I see your points.

It's funny, if I had known the respec was coming, I could have waited for it myself. But I'm glad I didn't. Not only did I beat it by like a month, in mastering SW... but also, grinding your way up has its own rewards. I had a stocked vendor by the time I was done, had time to learn about how it works and what I wanted to focus on, and it game me intermediate goals to work towards. Sure you save yourself from having to use 6mil resources and weeks or months of time (I mastered in about 6 weeks of harvesting and buying resources), but I think it would be a lot less satisfying in the end.

So no regrets here.

Personally, I'm not angry or annoyed at respec'd professions. Actually, I don't blame you if you did. I just think you may have missed out on some of the fun and learning curve. Heh

I am sorry if I have offended you. Just so you know, I did work my way up to master shipwright the same way you did. I enjoyed it a lot, but I gave it up to become a jedi. I was gathering resources again to make my alt shipwrightbut since they decided to respec it, I took advantage of it. I haven't asked how to do things, I am just having trouble because it isn't working at all. I couldn't grind shipwright if I can't make chassis as they give the best xp for getting your skill up.

I have nothing against the fact that you're suddenly a Master Shipwright (well, actually I do have a lot against the fact, as I had to bust my arse harvesting resources for nearly 2 months to save up the resources to grind out Master Shipwright). However, you need to learn your profession. Read the stickies in this forum. You also need to learn how to become a merchant. Whether you have Merchant skills or not, please go read the stickies in the Merchant forum.

In addition, do NOT expect to become rich overnight. Do NOT expect to become a great shipwright overnight. Obtain the resources to start making chassis and items and start crafting. Through real experience, you will learn how to craft good ship stuff. Noone in this forum can speak a magic words that will suddenly make you a real master shipwright.

Finally, don't flood this forum with questions that can be answered by reading the stickies. Don't be lazy. If you're prone to laziness, you should respec your character again, because you'll never make it as a shipwright.

Ah Ha!!

I am a respec shipwright.

Have done and ground many professions. Have aced pilot twice and was a master SW in JTLS beta, but did not want to spend the millions or grind out a master crafting profession, no interest.

So yes, I dropped TK to do something new, been around since launch and thought this was a good time to throw in my hat.

Hunted resrouces for 2 days, and crafted my first enhanced engines last night.

Logged onto the server today, all engines sold but one and got a tell asking when the next ones would be there.

Hehe, far better response that I had anticipated, so I put up three factories today and am cooking off subcomponents so that I can do a nice run of engines tonight, and maybe start working on the new capacitors to see how they turn out.

Now, I feel for those that ground this thing out, but many of the SW on my server ground it out on the first afternoon of the game, so it appears it is not a long grind if rich enough to buy what you need anyhow.

But, thanks. I'm not lazy and I do read stickies and figure things out on my own well enough. Plus I have 2 ingame friends that are shiprwrights that I go to for anything I may miss.

Its a fun craft and my hats off to those that have done this for any length of time, and especially to those that were poor and needed to do the harvesting and the grinding at the same time... that is darned impressive!!!! I'm not rich, but have enough to buy what I needed to get started.

Thank you all for your dedication and the wonderfull information here.

Hum.. I mastered SW in the first four days of JTL release. Dropped Remastered during double xp week, decided to take that toon combat. And took the combat toon to SW so do I qualify in you elitist rant? Wow someone got a little helping hand and you dump all over them instead of welcoming them into the fold. Bet you're a pre-cu JK too......

I just don't like the inexperienced "Master" Shipwrights flooding the market with poor quality componenets. I've check the vendor listings and the bad stuff is starting to crop up like weeds.

If you know what your doing it's fine and dandy because you went through the learning process. If you don't, it reflects poorly on you and the rest of the general shipwright community.

So?

I don't view this as that bad... if they make crap, ppl will stop buying from them and they will either learn or leave... the real danger is the devaluing of quality parts due to an over supply and everyone undercutting one another to stay afloat... if we can help each other (at an extreme it may mean in some cases partnering up with other SWs and specializing to compliment each other... at least for a while) as opposed to heading straight into price wars I think things will turn out ok.

Could be wrong, but I think this approach to work with the newer SWs (repec or otherwise) will be far more effective than flaming or lecturing them...

Oh boy... I'm glad I deleted what I wanted to say, so I'll try this again

Sweetie, just because people like me chose to respec amd try something that looks like fun, does NOT give you the right to be an arse. Hun, many people, myself included, think shipwright looks fun. I went from a master Doc, Master merchant to a master Shipwright because I'm a girl that likes to craft. You owe me, and many others an apology.

Second: Since this is the first post that I have read in this forum, I'd like to know where your outrage at people who asked stickied questions BEFORE the respec was. Could you post a link or two so you don't look like a hypocrit?

Third: Your quote: "Noone in this forum can speak a magic words that will suddenly make you a real master shipwright" is misleading. Did you grind chasis to get to be a shipwright? If so, you're just the same as a respec person, save for the fact that you spent money. You pressed your magic button, your words, each time you used that grind macro.

LOL Guys, I really didn't want to have my first post here be a rant!!! So, here is a question, whats that whole reverse engineering thing, can it make stuff better? j/k

You, "sweetie" need to get off your high horse and actually read his initial post. Yes he does state that simply respec'ing to Master SW does cheapen the exprience of being a SW. His MAIN POINT though was for the less intelligent people such as yourself, to not ask petty and moronic questions. Somewhere in these forums I even managed to come across a post asking, "where do you find steel?" I feel that respec'ing to a pure crafter from a pure combat class without previously mastering some crafting class is just a headache to all... To those raking their minds trying to for the first time understand how crafting works, and to those of us that have to deal with the spam of questions associated with these "crafting noobies."

Drop the elitist attitude. Anyone who respec'd to shipwright had to have mastered some other elite profession. Who's to say your efforts are better than theirs? What if some respec'd from MBH to shipwright? Does that mean they getto have an even bigger attitude than you? After all, doing the Investigation line has to be at least as hard as working through shipwright, with or without grinding.

Personally I'm glad the Devs granted non-combat professions the ability to respec. Most non-combat profs were affected by the CU as much, if not more than, the combat professions. I just wished they'd done it last week, before I surrendered my remaining AS skills on my alt. Oh well, not the end of the world.

And for your assertion that respec shipwrights are asking dumb questions, well in my experience whenever someone is new to a profession, respec or no, they usually ask 'dumb' questions that could easily be answered by reading the stickied FAQs. It's hardly a condition unique to respecing.

For the record I did grind out shipwright. I've also ground out AS (twice), WS, Smuggler, Swordsman, 4/4/4/0 Doctor as well as 4/2/0/3 FS Crafting. If the changes to AS don't work out for me, I'll probably respec back to Shipwright if there's still time.
