Thread: Do they just throw bones?

Is it just me or does it seem that every time we Smugglers almost reach open rebellion, we get thrown a bone/have a red name post.
Over the last 18 months I have watched as the Smuggling community grew angry over one change or another or at the total lack of communication, etc.
Just before it reached "Real Bad", a red name would post in the forums and give us a small morale boost.
3 or 4 days of this then.............nothing for 3 to 4 months.
Last time our forum's morale got this low, along came Greenmarine to talk to us and make us all feel loved and warm inside.
This time another red name, Goliath, just happens to pop in and posts a few lines in a few threads.
Pardon my cynical nature, butit hasbeen developing quite nicely ever since I decided to become a Smuggler.

There seems to be some sort of Smuggler uprising in the 'box. Check the 11/30 thread, especially around Pg 3. All hush-hush, of course.

yeah, looks like we're getting shafted again, only this time, no one can tell us about it. Oh wait - not like they do that anyway...

wow we're getting nerfed with something before it even goes to beta? oh wait, that happened with the original game... nothing new here

seriously, to be totally true, I even doubt on the actualy existence of "goliath"... like if they /spawndevname out of nowhere, if it's a real guy, then good, but why was he introduced if he's not the guy who'll work on our revamp ?
I kinda feel insulted here, it was like "hey guys shut up, here's a dev who's also playing a smuggler but he won't be working on your revamp, we just wanted to introduce blah blah blah...kthxbye cya in 6 months"...
k, then for god sake, WHAT IS THE POINT of that ?

Your of course absolutly right in your observation. I suspect that the sandbox is in full swing at the moment thats why were generally seeing fewer dev posts than ever before. Could also be the simple fact that both WoW and EQ2 have launched and they are simply riding it out to see the fallout.
I dont think either game will impact SWG in the long term though, both are intrinsically built for a different customer base.

Not that I'm angry with goliath or anything, not at all. I don't blame him for anything, he's an artist, not a systems guy. But it does seem as though the systems guys are using him as a sort of subtle attempt at pacification.

Drop this conspericy theory crap about Goliath beinga 'Dev creation'. I'm gonna be blunt. I'm ashamed at the way a good protion of this community has welcomed him. I for one, will treat him no diffrent than I would Wes, Geevo, LM, or any of you. So drop the 'grassy knoll' BS and cowboy up on this. I know we have gotten shafted in the past but I'm shocked that you would be rude to someone who pays his 15$ a month just like you and I. For grifes sake, he's an ARTIST or had you guys missed that. He is NOT A PROGRAMMER, he creates ART for the game.
