Thread: Can you use Feign Death in PvE to get more than 5 mobs aggroed?

I have read about this in other forums like Force Sensitive, but I haven't gotten FD yet myself to verify it. And like everything else in SWG, I have found almost as many posts claiming it doesn'twork as those claiming it does.

I figured the smugglers would know best .Is it true that you can FD at a mission lair, wait until 10 creatures have spawned, get up, and have all 10 aggro you? When you are grinding weaponXP, this is what you want to happen.

Thanks in advance for answers.

I think I understand here but I'm not sure. You can but it isn't as if all 10 will aggro you instantly. Unless you have hit them previously, they are subject to normal aggro rules.

You will need a monster to hit you in order to 'trigger' feign death.

I will post the less friendly version.

No Jedi do not take our skill and exploit it further.

No you can not just fd in a lair then stand up and have all 10 creatures coming at you so you can toss grenades at them to get mega combat exp. Go earn it you penial extension weilding fool.

Works like a charm (for now... )

What you do is, don't attack the first mobs already spawned, run up and start hitting the lair. This aggros all the mobs already there. Once the first mob of the second wave spawns, hit FD. Be sure the last thing you hit was the lair. Once the rest of the second wave have finished spawning, stand up. Unless some of them have moved out of range (usually only a problem if you're on hills or someone drove through your lair and drew some away while you were FD), all 10 will then aggro on you and you can damage all of them with grenades or spin attacks.

EDIT: One thing to note, 10 mobs all beating on you at once may not hurt so bad because you have armor on and buffs, but your armor will take a huge pounding from all these attacks. As a Master Fencer, I find that using CoB to keep all of them from hitting so much saves wear and tear on the armor.

Yeah, I guess my description wasn't that specific.

AND I apologize for the timing of this question... I really feel for you smugglers (and my altis aspiring to be one) for the FD PvP nerf. This question is yet ANOTHER case of a different "profession" (in my case, FS Grinder) dabbling in smuggler skills that are alltoo easy to get.

That being said, I'll try again.

Normally to get combat XP, I get in a large solo group and do creature lair missions. When you hit the lair, 5 mobs instantly come over and attack you. More mobs come out of the lair (up to 10, it seems), but at most 5 of them attack you at once. Whenever one of your attackers dies, one takes its place, so there are always 5 attacking you. The rest just hang out nearby reading the comics or something, until it's their turn to replace a fallen comrade.

But apparently you can change all this if you have FD: Hit the lair for a while and then FD. Wait for the count to reach 10 mobs and then stand up and resume pounding on the lair. Then all 10 mobs will attack you, and your area attacks will hit all 10 of them, thus doubling the rate of your XP gain.

True or false? Sorry, I admit I'm lazy for not trying it myself, but I like my current template and don't want to change it until I do some research and find out if it really works.

Read above, it's true, it works. However, this is only really useful for grenade pitching, as it make the grenades more efficient, hitting more mobs, therefore using fewer grenades. I don't think it would be of so much use to you if you're just using spin attacks because if you just hit the lair to start the second spawn, then target mobs and spin, the new ones will join in as the old ones die, and this will take less time (and give less armor decay) than waiting for the whole second wave to spawn while FD.

is it me? or is the kind of thing we dont to see happening?? Using FD to get around game mechanics is what has gotten it nerfed this far..... read some of the posts and please... dont dabble in our profession to work around game design.

Who says it's getting around game mechanics? Normally, getting 10 mobs mad at you instead of 5 would be a bad thing. I'd say it's a result of the code they put in that makes the things run half way across the planet when we stand up from FD, so maybe it's intended. With the wonderful communication we get from the Devs, we'll never know.

I see no problem confirming that this works. I'm a Master Smuggler and felt the nerf bat as bad as everyone else, but that seems to happen even if no one says anything (spice nerf, crate nerf, etc).

Wow, the 1-star bandit strikes the Smuggler forum. Wouldn't have thought it. We've been kicked while we were down, but let's not fall to that level, ok?

I was simply answering a question and confirming that something works. It's been posted many a time, so it's not like it's not common knowledge, otherwise confirmation wouldn't have been requested. Sheesh.

Thanks for all the detailed responses, DrWolfe and company!

And now I also know the answer to "how can you get 10 1-star bandits to aggro you simultaneously?"

Just for a little perspective on usJedi wannabes, there are a few sorta normal people in the bunch. I'm a casual player who eventuallywants tobe able to go use a lightsaber on hunts with friends. This means that I need to max out a Jedi template first, because I'll get killed by BH's all the time hunting in a group like that. So how can I max out a Jedi template "quickly" (in terms of months, rather than years)? Well,I need to go hunt off in the boonies all by myself to avoid visibility. So it has to be extremely, extremely, extremelyboring. Whatever will knock off some of the time requirement would be awesome. Well, that's just my version of "Waaaah! Jedi takes too long! How can I get there faster?" It's a worn-out cliche, but it's still true.

yeah, well.... your timing was off just a little.

This was probably not the best time to step onto the Smuggler Forum and ask how to use our nerfed skill to advance glowie-stick faster. No, I didn't 1-star you, but I support those who did. Jedi takes a long time? too bad. Don't try for it then. Do something else. Don't mis-use our skills because you want to be all cool and glowie. Go tank with a hammer.

Smuggler skills get nerfed and mis-used?Don't be a smuggler then.

Sorry, couldn't resist . I think I'll take my leave now before my collection of 1-stars gets out of control. Thanks to those of you who provided sincere answers.
