Thread: Faction Profit?

Ive been doing some thinking as to whether selling faction is worth the time or not and I would like to have any opinions on what you see.

Product to sell: 3000 faction

Sellin at: 120 creds/faction point

costs me 10,000 credits to buy 100 faction whosale from a recuiter

additional cost of 1.18 faction t transfer 100 faction

Combining my costs of transfer and purchase i come to 101.18 credits of mine/faction. That comes to a profit of 18.82 credits @ 120 credits/faction.

At 3000 faction Im seeing a net profit of 5,640.00 credits in the whole ordeal of buying and trasnfering 3000 credits.

Please correct me if im wrong, as this hardly seems woth the time and effort.

THANKS IN ADVANCE!

I came to that decision myself the first time I sold faction I didn't already have banked. Not only is the profit small, but the margin for error is miniscule. I've decided that I'll only be selling faction I have banked unless it's someone I know well and don't mind assisting.

faction points wanted * cost for colonel to transfer = total / FP you can buy (plus CoA bonus) = total * 10000 credits to buy = TOTAL COST

Subtract that from 120 credits / FP you charge the customer = Total Profit

EXAMPLE (rebel Colonel)

3000 FP* 120cr = 360,000 selling price

3000 FP * 1.18 = 3540 / 138 = 25.652 * 10000 = 256,521 cost to you

Profit: 360,000 - 256,521 = 103,479 credits

This will be 103,479 you can make in about 20-30 mins. Thats almost 1/4 million an hour.

Where else can u make 100k in 25 mins of work/play? (not counting merchant sales) Soloing Giant Baz Nitches = about 25k every 30-35 mins (you gotta keep running back to get 2 more missions all the time ... ugh)

Yeah, you missed a zero in there.

3000 x 18.82 = 56,460 (not 5,640 as you say above).

And Hattrix's math is probably more accurate in terms of overral profitability.

K. Now all you need the customers that won't go "Woah!!" or laugh in your face when you quote them on the price per point.

Oh, and doing janta/mokk missions from a city with an improved job market (missions get up to 33k perif you're lucky), I can make about 120k. So, um, the only benefit is that you have a macro dong all your work, but you also don't get any loot such as DoT janta knives or janta bloods or hides.

Depends on what combat profession you subscribe to. I am Master Rifle, so here's what I would do (no, correct that, I actually DID this the other night): Go to Dantooine Mining outpost, join Solo group. Bike to Mesric City 2550m away.Slice terminal and get two 45K Mokk and Janta missions, usually within 700-1200m of Mesric.
Lets say you have to slice the terminal an average of 3 times to get two two 45K missions... sometimes more, sometimes less.
-- takes about 5 minutes to get two 40-45K missions.
-- takes about 1.5 minutes to get to first mission
-- takes about 2 minutes to kill 3-5 Mokks/Jantas
-- takes about 2 minutes to kill 64K HAM Lair
-- takes about 1.5 minutes to get to second mission
-- takes about 2 minutes to kill 3-5 Mokks/Jantas
-- takes about 2 minutes to kill 64K HAM Lair
-- takes about 1.5 minutes to get back to Mesric Mission terminal.
Total time: < 18 minutes, Credits = 80-90K
So in 36-40 minutes thats 160-180K.
And you can do this continually without having to go find customers.
Again.. depends on your PvE combat strength here.

That's the caveat that I tell to every new smuggler that asks me how profitable faction selling is. Faction points are a product, with a theoretically infinite supply, and limited demand.

If you're on a server where people like to put up bases all the time, then you're in a good shape. Otherwise, it can be hard to find a market for faction, especially if you are not Imperial. The reason I say this is because Imperial smugglers can sell fp's for people to buy AT-ST's for PvE (mainly for grouping to get high level missions).

People used to harp on me about how faction points were so profitable, and how smugglers would be the richest people on the server.

I scoff at that notion, though. A guildmate of mine is a master chef/armorsmith, and he says he sells 3.5 million credits of armor and 2 million credits of brandy a day (minimum), and he doesn't have to do much, aside from loading his factory and vendor every now and then. He buys all his resources(so he doesn't have to spend time setting up harvesters) and gets them really cheap, like 2 cpu (because he buys them all in bulk).

I'm not trying to put a damper on the faction point selling business. I just mentioned that example as a point of comparison.

Jantas/Mokks on Dantooine. I can make more than one million credits in two hours, and that's in a town without the improved job market specialization. I do this a couple nights a week now. Helps me pay for my weaponsmith alt and help keep the city looking nice.

For the person that asked, 138 is the ammount of faction a REBEL smuggler gets when purchasing 10k credits worth of faction. The cries of alderaan bonus applies to faction purchases as well.
