Thread: The great conundrum...

Ok...so I've got my DE-10 Schem...and I've got my DE-10 Barrel (With YELLOW text even)...
Now, I'm just waiting for my WS buddy to come up with some Krayt tissues worthy of such a weapon...
But...I'm left with the great internal debate...
After the pistol is completed...do I slice it? or leave it be and just use power-ups to enhance it? To say that my weapon slices lately have been "crappy" would be something of an understatement. I don't remember the last time I saw a number above 25%...on anything...speed or damage...
What would you do?
Insight? Advice? Flames? All are welcome....

As for me i have a rule :
If a gun is worth being used, it's worth being sliced.
You just can only make it better, you're not certain to get the dreamt 35% damage for sure, but even it's only 19, it's still 19% better. and you know combat revamp is approaching, maybe speed will at last mean something.
Moreover, since you've got so much bad slices recently you know that chances are that you will equalize at some point because the average is 25%. The more you fail, the more you get closerto the moment you'll succeed.
Sure you'll be disappointed if you get that crappy 19% or so, but that's still 19% better, and we you speak about a weapon this size, 19% isbig difference, made a little bit bigger when you had your power up over that (33% of 119 is still better that 33% of 100).
That's my credo in slicing fabulous guns, it's fabulous, it will be even more.

I'd slice it.. I mean,who knows? Maybe the slicing gods are just saving up your really good slicing luck for that DE-10?
Just remember to do what I do for all my 'special' customers (and by that I mean ones who ask for a good slice after I tell them it's totally random):
/emote waves his hands over the weapon and begins praying to the almighty gods of slicing.
It's gotten 30+ slices so consistently that only my stubborn refusal to believe that anything affects slicing keeps me from using it on all my slices.

I'd slice it. I think a great injustice would be not to as Smuggler. It wouldn't have that "Smuggler feel" to it and as everyone has says, it only makes it better, and with the addition of powerups aftrer slicing it will be even better.
Good luck and congrats on the great weapon. I am still "staring in the store window" and saving my credits for one, but soon enough!

Ya I would slice it if you plan on actually using it. If its just for display then dont slice it if you are worried. I slice every weapon I can get my dirty hands on though. Nothing like getting 35% damage slices on looted wooden staffs.. one is actually a nice grinding staff now when trying to get the first box in polearms.

Get a smuggler friend to slice it and then blame him if its not good...

I was about to say, get another Master Smuggler to slice it, that way you can't beat yourself over the head for a low slice. But whatever you do, DON'T blame the other Smuggler. You know better.

A Smuggler having problems deciding to slice a weapon.. That's a little depressing.
People need to get out of this "31+ slice or its looses all its value" crap.

I know it won't be "ruined" if I slice it, no matter what slice I get on it. But, considering the time and credits I'm putting into this, I want it to be the best possible.
Hell...given the inherent slow speed on a DE-10, and the fact that I'm not capped on Pistol speed, I would even take a nice speed slice.
But, honestly, right now I'm leaning toward sticking it in the bank until after the Combat Balance and waiting for the Smuggler revamp to see what kind of slicing enhancements we get.
*shrug*...it could take that long for my WS to find tissues...
Oh...and if I did get another Master Smuggler to slice it...I wouldn't blame them for a bad slice. I, of all people, know the score on that one...

Just the other night I got 2 damage slices on 2 de-10's one for 33% and one for 32%. Made me very happy on one cause it was mine and made my guild mate one and he was happy with a slice. I say if your going to use it slice it. It all depends on what kind of tissues you use the one that I have for my self was at 2.9 speed unsliced so of course I didnt' want a speed one but if you get a gun that is at 4+ speed you might want a speed slice who knows.

And that's the reason I don't publically slice anymore, though.. its almost like becoming your worse enemy. I had someone just like this yesterday, who wanted me to buy certain MolClamps/Knives/WUKs to slice his Krayt Ion Rifle - and I litterally told him off after we got into a fight over the whole 'slicing is random, nothing effects it' debate.
Slicing will only make it much better than the piece of unsliced crap you want to construct now. The Yellow Barrel and krayt tissue will be what makes it perfect. You can't cower over what might happen, or you'll never do anything.
And yes, I'm taking this a wee personally just because I can't believe I'm hearing this from a M.Smuggler. Some idiot PvP player, sure, but not someone whose probably been in the business longer than I have.

Another thought on the whole slice thing that us smugglers need to fire back at people who get pissed off at the slice.
They paid that much for the weapon unsliced we can't make it worse.
If you do get a speed slice does the damage decrease any? No so you still have the same gun as preslice.
