I have nothing against the fact that you're suddenly a Master Shipwright (well, actually I do have a lot against the fact, as I had to bust my arse harvesting resources for nearly 2 months to save up the resources to grind out Master Shipwright). However, you need to learn your profession. Read the stickies in this forum. You also need to learn how to become a merchant. Whether you have Merchant skills or not, please go read the stickies in the Merchant forum.

In addition, do NOT expect to become rich overnight. Do NOT expect to become a great shipwright overnight. Obtain the resources to start making chassis and items and start crafting. Through real experience, you will learn how to craft good ship stuff. Noone in this forum can speak a magic words that will suddenly make you a real master shipwright.

Finally, don't flood this forum with questions that can be answered by reading the stickies. Don't be lazy. If you're prone to laziness, you should respec your character again, because you'll never make it as a shipwright.

Drop the elitist attitude. Anyone who respec'd to shipwright had to have mastered some other elite profession. Who's to say your efforts are better than theirs? What if some respec'd from MBH to shipwright? Does that mean they getto have an even bigger attitude than you? After all, doing the Investigation line has to be at least as hard as working through shipwright, with or without grinding.

Personally I'm glad the Devs granted non-combat professions the ability to respec. Most non-combat profs were affected by the CU as much, if not more than, the combat professions. I just wished they'd done it last week, before I surrendered my remaining AS skills on my alt. Oh well, not the end of the world.

And for your assertion that respec shipwrights are asking dumb questions, well in my experience whenever someone is new to a profession, respec or no, they usually ask 'dumb' questions that could easily be answered by reading the stickied FAQs. It's hardly a condition unique to respecing.

For the record I did grind out shipwright. I've also ground out AS (twice), WS, Smuggler, Swordsman, 4/4/4/0 Doctor as well as 4/2/0/3 FS Crafting. If the changes to AS don't work out for me, I'll probably respec back to Shipwright if there's still time.

Slim Vargo, Corbantis

P.S.: You say you didn't grind Shipwright, but inthe quote above you clearly dosaythat you did grind it out.

grats on grinding.. cookie?

I'ma respec Shipwright

....but, I'm previous to Shipwright I've been an Architect and Droid Engineer for a bit (so I've got a little bit of the crafting experience behind my belt...) and know what kind of patience it takes to get the rhytmn of a new crafting prof. I find the most enjoyable part of my time playing these prof.s is all of the learning behind it and the pride in working yourself up to being self-sustaining. I'm excited to see what challenges (and from what I've been looking at, there are a LOT of them ) Shipwright will bring me.

Hum.. I mastered SW in the first four days of JTL release. Dropped Remastered during double xp week, decided to take that toon combat. And took the combat toon to SW so do I qualify in you elitist rant? Wow someone got a little helping hand and you dump all over them instead of welcoming them into the fold. Bet you're a pre-cu JK too......

I just don't like the inexperienced "Master" Shipwrights flooding the market with poor quality componenets. I've check the vendor listings and the bad stuff is starting to crop up like weeds.

If you know what your doing it's fine and dandy because you went through the learning process. If you don't, it reflects poorly on you and the rest of the general shipwright community.

I like this bad flood actually. Because then pilots are that much more wowed when you show them the real deal and usually you get more credits than you originally asked for once they see your stuff compared to the flooded stock of crap comonents.

I read quite well, thank you. In fact, when I read the highlighted sentence above, that gave the game away to me. When I accused you of having an elitist attitude, you didn't even try to deny it. In fact, you embraced it and even reveled in it. If your intent was to be constructive, perhaps you should have just omitted the highlighted sentence.

I'll grant you that there are lots of people, in all forums, who ask dumb questions that are easily answered by the stickied FAQs. But this has always been the case, and ishardly unique to respecing. And in my experience, the shipwright forum has always been rather sleepy, so I don't think a few dumb questions will flood it with spam.

I for one don't understand why the Devs didn't allow crafters to respec from the beginning. Most non-combat professions were impacted by the CU just as much as the combat professions. To allow crafters to respec is only fair.

It seems that your only opposition to allowing crafters to respec is that someone may be able to master shipwright the "easy" way. But anyone who respecs to shipwright had to have mastered another elite profession, so I just don't see what makes one person's grind better/harder/more important than another person's grind.

True, shipwright takes a lot more resources. But if you already have the resources handy, it can be mastered in an hour or two without any kind of macro. That actually sounds pretty damn easy in my book. And what's more, you can actually sell your grind products. I couldn't sell jack until I mastered Weaponsmith.

You spent two months grinding shipwright. I spent four months grinding weaponsmith. Does that mean my grind is better than your grind? Does that mean I'm more entitled to respec to shipwright than someone else? I say let them respec. Most of them will quit after trying it for a week or two. They'll try it, find they don't like it, and respec to try something else. Life goes on.

A note to all players who respec'd their characters to Shipwrights,

Pleasetake the time tolearn your profession. Before posting questions, read the stickies in this forum. They most probably answer all your questions. You also need to learn how to become a merchant, and you should probably spend some time reading the stickies in the Merchant forum.

It's a bothan...

I also respeced to master SW, from a toon that had (in her time) been a MDE/MChef/MDoc/MDancer (not all at once)

It is a profession that I always wanted to do, but at the time (of JTL release) I couldn't afford the time/money/resources to do it, especially as I had mastered every profession in the game at least once (including non-combat, e.g. dancer four times, Chef twice, DE twice, Merchant three times, musician twice, ID twice (old and new system))

You shouldn't hold anything against respec SWs, if they are just in it for a whym (sp?) then they will fail (i.e. they will not compete with the istablished SWs), plus new SWs still won't be able to compete with your resources for a while

Same goes for respec'd bounty hunters/commandos/combat medics/bio-engineers and ANY other profession. These posts are a dead horse already, if you respec into anything there's always somebody who was there before you, so what?
