mining. Which was before the first person I sliced for.
Now I see crates of clamps on the bazaar for 3K and want to cry. They can be made from anything...and Quality should make a difference..

What a slicing day from hell. I was really close to calling it quits today... a good friend recently went BH and wanted me to speed slice a LLC for her.
She was looking for a good speed slice so she bought 2 and I sliced them both for mediocre damage. It was frustrating but she's calm and determined so she goes and gets 2 more, and guess what... 2 more mediocre damage slices. I then went and met her at the vendor and she bought 2 more, and once again 2 mediocre damage slices. At this point I'm getting frustrated and feeling terrible so I buy 2 more LLCs off the vendor myself and what a surprise 2 mediocre damage slices. After a few more attempts we were standing in front of a vendor with no more LLCs on it and we had 10 - thats right 10!!! - mediocre damaged sliced LLCs in a row.
If that isn't bad enough... later in the day I get a tell from another smuggler who is at slicing 4 but just recently bought 4 krayt pistols and wanted me to slice them since I got a chance at a +30% slice. Of course I was hesitant since this hadn't been my day and told him that +30% slices do happen but not all the time and I couldnt guarentee any better of a slice than him. He's a smuggler and knows the story but wants the chance at a better slice so I go ahead. Naturally he wants damage slices since the pistols are already in the 1.3 spd range. Oh what a surprise the slicing nightmare continues - 4 consecutive speed slices. At least one of them was over 30% but I really do hate slicing now. So naturally I said my now well rehearsed apologies and chatted about the prospect of the glorious day when a master smuggler can actually control some aspect of slicing...

Inthis thread, we have someone claiming an 8% slice as a master on a vibroknuckler. If in over 1,388 slices in that post and over 10,000 slices in personal experience don't convince someone that numbers outside the 15-35%range are incorrect then there is nothing to be done. I will never understand why people try to present false data or so grossly exaggerate the situation.

I wish I had taken a screen shot, but it's not a particularly proud moment. I did get an 11% slice on a laser carbine ( i do not remember if it was dmg or speed, I was staring at the 11% part). This was June 6, 2004. I was so mad I posted a rant here about it. 11%!!!!! I felt sick, and didn't know they went that low because I was under the impression 15% was the min. I was a Master (made Master in right before Christmas of 03, posted here my achievment 31 Jan 04) when I did this. I gave up my master title shortly there after to try the pure pistols template when I again got 11% on a DLT-20A. I returned after a particularly nasty trip to the Covette, because I realized how much I missed being a Master.
Whether they were bugs or flukes, or I am the unluckiest guy...it happened. I can't begin to count how many weapons I've sliced,..but it's only happend twice to me. Once in coronet, once in Mos Eisley.I wouldn't dare make that up,...11% happened and thank God it hasn't happened since.

Well that part I put in bold wasn't a fluke. If you surrender master, expect to get 11% slices on weapons.
The problem I'm having is that conveniently no one has been able to provide proof of the claim of these supposedly possible slices. These people are also extremely rare as mostmasters I know confirm a 15-35% range. This is data we've been collecting since launch.
Till that evidence is provided,I'm not inclined to believe this as we have all the evidence and experience that points to 15-35% on weapons at master. Nothing else.
If it happens again, by all means please take a screenshot with the %age and your master skillbox filled and share it. I'll then do my best to push this at the developers and see what is going on. Not till then, as I'm not going to send them on a wild goose chase.
