Thread: Ship Prices with the current decay is crazy

The prices for ships are crazy considering you can only die 10 times before you HAVE to buy a new chassis, when you repair your chassis after you die it looses 10% of its condition, having to pay millions for a ship your probably gonna loose in less than a week is insane, especially for new players.

For prices to come down, prices on resources must come down. If we're paying 3cpu for resources or more, no way anyone can stay in business if prices drop to nothing.

Not to mention steel on every resource vendor I've checked is either A) Wiped out or B) Priced WAY too high.

Blame the source, not the shipwrights.

Hmm how much is a good set of armor cost you?

How much does a large House cost you, and it never ever decays unless you forget maint on it.

How much do you pay for a full set of buffs. 200K I mean for a doc a set of 36 all 6 stats?

Food once eaten its gone?

Basic FWG5 uses 93 resources and for a basic one sells for what 10k?

If your chassis decays you still have all your components for it. And as you are lvling you will be getting a new one a lot faster than that anyways.

The issue isn't the prices, it's the rate of decay and *HOW* the decay is implemented.

That's why both the decay and the implementation are on the "Shipwright issues list".

I mean prices are nuts, but we as shipwrights have to charge a little extra right now because of what the resources costs us if we didnt harvest them ourselves. I found out from a few people that I have some of the lower prices on my server , I do that cause I make my money back on the resources and a little bit of profit. I know some people are charging crazy prices, but it should level itself out soon.

I'm selling at 4 cpu right now because I'm not master. I'm also having to harvest all of my own resources which isn't cheap at all when trying to get skill in this profession. I am mainly only building ships for my PA however I need to make some back to keep up the harvesters.

Components decay as well--everything decays. It's like a universal law or something.

The fact that miners are jacking their prices because of JtL will only force more and more SWs to mine their own stuff (which is what I'm doing). Eventually the miners will either lower their prices or go out of business. And the same can be said for price-jacking shipwrights.

Be patient, give it time. You know you can actually do the first two tiers in that freebie, no-decay crappy ship and it's kind of fun--it's a challenge.

Well said. I am on Kauri and gather 95% of my needed resources myself ahead of time. With the price of steel lately though I am considering just selling it and waiting a little bit. On Kauri 300K of steel just sold for 30 cpu within minutes of being put up for auction! It's insane right now, but it'll get better when things settle down a little.

And we all know prices on resources are not going to come down.

Resources are most likely spawning in the same amounts so they are now getting depleted faster meaning harvesters have to be moved more often so the price will go up.

I was hoping they'd take the decay rate down to 5% like people in beta were suggesting...

You realize of course that the higher level of decay, the higher the demand will be for more ships, which in turn will keep the prices from dropping very fast.

The best solution to your problem is to join in and help out - start harvesting resources! Make a relationship with your favorite shipwright and sell him resources at a fair price in return for him giving you a fair price on ships and components.

not cheap to harvest ur own? even with power costs at 10ber on a 70% harvest its under .5cpu to harvest.

Well said ZeroKOol. I use a program that figures the cost of each resource I harvest and figures in the cost of the power and maintenence even the cost of the power if I purchased it. None of my resources ever said that it was costing me more than .5 credits per unit to harvest. So, even at charging 1 cpu on ships I would make money.

Just thought I would through that in because saying harvesting your own costs too much is funny to me.
