Shipwright Archive
Thread: Dear Shipwrights, please stop blindly REing components in pursuit of an outdated and outmoded ship.
"The more you re the closer you get to a disk. So my advice would be to re everything and if it is still junk then sell it to the dealer."
In my infamous REing thread, linked below in my sig, I post REing atrocities perpetrated by shipwrights of my OWN server who fail to exercise due diligence in pursuit of KSE discs. This has stopped some, but more and more crappy parts are listed almost daily.
Now, some of you may say: "How dare you call the Firespray outdated and outmoded! It's our only real content!"
And to that I respond - "open your eyes."
The KSE is 213k MAX mass, 2P/2M. Back BEFORE the M22-T, this was highly respectable, and also a decent ship for Freelancers.
NOW, and this is MY opinion, the only faction that even has ANY business buying the Firespray whatsoever for functional (not even mentioning decorative) purposes is an Imperial factional pilot, as the Oppressor only tops out around 172-173k masswise - the extra 40k on the KSE would allow for someone to slap heavier L10s on if they weren't as proficient in looting them.
Simply put:
QUIT BLINDLY WASTING RE PARTS IN PURSUIT OF A SHIP THAT NO LONGER FITS INTO THE REALISTIC STRATEGIC MAKEUP OF JTL. THE KSE HAD IT'S DAY, AND IT ENDED WHEN THE M22-T WAS INTRODUCED.
Some of you are taking the only real "Exceptional" loots left and tossing them away for a 1:1000 chance at getting a fragment to a schematic to a ship that most people aren't even interested in anymore.
I also own a Krayt for my freelancer. I use it for mining. In all honesty i enjoy flying my dunelizard much more than the Krayt. Actually at the moment i'm flying either my Arc170 or Vaksai with my Freelancer.
When I get the firespray I'll fly that as well. One advantage it has over the other freelance ships is the abilty to hold 2 ordnance slots.

When it comes to space loot, I DO know everything.
And the funny thing is, is that not only do you know everything about the loot, your not even a SW. I have read your post, and yes it was all in one sitting. It was very informative, and right to the point, and even a little easy to understand, even for a dork like me.

L1 and L2 loot is the only stuff worth farming for a KSE disk anyway. I hate it when I find post RE stuff on the bazar; most of it is a crap job.
Thank you for actually getting the point of this post. People are obviously taking this as a direct flame, missing the word "BLINDLY."
This isn't an indictment against REing for discs, it's an indictment of wasting stuff without even LOOKING at it first just because you HAVE it.
Think of it this way - 500k+ for a stellar loot part'll buy a LOT of L1/RE1 crap on the bazaar, and FAR more chances toward a disc than doing something like:
This, or this, or definitely this...
This too...
Getting the point yet?
Just in case...

Kayl, try to understand that your priorities are not necessarily everybody elses priorities. I'm with you on the blindly throwing away good RE parts, but only because I look for good stuff to RE myself. However, if getting another firespray suddenly became more important to me than looking for good RE parts, then I'll throw away whatever I want whenever I want. Blindly or otherwise. It sucks that people throw away good stuff to the chassis dealer, but that's their choice.
you failed to include what I was responding to. The guy wanted to know if he should bother reing low lvl stuff or just dump it on the chassis dealer. My suggestion why not re it and then sell it to the dealer, that way he at least gets a chance at a disk.
I have made alot of money both with good re parts and firesprays and do not waste parts blindly. But the poster was asking about junk parts that he was just getting rid of at the dealer not the bazaar.

Can we get player bounties on shipwrights like that?

Either that, or do whatever you want to do.
Gotta love it when someone masters a profession, thinks they know everything, and then starts telling people how to play the game.

Observe, it is your opinion that the Firespray is not worth us blindly RE'ing space loot.
First, if there is one thing I have learned after being a shipwright for nearly a year. To each his/her own. Players have their own preferences concerning ships. I have encountered players that actually like the Firespray, and others that don't.
Second, the Firespray still has the status of being rare. There just aren't that many of them out there, and some "collectors" are willing to pay for this reason.
Third, the Firespray completes the whole elite Bounty Hunter ensemble, including the jetpack and Mandolorian armor. Some wealthier Bounty Hunters will pay almost anything to "complete the picture".
Finally, the only reason I RE space loot is to find the Firespray disks. My business is based on crafting ship components, and hence I don't really have that much issue with "blindly" RE'ing this stuff.
