Thread: Time for a smuggler rant against jedi... of a sort.

Now, being relativly new to the whole smuggler scene, I would like to find out if this has happened to others. Today I recieved an offer to sell some factions points. Not a lot and not difficult. Well, seeing how you have to be spec for to sell the things, I followed the procedure and did so. After selling the points and on my way back to see the recuiter of choice, as I was less than a second away from traveling I was incapacited by a jedi. No lightsaber hiss warning no, I am going to kill you just a good old fashoined back stab. While laying there waiting to get up, I noticed that this was no noob jedi and he was a rebel. As I go to get up he runs off, I think to myself, wellI will just get on my ship and leave. Nope, again as I activate my radial dial... ZAP... down again. Again he runs off. Thinking he is gone again, I arise only to be cut down from behind by a rebel jedi. So natuarally I questioned his integrety and his response was so what. At which point I reminded him the he gets half points for killing a smuggler and his comment was something along the lines of "I am a jedi, so live with it"

Besides being a coward, this inDUHvidual, has poor sportsmanship. I am wondering if this has happened to other smugglers who are going along minding there own business? After carefull ( I am lying) consideration I have decided that the jedi in this gameare mostly ( I am sure not all, waiting to see if this is true) power meglomaniac. I do wish the devs would let us have PVP smuggler missions because I feel he should donnate to the old smugglers home in a vary large way.

I could rant for hours and now even my cat has a few issues with this jedi. ( I kicked the cat... hoping to set off a horrible chain of events leading to this persons eventual bodily removal from the human race or he loses his credit cards in an all nite wookie love parlor, At this moment all that is happened is the dog next door yelped earlier so I hope I am on the right track) So if you haven't had this happened then beware and if this has happened to you, you have my deepest sympathy. I will now drown my sorrows in beer and pie, all the while thinking that the pie is made from fresh harvested jedi.

I do agree that a person should not judge a proffesion by the actions of an individual. I while my post dealt with the actions of an individual, after observing lots of individuals of the same proffesion doing simular actions of unsportsman like conduct, it is my humble position that the cat still deserved it. Now, I might be jaded by accidently spending time reading the jedi forums, I think freshly harvested jedi pie could be quite tasty if prepared correctly.

No the main difference being, and btw i am a jedi too, is that people notice jedi more.

Do you pay attention to someone running by yelling something stupid in armour with a T21 or do you notice them in robe with saber? Jedi is the only class where people have expectations of how they should act which can never be lived up to.

#1 how can you miss a jedi there everywhere

#2 if a t21 glowed made a noise from holding it i would notice it

#3 if i stood there and had effects for hmm just standing there id notice .

#4 if i could cloak walk around throwing lighting n stuf at people too as a smuggler i'd be noticed.

Exactly my point, the devs have made jedi too flashy and are an iconic class hence people take more notice than an idiot who wears the same BE clothes/armour as everyone else and is a regular profession.

Of course some Jedi players are great people, and being an alpha class all the power players and I have to be leet types are going to flock there first. It simply can't be helped.

It's sad but true. Jedi as a profession attracts a lot of asshats. People have this crazy idea that jedi are better than normal professions. This is in my opinion wrong. I hit harder, defended better, stated better, and had no annoying force pool as a m.smuggler/m.rifle/m.marksman/n.commando. None the less, people see jedi as the uberprofession and those drawn to nothing but power gravitate towards it. Powergamers just plain suck.

From the nature of our profession, which is great at nothing and often screwed over, most smugglers aren't this player type. We're often more rpers or people just out to have fun. Generally nice people who don't think about screwing over others.

But why would a type of person described in the first post want to be anything but a Jedi in this game? It really isn't about "noticing" anymore...

The dumb powergamers go for jedi. The smart power gamers go for combat medic/rifleman

I justrealized something... and yeah, it's probably been commented on before... but I don't remember seeing big auras and hearing whooshing sounds in the movies when most of the jedi powers were used. Jedi mind trick? Nope, no light show. Sensing someone's presence? No light show. Force lightening, sure... but... that was pretty much it. If a jedi was meditating in a cantina and it was just someone in a robe kneeling there with no sound effects or light show, I would be much less annoyed.

Anyway... one thing to keep in mind that's totally separate from 'Jedi-ness' is that when you sell faction and you're special forces, you walk careful. I generally only sell faction at the imp base on Dantooine... in front of the recruiter. I used to go get the fp and then delegate it in Coronet... until I got attacked (yes, by a Jedi) and killed. Thing is, it's not like we're 'minding our own business' when we're peddling faction... you're still special forces which means that every PVP-er out there is gunning for you. And yes, there are people with more 'honor' than others. I logged on one day and while the game was loading I went to get a beverage. When I came back, there was an enemy jedi standing in front of me, just looking at me. As soon as I touched the keyboard and was no longer 'afk', he attacked. There are all kinds of players out there.

Regardless... when you're special forces, expect to be hunted and attacked... and expect to be hunted and attacked by jedi, since a large percentage of PVPers are jedi.

With all the asshats out there that are jedi, it does make it embarassing to whip out the ol lightsaber in public. I know when I see one I think that there is an 8/10 chance that he/she/it will be a complete douchebag. I wear the master smuggler tag, and will for as long as Zabrackly possible. I am also trying to get my second character back up to smuggler before I have to drop the MS tag from my main. *sigh*
