I would have used the search function, but alas oddly enough it wasn't working.... go figure.... heck I have to use Interent Explorer to post on these forums because it doesn't work with Firefox. Anyway on to my question.

I'm looking for a low mass level 8 shield and was wondering what I should look for, the lowest I've seen post RE is 27k, but I'm pretty sure this can be beat.

Also if anybody on Chilastra hasa low mass shield, I'd be willing to deal, but this ain't the trade forums so, I'm just looking for an answer as to what mass I should be looking for.

I haven't REd much, but from other similar posts I'd say 28K is pretty good for lvl 8 shields.

it's hard but you can get the mass for a level 8 shield down below 25k if you're willing to wait long enough. Just a month or two ago I got one of my reward shields down to just over 23k post-RE, I'm still waiting on another shield to repeat that with. I had looted the shield myself just a few days before hand so it wasn't anything that could be pre-nerf or anything like that.

Go into your profile for the forums, and then hit the preferences tab and uncheck the WYSIWYG editor option near the top of the list and Firefox will work just fine

Personally the best ive ever gotten is 28900 pre RE. I have seen 27xxx out there but no one wants to sell them for some reason.

as far as I know, zero mass components are exploits of sorts, where items are RE'd with a firespray disc and have 0 mass, however the devs are going to fix this by making any components with 0 mass default to 50k or something like that, someone jump in if I'm wrong about something

Perhaps this patch note from test could shed some light on this issue for you

A KSE Firespray Schematic can no longer be used to reverse-engineer a zero-mass spaceship component. When a player's ship is launched, if there are any zero-mass components, their mass will default to a value of 50,000.

Im not a shipwright, just a pilot but i was offered a level 8 zero mass shield, not having any knowledge of what can be crafted by master shipwrights I foundthis amazing, however,the asking price of 5 million was out of my league. There was also several other items all level 8 with zero mass.

And this is most likely why people with 0 mass components are trying to sell them to people who don't know about this bug (and the upcoming fix).

Honestly, not all SW or Pilots (even not all in the forums) know about this issue, so a fix to something they're not aware of is likely to be ignored by 99% of the players.

Thank you all for the information, it has been most welcome. just as well i didnt have the funds to by the parts, I think I would be as sick as a parrot to have spent all that money only to have found out, too late it would have been wasted.

back to the original question, I RE'd a level 8 shield today with 2900s f/b and a mass of 23k... but it was a while in the waiting on a low mass part to stick in the mix...
