Thread: Straight to the source: RE and low mass ships...
I’m trying to outfit a Scyk fighter with respectable gear.
As you can imagine, the Mass is severely limiting on this ship and the chassis I have weighs in at approximately 11,824 (if memory serves.)
Understanding how Reverse engineering works and having recently certified for levels 6 and 7 equipment, I’m thinking that it would be theoretically possible to build one jaw dropping ship through selective (very selective)reverse engineering.
What I’m looking at, by my estimation, is a reactor, engine, capacitor, shield, weapon, booster and counter measure launcher all with 1689.14 mass or less on *average*.
Now, by my calculations, this would require certain ‘minimums’ to get the appropriate results based upon the crucial statistics:
Reactor: low mass, high ouput
Engine: low mass, low(ish) reactor drain, high speed and high y/p/r
Capacitor: low mass, low drain, high energy and high recharge
Shield: low mass, low drain, high front and back shields and high recharge rate
Booster: low mass, high top speed, high acceleration, low consumption rate, high recharge
Weapon: low mass, low energy per shot, high refire rate, high eff vs. shields, high eff. Vs. armor and high min and max damage
Countermeasure launcher: low mass
In your opinion, can this be done or am I setting myself up for a wild goose chase?
~ Thanks for your time
so if you went with one nice gun and crappy everything else, you may be in luck.
Go with the 40K mass Kihraxz you still only get 1 weapon but can add missle and chaff (I use micro-chaff 69-99% effective). I'm a master shipwright and can build my own components so that helps but higher level RE'd parts with low mass makes it easier.
The Kihraxz does not have the acc/dec of the TIE Interceptor/B-Wing but it's pry is better then both.

Put focus on high engine speed with great PYR. use a lower end CM like chaff - but get the packs highly experimented with quality resources - it will raise it's effectiveness at least one step.
Your reactor does not need to be "high" - just large enough to run the capacitors, shields and engine. Computer programming will get you over the top in my opinion. Trade for all the programs you can get.
If you are lucky you can get a pre-patch Droid interface (they inverted the numbers on the first DIs, Tier I's were faster than Tier V's) with a droid speed of 14-15 and a mass of 500-750.
Invest in a high quality chassis with maximum mass (Your shipwright should focus on building with very high MA resources). That extra few % doesn't seem like alot but will make a difference in the end game.
Plan on dropping the booster for more room to play with.
Your best Return on mass investment will most likely be Tier 4 with your displacement restrictions.
Good luck! I'd like to see what you end up with. (I'm in the process of building one too)
