I keep putting off my intro post, it'll come soon enough


But the first order of business we can't afford to put off is to get a comprehensive list of bugs/issues going. Betatoxin has done a good job with this already and I'll be borrowing what i can from that post, but he hasn't been around to update it since the 29th.


So, lets start up a new one. Basically make it short and try to limit discussion or arguments... A few issues will be controversial, so even though i have them, let me know if you agree or disagree. Please let me know anything I might be forgetting, and whether it is confirmed or not.


Also, might be a pain in the ass, but if you can, please RATEthe bugs and issues, on a scale of 1 to5, so I can get an average view on what the most important things to take care of are. This goes for ones I already have and ones you will be adding. I will update the thread as much as possible.


So this is what I've got...


BUGS


  • Crafted components having names truncated

  • Crafter Identification being removed

  • No "Ships" category for merchants

  • Armor Reinf Mk2 panels not showing up in factory (Fixed)

  • Armor Hitpoints HUD Display

  • Shipwright trainer waypoints incorrect (confirmed?)

  • Droid Interface: speed rating (delay)goes up with tiers

  • Engine stats being (at least visually) changed upon unloading

  • RE: Tool with 1 charge left


    • can destroy items

    • can just expel items

    • can make an item but not let you name it

  • Cert levels not displayed on countermeasures

  • Bugs with deed generation (random, working on reproduction steps) and redeeding

  • Texture kits broken on Black Sun ships

ISSUES



  • Crafted components inferior to looted components (y/n? I found them to be very inferior in beta).

  • Increased Factory Support (please don't go in to why, just agree or disagree with this one)

  • Player City Shipwright Trainers

  • Shipwright XP not convertable to Force XP (again, please just agree/disagree)

  • Decay (pick more, less, or the same)

  • More data from schematics (ship characteristics)

  • Mark V mass too high (agree/disagree?)

  • Subcomponents not scaling properly with new mass values (since beta)


    • e.g. Mark V mass reduction about 3.5k on a 50k mass, better to use lower level component

  • RE: Need second chance to name if first choice is reserved

  • RE: Relax naming restrictions

  • RE: Leave stats window open while naming

  • RE: Indicator of RE'd status

  • Cert/RE level upon mouse-over in inventory.

  • More vendor subcategories to sort

  • Player City Starport or Spaceship terminal

  • Components - More understandable decay indicator

  • Components - More detailed schematics

  • Chassis - Picture of chassis upon examine

  • Chassis - Resource quality not significant (agree/disagree?)

  • Experimentation not significant enough? (agree/disagree)

  • Texture Kit Preview ability






Lets get this fully comprehensive soI can get this to the devs ASAP!


later tonight i'm gonna have to split this in to major/minor sections for some ofthese little, but good suggestions... more fixes to come

An easier way to identify items that have been RE'd already... I know the level needed disappears if it has been RE'd, but an actual indicator might be better.

Some people experience problems with either not being able to turn blueprints into deeds or not being able to generate a ship from the deed. More information available in this thread:

Here is my story:


The customer successfully turned the blueprint into a deed using the ship broker. But he did not get the radial menu option "Generate Ship". The odd thing is that I had the customer trade the deed back to me and I could get the radial menu (even though I didn't qualify for the ship btw). But when we traded it back again, he still couldn't generate it. He ended up buying a new blueprint and this time it worked fine for him.

This is a really bad bug. The customer above was a friend of mine so there were no hard feelings. But I sure don't want this to happen if it is a customer that doesn't know me well. Whether fair or not, some people will blame me for selling them a bad blueprint.

I know this one is a longshot... and probably more a politican issue... but since I am both master SW and master Politician, I will float it here...


A new structure for highly leveled player cities. My city has well over 100 people, we are one of the oldest, and most frequented... for these types of cities on servers, and politicians who devote a lot of time and effort, maybe it would be great to reward them with a starport like structure...


Perhaps make a 6th level Player city status reached at 120 citizens. That paired with Master Politician gives the ability to place this structure.


For those not into politician, you may not know this, but there is no bonus or incentive for being a Master... so I think this could really be it.


Maybe limit it to just 3-5 per planet.


Let it have a small footprint 5x6 or 6x6... maybe similar design to the ones on like Lok, Endor, Dantooine, etc...


Maybe try to give it different character from an actual starport... maybe a "Jump Port"...


just an idea I guess looking back this isn't really an issue or bug

Here are some bugs/issues I didn't see in your list:



  • Pilots need to be able to see the decay of their ship.

  • Need to be able to see more information when examining a blueprint--for example, how many players the ship will hold, what "slots" the ship supports (e.g., weapons, ordance, droid/computer).

  • It would be desirable if a player could see a picture or rendering of a ship when examining blueprints. This would be especailly helpful for players perusing ships with more than one style before making a final decision regarding a purchase.

  • Experimentation doesn't have tremendous impact on the final product--when compared to other crafting, such as armor, weapons, and medicines.

  • Quality of resources going into a chassis makes very little difference.

  • Percentage bonus applied by reverse engineering process should go up with experience. A master should be able to really do something observable here; the petty 1-3% they give us is worthless.

  • This might be intentional, but Mark IV and V components are relatively heavy, and experimenting on mass does very little good. Are these leve of components intended for bigger ships? For example, there is no way a pilot will ever be able to equip an A-wing with a full set of Mark IV components--they're just too heavy.

How about if RE'd and non-RE'd components have different colored text? Also, I'd love to be able to see the RE level of a non-RE'd item on mouse-over.



No decay + uber loot = /spit on crafters

Fix the economy and give crafters their $$$ worth... give us real revamp.

Remember... to Cancel you have to go to Register Expansion in the Launchpad.

Styxx66 First of all I want to say good job so far even if there is no personal post. There is PLENTY of time for that anyhow. Here are my suggestions and notations on your post as well.

Now I know there has been tons of talk about looted parts over crafted parts and I am here to add a few more of my thoughts as well. I feel that if we have a schematic to make something that NOONE gives a crap about due to its pitifulness (engines), then something is wrong. So I think that something needs to be done on looted stuff and the stats on them be lowered. Now however I know that there are few and I mean few Shipwrights out there that including myself can usually get close to if not higher than SOME looted stuff but for most there is no way they have the stuff to do this. I am not even master yet, but I take pride in what I build and time as well. I enjoy making ships but I recall a statement awhile back by the Dev's stating that NO LOOTED STUFF WILL BE BETTER THAN ANYTHING THAT CAN BE CRAFTED. However we are the first profession that has been denied this factor. I think looted stuff should be good, if it is to improve an existing crafted part, but for pilots the XP is so EASY to get anyhow, that noone really will buy much after they get there master ship, and why b/c they can get better looted stuff or just as good for FREE so why PAY anyone for this. Plus you may say well there stuff will decay, ok my reply to that is thats true, but by the time that happens they probably found a ton more to replace it. I myself have yet to get to be in space trying to learn all the tricks being a shipwright however my friends that are in space loot stuff left and right and show it to me and sometimes give to me as well. They are also the ones that tell me how easy XP is if you know what you are doing and have the righ stuff.


So If I had to take a few from the list above and label them 1-5 I personally would list like this:



  1. Crafted vs Loot

  2. Crafter Identification being removed

  3. No Category On the Overhead Map for ships

  4. Subcomponents not scaling properly with new mass values

  5. More data from schematics (ship characteristics)

I hope to contribute more data later on and help this profession any way I possibly can in the future. Again thanks for the great job so early on styxx you are the pioneer for our profession!

1) Problems redeeding ships from data pads

2) Examining blueprints or deeds should show you a picture of a ship

3) No idea how the texture kits look until you use one

4) Yes, we need FS xp conversion

5) Ambivalent on the player city starports (and I'm a mayor). On one hand would be nice, but on the other hand I suspect they are trying to get folks together in NPC cities. Plus I think technical issues will totally prevent it.

6) F A C T O R I E S.
