Thread: What are good speeds and P Y R stats for an engine?

The subject pretty much sums it up.

I also understand that the engine speed effectually changes when dropped into a chasis. What is the fastest Imperial chasis at the Empire's disposal?

Well obviously, the faster the engine, the better. LOL. At lower levels, engines with speeds in the low-high 60's would be just fine. by the 2-3 tier you def need one in the 70-80's I'd say, and by tier 4 you should have had your reward engine RE'd to a low mass blow out that can't be matched by anything a SW can make. Pitch/Yaw/Roll characteristics on engines in the 60's are what you should be shooting for.

So once you get to Master Pilot, the best engines that are available are loot drops?

That sucks.

From day 1, the best parts are loot drops. That's part of the problem right now. I stopped making anything but weapons for my business, and instead started buying loot like crazy and RE'ing it. Shipwrights can, given enough loot to choose from, make some fantastically awesome components. Much better than is generally possible by hand crafting.

I thought pitch, roll and yaw were actually determined by the chassis and that these stats showing up on components was going to be removed?

Wrong stats. Examine and engine and you'll see what I mean.

Ok, another question then. According to the FAQ, a Tie Interceptor Chasis has these stats:

Spdx 1.0 Acc 40 Dec 60 Pitch 300 Yaw 300 Roll 150

How do the Pitch, Yaw and Roll stats on the chasis affect the stats on the engine? Are those chasis specs the upper bound of what an engine can have?

You want high # for PYR.

p.s Engines are changed next patch, so we have to see then.

From what I understand this next patch will remove the Y/P/R stats from items like engines and make the Y/P/R all about the chassis. Thus chassis stats will impact this only. Willwe be able to experiment on these or will theybe set? Idon't know. Chassis stats probably make sense from a game perspective as your 92.2 speed, uber Y/P/R engine should not preform as well in a 190K mass TIE Bomber as it does in a 40K mass TIE Interceptor. Although as chassis design changes and better chassis become available at higher levels I hope the Y/P/R stats improve regardless of ship mass. In other words, an Oppressor at Master Level with 150K mass should have some very nice handling characteristics in order to justify it being a Master Level ship.

From a RL perspective would the size of a ship in space really matter in terms of determining how well a ship handles? I mean, with no gravity, and no air resistance, etc.. in space a bomber should move as well with the same thrust as a regular TIE, correct? I know for the game that can't happen, but in RL? The mass of a space/rocket ship is only an issue in getting it off the ground and into orbit where it can be released from gravity. Correct? Any RL rocket scientists out there playing SWG? lol

This is correct, 11.2 will remove the PYR stats from all engines as it is stated in the patch notes that these are characteristics determined by the ship.

Yup, heck, I've made several cert level 2 capacitors that I use in my A-wing, no need for anything bigger really. I think it's

Armor: 250
Hitpoints: 230
Energy Drain: 840
Mass: 1600
Capacitance: 1140
Recharge: 36.4

Sure it's not extremely big, or fast recharging, but for an A-Wing with a single weapon it's more than enough. now if only I could find enough parts to RE my shield gen down from 13k mass. I love the 10.6 recharge, just hate the mass. It will happen in time I think.

Hmm, anyone got a good way to keep track of all these RE parts yet?

do you want a high # or a low # for your P/Y/R?
