Thread: Is anyone actually selling any Ship Chassis Anymore?

I only ask because I am not.

I think that is a big part of the problem with everyone complaining about how pricing is such a big issue. Every Shipwright simply isn't selling anymore and now every shipwright is looking for a scapegoat. So, they go after those with prices lower then some arbitrary number they decide they have to sell for and make wild claims that those people are ruining sales for them.

The real problem is the decay of starship chassis. If the decay rate was higher and there was something in place to actually affect the performance of a starship as it's hit points drop, I am positive that the sales of chassis would increase considerably. The performance drop could be based upon a static number, not a percentage of the full hitpoints of the chassis, this would also alter the experimentation being performed to chassis as hitpoints would suddenly carry more weight.

Then, those of us that can afford to sell chassis at the 2.5 Credits Per Unit Price and those that can't sell them for less then 10 Credits Per Unit will start selling starship chassis once again. With the lower price sellers selling out more swiftly and most likely taking longer to restock, because those that charge that little typically mine all the resources themselves.

I believe the best thing for us shipwrights to overcome this issue of being unable to sell starships is to come together, not to set some arbitrary price controls, but to put our heads together and come up with an easy to implement system that the Devs might be able to use to assist us in selling more chassis.

My idea is rather simple, have a static hitpoint to performance modifier for each chassis or level of chassis and subsequent performance decreases based upon the chassis hitpoints. This would force players to get rid of 'used' up chassis, instead of selling them on the open market and repalce them with newer 'fresher' starships.

With such a rapid increase in starship chassis purchases, there would have to be something done to help bring down the prices, at least slightly. Perhaps fewer resources would need to be used for starship chassis, thus decreasing the cost to build and not to forget the XP gained for crafting chassis. That way, pilots won't feel so raked over the coals as they would have to replace their ships more often. Honestly, I see the prices of 100k for a baseline Y-Wing as being a coal raking price, it's not something a poor schmore like myself could afford.

Anyway, please offer up your own constructive ideas about how this issue can be resolved. I only ask for helpful suggestions, turning this into a discussion about price points under the current system isn't going to help anyone sell anymore chassis, especially since I have only sold one single Y-Wing, priced at 37,500 credits and my vendor is filled with those, while others in the same mall have Y-Wings priced at 100k and also aren't selling anything...

I have a very large and thriving business, and sell a minimum of 20 hulls a day. Most often I sell between 30-50 a day, but some days are busier than others. My least busy day since the 26th I sold 20. Sell tons of parts, do tons of REing as well. Just takes so damn long to actually make anything of yourself in this trade.

I'm doing ok, I have 20-30 chassis on my vendor at any time, most levels that I can build. So far it is just word of mouth and the map vendor list that brings them in, I have done no advertising. I knid of like having my small shop with a few loyal customers, they like my prices and send me compliments often, to me that is better than being the riches toon in the galaxy! As long as they keep refering friends in life will be good and I won't worry about advertising. If not it will be on with the full scale campaign.

Currently I am at 2,2,2,2.

The only hull I can't sell is the first Black Sun Ship, the Kihraxz. I've sold maybe one. lol

I pull in about 800k a day when I am not out of resources. lol

I stick all RE parts on the vendor, after REing them. Sell pretty good. Haven't put too many components on there, because I am still grinding out. Just making a lot of ships that sell pretty well. Once I get 3,2,2,2 I know that Squints will be hard for me to keep in stock (Interceptors)

I sure am. I only play for about an hour and a half a day, so I don't want to stand outside of starports shouting "selling chassis blah blah blah".So all I can do is hope people read the trade forums and see I have a vendor well stocked with novice-tier 2 chassis. I don't have the creds to go buying resources, so I only progress through shipwright when my harvestors give me enough resources.

So if anyone sees this from Bloodfin, head over to Lok, I've got the chassis in stock.

I sold about 3 million credits of chassis yesterday plus about 1 million of consumables. No problems here.

How about some tips folks.

What cpu to you charge for these chasis you're selling so quickly?

What is the price range of your RE loot.

Like many of you, I'm doing this by trial and error, so any input would be appreciated.

Prices vary from server to server, but I can tell you mine on Naritus.

  • Chassis I sell for 5.5 cpu (same range as the other vendors in the mall I'm in)

  • Consumables 20 cpu (chaff packs, missile packs, paint/texture kits)

  • Components I sell almost entirely as custom orders, 20 cpu also

  • Don't RE parts for sale, only for Firespray disk parts.

The biggest positive for me was getting a vendor into a very high volume mall (South Coronet Mall, as folks on Naritus can tell you it's one of the places to shop). My sales really picked up after that.

5 cpu for all ships, and I've gotten a few emails about my good prices

I currently buy RE loot for 1000 credits per level, and sell them for cost plus 25%, but I'm going to be changing this to 1500 for level 1 and 2 and 5000 for all else, then sell them for cost plus 25%

While i'm not making millions a day, I do have pretty consistent sales of a ship or two per day, and now that I added RE, I'm selling all of that I can get my hands on. With that in mind, my previous pricing was good up to level III, but then the cost got too prohibitive, something like 130K for level X stuff, under my new system that will be 62.5 much more in line with crafted stuff.

I sell my hulls for 5cpu, except for the novice level ships, which I sell for 20k each. Parts I struggled with initially, but came up with an encompassing pricing model that matches my looted parts/crafted parts equal in terms of final price. I buy my looted parts for 1k (lvl 1-2 parts), and 7k for the lvl 3 and above parts. So I sell all cert levl 1 parts (crafted and looted) for 12k. Cert level 2 (crafted and looted)parts for 14k, cert level 3 parts for 45k, etc. Yes there is a big jump between lvl 2 and 3, but it works out very good. If you're going to consider a combined pricing model like I run, you have to factor in the cost of purchasing hundreds of looted parts which might sit a long while, along withthe actual cost of resources you purchased for crafted parts. My parts sell very well, so my customers seem to be happy with it.

Prices on ships and componets really depends on your server as well, the 2 servers I play on have to be the most inflated economy wise, so 10 cpu for chassis and 20 cpu for componets people dont bat and eye at it.Heck was even told by a few people I am still lower then most , I use HQ resources for all my equipment , so dont want to waste it going under what I can buy that stuff for.

My suggestion go around look at what other shipwrights have in stock compare stats , price mass, etc.......
