SWG-Goliath is still a Dev here or even, ever was? Was looking thru the Old thread.. and found this:

SWG-Goliath wrote:

little history lesson, because some people do know me in game.

1. i have worked for SOE about 1 year as a graphic artist.

2. i have played since launch and was incapped by a mynock outside mos eisley on day 1 while working on pistol 2

3. i participated in the holo grind and did 31 professions.

3. i walked everywhere and grinded bh without ships, vehicles and with 10 min shuttle waits

4. i died 11 times defending a rebel base outside theed because CMs have really powerful DOTs and thats when i quit PVP

5. i have been a smuggler for almost 2 years

6. i have 5 characters including a jedi

7. i play 4-6 hrs per day and about 16 hrs on the weekend and it almost ended my marriage

I'm addicted to this game like any of you and i love my job.I am an artist andI have no control over the fixes. If you want to be negatvie about these upcoming changes then by all means do so. Its your call, but it will be my pleasure to say "i told ya so" when they hit live.I appreciate the positive responses here andI understand the hostile ones. BUT, as a player i would rather be positive and hopefull, then negative and disalusioned. yes its been a long time for changes to smuggler, i know i have waited too.GenerallyI wont post in this forum cause as soon as i do i get chewed out for it, so the mere fact that I came here to post my personal excitment must mean something.

GM is working on some cool stuff for us to play with and im prepared to sit back and let him do it.

*blasts his way out of mos eisly*

......from March this Year.. maybe we can poke some infos out of him?

If you work for SOE why are you not in loop? GM no longer works for SOE.

I'm not sure if Goliath still works there, however I doubt he is really in the loop as he is an artist not a programmer. Even if he has any information, he wouldn't be able to say anything due to the insane NDAs SOE has.

He was asking about Goliath, an artist for SWG who plays a Smuggler, not GreenMarine.

Well, given the reception he received after being introduced to us was down right aweful, it's not surprising we've not seen him around. It seems to be a trend, or at least first reaction with this community, slash the devs for our woes, no matter if they're part of the decision process or not .

You can argue that, "we have a right to" or that, "it's only natural" that we're pissed off at not being able to Smuggle after all this time, but given everyone afterwards was most appologetic about the reaction to him, I don't think that's the general sentiment.

As for info, even if he is privy to information, he's not going to be able to tell us any of it any more than I could if I knew anything and was restricted from telling you; don't forget it's impossible for him to do so because his job would be on the line, not just a forum ban.

Well on the other hand i can understand that devs, or red names in that case, have a bad rep here. Found the thread with In Concept files from awhile ago and Tiggs effort to bring them online. Thats the kind of communication they should do. And not post in a remote forum of the boards informations regarding the professions.

I'm not talking about reputation or the grievances we have, but the reactions we give and the manner in which we treat people. Goliath and Tiggs got a beating when the latter introduced the former and it's that kind of thing that will cause people to shy away from posting.

While it's Tiggs' job to go around the boards and collect/collate data etc. it's well out of an artist's role to come post on the forum, so they're not going to do it if things don't go too smoothly.

We're Smugglers after all, we're supposed to be smooth, fast talkers. The way we've gone about getting information/communication out of others is more akin to hutt trying to open a can with it's behind (aka not pretty) .

I agree, Wes. But if a Smuggler is cornered or someone tried to rip him off he gets mad. And to use your Analogy further.. *grin..

SOE= Jabba ( Mob Boss)

Red Names= Middle (wo)men

Yellow= Thugs (sorry Garva.. no pun intent )

In this case, Jabba is"postponing"the delivery ofthe crates of Illegal Goods that the Smugglers are paying for years now. With out those crates, we are literaly out of the business. And since Jabba is out of reach for the Smuggler he starts to go to Jabbas Middlesmen to get his wares. And if the Smuggler starts to slap around someMiddlemen, theysend the Thugs for retribution.... The Smugglers fights back, or Feigns out, waits til the wounds are healed and see's the Middlemen again...

The problem there though is if you cut out the middle man, which you do if you try and slap them around, given you can't reach the head honcho without them, you're utterly screwed. If on the other hand grievances are kept amongst ourselves and people bite their tongue and talk with a civil mouth to the middleman, things might swing the other way .

Not saying they certainly would or that you'd see a result all that soon (once you've beaten someone up it's hard to make them think you won't do so again), but we've tried the heavy handed approach and it certainly isn't working in any shape or form and is liable to spill over to others who shouldn't be affected in the first place (Goliath being a prime example).

/shrug

You can argue which way is best until the cows come home, but I know which way is going to get a better dev response out of the two and I think most here do too ... it's whether you want it enough to take on a measure of self control and fight back rage, indignation and all the negative emotions that crop up and post objectively and for the most part without emotion.

In the end I doubt it'll have an effect on when things get done anyway, but it might help out how they're done.

Edit: typos.

I'm not saying everyone needs to brown-nose, just appear calm and considerate on the surface . Last thing we want is to become a board of sycophantics; no, just neutral in tone will do, objective none detrimental and thought out posts. You can still say you're annoyed and extremely frustrated about something while keeping emotion out of a post, stating it will suffice and allow you to move on to talk properly about something, where as yelling your grievances is likely to go nowhere.

If I'm faced with someone yelling in my face, the only way that's gonna resolve the situation peacefully is either waiting for the person to calm down and actually talk, or walk away (because I really don't want to have to throw down in fisticuffs with Jack Johnson and Tom O'Leary jabbing away ).

I gotta say something about this.

Wes is right, we can't flame devs/community reps when they come here and expect them to come back. However, they've brought it on themselves. When devs have come in here without patronising (which Tiggs' intro of Goliath was, and unfortunately Goliath got caught in the middle), they do get a good reception. GM was so loved by the Smugglers because he seemed to leave the BS at the door. Nobody knows what's gone on behind closed doors in Austin, but one thing's for sure, what's gone on on these forums has been attrocious, and no side is innocent in it all.

One final note, I used to stick up for Tiggs, and not just on this board. I defended her on others, while still trying to get a straight answer out of her, but this last attempt to give us the slight of hand by "trying" to mince word definitions was the last straw for me. I will not flame her, but she will recieve no support from me. Doing so, to me, is the equivalent of aiding the enemy.

I'll do my best to be respectful of any red names that post here, but only as long as they're being respectful. When we continue to be shown a lack of respect, then nobody should expect us to be respectful. I know you have your place Wes, and I don't envy you. Unfortunately, the ball, as has been for a long time, is in their court. They need to step up. We've given them ideas, patience, and money. It's time for them to step up and give us hard earned respect.

"Jedi claims of being "broken" are like saying "But my TV isn't widescreen! It's broken! My TV can't show high-def pictures in 1080i, it can only do 720i! It's broken!" Meanwhile, crafters are saying "We'd really like to have a TV that's larger than 12" and gets more than 4 channels and doesn't constantly lose vertical control", and entertainers are saying "Can we get some color instead of this B&W piece of junk?" And smugglers? We're listening to radio programs of "The Shadow" and "The Abbot and Costello Comedy Hour" and hearing FDR's Fireside Chats. We don't even HAVE a damn TV, much less a broken one or a "broken" one by Jedi standards. I'd LOVE to be as "broken" as they are." - The Legendary Solo4114

Aye, Zane.. i totaly agree. As i said somewhere else.. the mess would be way less"messy" if Tiggs had given us a head start or talked with Wes about that and Wes told us that we are going on long term implementation. *twitch*
Sure.. the Smugglers would have been grumpy, but not on Riot.. if i may call it that.
